  1. The clunking sound when you release the brake in drive is caused by the drive shaft and replacing it is the only remedy as I have discoved in my 2007 LX470.
  2. The only solution was to replace the drive shaft which my dealer finally agreed to do and the problems have been solved and I'm happy with the drive and lowering of my LX470.
  3. The only solution was to replace the drive shaft which my Lexus dealer finally did and my problems have been solved.
  4. I replaced the stock Dunlops with Yokohama Geolander GO51 P275 65 18s on my 2007 LX470 and I'm very plased with the overall performance, ride, low level of tire noise especially at highway speeds. The Yokohamas are a very good tire and an alternative to Michelins which are also a good tire but are more expensive and wear out much quicker. I did considerable research on Tirerack.com and spoke to a repitable tire dealer before making my decision and after 6,000 miles I would buy the Yokohamas again. I don't go off road but I do travel from Canada to Florida every winter and its a 1,600 mile drive each way all highway and the Yokohamas have been a very satisfactory tire.
  5. I have been experiencing a similar wierd sound as you discribed in my 2007 LX470. Mine sounds light an electronic sqweel (EEEEEEE) coming from the engine compartment. It appears after a cold start up and when I put it in drive and pull away and within a few seconds of driving the sqweel sounds appears lasting a couple seconds and then disappears until the next cold start. It doesn't happen after restarting the vehicle or short trips only after it sits overnight and its there every time I start the vehicle in the colder weather which is weird. I've hadthis problem for two years and had my vehicle in at two Lexus dealers for this problem without them being able to find or replicate the sound. Murphy's Law every blasted time. No TSBs for this that I can find so if anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated.

    Thump

I was experiencing the same problem in my 2007 LX470 thump when foot in removed from the brake pedal in drive and the service manager at my Lexus dealer test drove my LX and said it was the drive shaft and ordered a replacement under warranty and it solved this problem. I had taken it in for a vibration problem at highway sppeds and he said it was tires bit after replacing three sets of Dunlops tires within the first 3,000 miles I have been living with the viration fromblem since 2007 and installed a set of Yokohama Geolanders at 38,000 miles. The service manager determined that the vibration was caused by the drive shaft and replaced it solving the vibration problems and my LX now drives beautifully for the first time since 2007. So don't give up with either of these issues keep on your dealer service manager until they replace the drive shaft under warranty. This is a known problem in the GX model and now on some LXs.
  7. I was experiencing increased road noise and diminished ride quality after 30,000 miles on the OEM Dunlop tires on my 2007 LX470 so at 38,000 miles on the advice of my tire dealer I changed to Yokohama Geolander HTS Go51 275/65R18 114H SL tires and I'm pleased with the ride, low noise and traction with these Yokohama tires. The OEM tire size 275/60R18 really limits your tire choices and many LX470 owners have been unhappy with the available brands and the tire performance in the OEM size. Many LX470 owners have tried Michelin which are good tires delivering a good, quiet ride with good handling by wear quickly and tend to be a more expensive tire. My tire dealer recommended Yokohama tires in a slightly larger 65 profile which means your speedometer may read 60 miles per hour when in fact you may be traveling at 62 -63 miles per hour is how he explained it to me. You can research tire size and profile performance and specs on the web for more info on this topic and to help you select the proper tire size and profile for your vehicle. At tirerack.com I read dozens of tire owners reviews on LX470 and other vehicles which is a great place to research tires and hear what owners have to say after extended tire usage in various weather and driving conditions. You can also compare prices on all makes and model tires for the LX470 and other vehicles. I hope this info helps.
  8. Thank you for your input I will try having the drive shaft lubricated to see if it solves the thumping problem. Regards, TheCat1
  9. Thanks for the advice I have tried to replicate the problem with a Lexus service adviser and on another occasion with their mechanic but as Murphy's Law would have it my truck lowered smooth as silk making me look like the man who cried wolf. I even let the vehicle with them but it would not replicate the problem. The service advisor at Northtown Lexus in Buffalo did feel the thumping when I took it to them and I was assured that they would solve the problem but his mechanic couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle height adjustment system so I'm still living with this intermittent annoyance. I just don't want this problem to develop into something serious and expensive. Thanks for your input. TheCat1
  10. My LX470 recently started producing a strange electronic sounding squeal noise which is heard within the first minute of driving after the vehicle has sat overnight. I don't know what could be causing this strange electronic sound which is heard quite loudly both inside on outside the vehicle. The sound is like a long eeeeeeeeeeeeeee! sound lasting about two to three seconds before it stops and its not heard again until the vehicle sits overnight and is restarted the next morning and its only after the vehicle is driven for 30 to 60 seconds and then eeeeeeeeeeee! Does anyone have any ideal what could be causing this (besides a family of mice living under my hood) and what the remedy would be so I can inform my Lexus dealer what to look for. I appreciate your help. Thanks, TheCat1
  11. My 2007 LX470 makes a constant Thumping which can be felt throughout the vehicle when lowering the vehicle while parked. My driveway has a slight incline but it seems to thump on both level and inclines. I have had the vehicle into a couple different Lexus dealers a few times complaining about this annoying problem only to have them tell me they couldn't find anything wrong and it would not thump when they lowered the vehicle. This has been going on for a couple years now and I'm fed up taking it into Lexus dealers only to have the vehicle returned without this problem fixed can someone please help with a remedy for this annoying problem. Thank you TheCat1
  12. I have a 2007 LX470 and when I lowering the AHC suspension it frequently makes a rapid thumping or pulsating which is felt throughout the vehicle. I've had it in to my Lexus dealer for this problem on two occasions but each time they tell me they cannot find anything wrong with the suspension and cannot replicate the symptoms. It does not pulsate / thump every time it is lowered but most of the time it does but never when its at the dealer go figure. The vehicle has 31,000 miles on it and it has done this since new. I have never been off roading with it. I have carried considerable weight in the back when I've loaded the family and luggage and drove south for winter vacations and when I unloaded the vehicle the rear went quit high up until I restarted the vehicle and then it returned to normal height. I would appreciate any help in determining the cause for this problem and a remedy. Thank you Feel free to PM me if you have a solution I can take to my dealer thecat_91@hotmail.com
