  1. Happy new year to all of you. I am looking forward to the new year with my "new" 93ls. I bought it in november. And have loved it ever since. I have done a fair amount to it in a short tine. Full tune up. full in and out detail. Brake light switch. Throttle body cleaning. Switch to Mobil 1. It's a bonding experience working on my car. Good work A of O. I've lost around 80lbs in the past year. Have around 20 more to go.
  2. What bothers me is the media now has their news anchors adding personal comments ( or the managements ) to the already biased reporting.
  3. Hello Canada, An obscure thought would be the rear end gear ratio. If it was altered this would change your 0-60 time. I don't know the standerd factory ratio. and the only way I know to calculate yours is by counting the gear notches on the ring and on the pinion and dividing the pinion into the ring for your ratio.
  4. I have not had this service. but reviewed some posts. I found no prices for the 130K service. but that some dealers are charging 100.00us for a oil change. Good advice found is that most of the time you leave the dealer paying much more the the orgional price. And that most of the scheduled main. is inspection only. Paying an hourly rate for this. also, most service can be done at a toyota dealer for much less. With the Lexus dealer being the last resort. Of note the 60K dealer service changing T-belt, fliuds, ect goes for around 1600-1800us
  5. 93 ls 400, 94K. I have a " buzzing " sound comming from the inst. cluster. Seams to be getting louder. It occurs with the engine running or with the ing. key turned to the position where the idiot lights come on. The cluster lights work. The tach works sometimes, but always lower than actual engine RPM. The gas guage is slow to rise in cold weather. Sometimes the speedometer sets on 0, or pops up to speed after reaching 20-25 MPH. I first noticed the buzz shortly after I replaced the brake light switch. But it may of been there before, it is masked by the heater blower or the radio. I bought the car Nov 4th. and it was not doing this then. the noise sounds like a loud florecent light buzz. Any thoughs?
  6. If you still have the factory under the hood decal diagrams. You will see on the vacuum hose routing that there are two vac switching valves. Yours is one of the two.
  7. Are there any suspension grease fittings or additional areas to lube during oil changes on a 93 Ls 400 ? thanks.
  8. You can pull the coil wire from the cap and hold it\\the metal tip close to a ground. or pull a plug wire and put an old plug in it and see if there is a spark generated while cranking. Use insulated gloves or pliers or you may get shocked. Some auto parts stores may test coils also.
  9. Are you saying that the engine turns over? But will no start? Does it crank slow or normal? Could have a wire grounding out. Check if the coils are sparking. may be the resistence of the coils or plug wires that are being affected by the cold. And now getting worse with age. Next would be to see if you are getting fuel to the cylinders.
  10. Based on the locator ( thank you ) It looks to be A 11, it is next to A10 which is the air pump relay. I am going to get a digital camera and post a picture. It looks like a connector plug that has been overheating. Thanks for your help Walt
  11. I bought my 93 LS on EBAY in november. Fairly good experience. I looked at two LS's localy. Was not impressed at all with their condition. Be patient when looking. If no one is bidding or low bids. There may be a reason. Look for one with records. The VIN is listed. Get a CARFAX report. Get the seller to buy, even if you reimburse him for a 30 day warrenty. Go to lexus with the VIN # and ask them to print a service report. Pay for an inspection. Print a list of things to look for when you view the car. Be willing to loose your deposit if you don't want the car. go down a day early and be relaxed when you do your inspection. Don't have jet lag. I am very happy with my purchase. Each car i drove had a different feel. The seats with heat, I found to be hard and uneven to sit on. I chose only warm weather states for car to bid on. Less wear and tear on the powertrain and the body. Plus cleaner interior. If it's been well maintained you should do ok on EBAY
  12. Three months ago, I did a full tune up, plus, also. All of the parts are from Lexus. Here are my costs: Water Pump/Timing Belt/V-Belt/Cam Seals/Link assembly = $450.00 Gas Filter/End Links = $202.94 Spark Plug wires/spark plugs = $174.52 Timing belt Tensioner/Ignition rotors/Distributer caps & labor = $722.52 --------- total = $1549.11 You probably can save some of this by buying the [atrs from on-line vendors. I just wanted to get it all done. did you do the install on any of these?
  13. Next to the MAF is a box that looks like a fuse box with a cover. I removed tha cover and there is a small cover that say " air pump " and next to this is a brown colored " relay " looking elect. plug. It's top is composed of rectangle open boxes filled with a resin. it looks very dry and cracked. I want to replace this. But have no idea what it does. Just looks like future trouble. Any thoughts? Looking at the engine elect. diagram. It could be: EA1 cowl wire EA2 engine room main wire What do you think ?
  14. I agree the Brake Switch that is actuated by the brake pedal has a dual purpose of turning the brakes on and the second set of contacts allow the shift lock to be released when going from Park to any gear. The Switch is probably easy to replace and I would suggest that, I repair one on a Honda, but don't recommend that. The Switch on a honda was $25.00. So therefore the Lexus one is Probably $100. Just kidding I don't know the price. ← Thank you both. I am going to check that out today. Will post my findings. ← Yes, the brake lights did not work either. Had to order the btake light switch. $68.00 at Lexus. I put it in and still not working. very sad. Then I played around with the adjustment for the plunger length. Screwed it in further so the peddle pushed it in more when your foot is off the brake peddle. And now everything works. What a great feeling to fix things without the dealer. Thanks for your insight and help.
  15. lexus has a TSB out about leaking sun roofs. There is a repair kit installed by th dealer. ← i live in MA, and i wonder if its related to the snow we just had...caus eit snowed, rained, then snowed in a 5 hour period, so maybe some water got inbetween the seal then froze. do you have a link to this TSB? is it a free repair by the dealer? Thanx! ← I'm thinking your drain line frooze up and therefore the water dripped into the car. I bet you dont even find a problem since it rained and froze and rained again I'm thinking thats your problem. Take it to the car wash again and see if it even leaks. ← the TSB is BO93-008 it's for 93 ls400, But could apply to others.
  16. I have had the light coming on around turns and then lately it has been comnig on more and more during regular driving. I replced the pads and now it is fine but the old pads were only worn about 1/2. Wierd. ← my 93 ls brake light was comming on during hard stops. reservior did not " look " low but added some fluid and the light stopped comming on. Agree, fluid level drops as the pad wear. And the sensor trips as the fluid moves with the G force.
  17. I've a 93 ls the fan speeds up on acceleration and slows at idle. But my air temp is constant. I would look at the coolent level. also the water pump if the coolent is full. with the rad cap off you should see the coolent flowing by at idle.

Thanx! ← The TSB is avail at techinfo.toyota This is a pay site 10.00 for 24hour access. It has a wealth of info. Well worth 10 bucks. You can print or send to your files.Don't know if this repair is a free fix. It did say to look at the slide rales if there is pooled water on the top. From being bent in slightly. There is also a TSB on a wind noise reduction foam kit install My roof is quite noisey. Will call Lexus.
  19. hi it'me again. If youv'ed not already. Check you battery connections for corrosion and tightness. Maybe remove the cables and clean the posts and connectors. A sharp knife or a wire brush works well. Also check for looseness at the starter and block ground

  21. The starter should not cause the engine " run on ". This can be caused by shutting of the engine at a high rpm or on a overheated engine. Prob. not your case after 10 minutes. Also could have carbon build on the valves ignighting the fuel.
  22. I have been downloading tech info from techinfo.toyota today. My printer ran out if ink before I finished. But there is a service issue about mixing different coolents. And spec. about them requiring different types of O-rings. I'll post info if I can get this downloaded before my 24 subscription expires.

  24. 93ls400, 92,000 miles. First time in cold weather. I bought the car in November in Florida. Today the shift release button will not push in. Removed the shift lock release cover. ( looks like this had been removed before ). And was able to release the shifter out of park. Hoped it would work after the car warmed up but it continues to stick. Any suggestions on where to start with this problem?
