  1. Welcome, I've read that some of the electrical switches are fairly easy to remove. And with cleaning of the switch/contacts. Will function again.
  2. Welcome! Hope that this dosen't offend. But is the remote switch on the dash set to on ? Also, I have read about a few types of electrical problems being traced to damanged wire harness in the trunk. near the drivers side hinge. I don't know much about the A/C. But there are threads about the heater blowing cold or warm air through the vents with temp set in the reverse of the air temp comming out. Some advice has been to check the coolent control valve on the fire wall. Which if not closing will let hot coolent flow through. Which could warm your A/C flow. Best of luck
  3. What specific TSB are you refering to? What does it correct? Thanks
  4. Replaced my 93Ls key battery today. The type is a lithium size 1216, 3volt . Before replacement it took several pushes of the button to open/close the door lock. It now works excellent, just a slight push to work. And there was no reprograming of the key needed. The tool sI used for the screw was an eye glass repair screwdriver. and a fine, pointed tiped punch. And two small standard tip screwdrivers. Remove the screw. Use punch at the key/fab junction below the screw hole to lift up the plastic. Insert one of the flat screwdrives and start twisting to pop it up a bit . Leave it in place and start using the second screwdriver alternating up both sides of the plastic. Soon the fab will pop open. There is a snap connector at the top of the fab. ( where the key ring goes ). The battery is loose inside. ie. it can fall out. old battery stamped with: BV 1216 3V
  5. Welcome! There is a lot of great advice here. And don't forget to use the search option. As well as www.lexls.com I have a 93Ls. And I love this car. No mods. just maintance so far. Only have had it since November.
  6. My 93Ls had smooth idle. And poor acceleration on level ground. When accelerating going up any incline the car would jerk in a stutter like fashion. Also hard to get above 60 mph. I had around 91,000k on it. I did a tune up. Dealer wires ( 220.00 ) plugs, caps, rotors. All parts less than $300.00. Everything visually looked good on the surface. But both of the coil terminals were totally corroded under the rubber cap. In fact the terminal was so brittle, that they broke off trying to remove the coil wire. Afterward, the car is smooth and powerfull under any type of acceleration. Clean your throttle body for an even smoother idle. Maybe a little Seafoam fuel system cleaner is in order to. Lots of luck. Your have a great car on your hands!
  7. I think these may be what you are asking about. You will also find a owner's manual At www.E-Bay.com
  8. Look at the web site www.lexls.com. Click on tutorials, Under the body electricial site their is instructions for the gen 1 Ls's. This may help.
  9. After removing my IC. And removing the white back cover. I noticed what I first thought was a factory design. But was able to remove them with water. What I think these are, are static electricty streaks. Has anyone seen this before? Is this normal? Or could this be the cause of so many of the IC problems on the 93-94 LS 400's. They look like small " lightning " streaks, gray in color. My car is a 93ls with 96,000K Any thought? Ways to prevent this in the future? I tried to attach the pics, Hope this worked.
  10. Welcome back to Lexus. You can find what you need to know about O2 sensors at www.lexls.com click on the tutorials link at the top of the page. The slow go foward may need some more details. But an early thought could be a hanging emergency brake.
  11. I would do a carfax. And have the dealer inspect the car. Around my area they will do this for around $70.00 dollars. It may not be perfect. But well worth the bucks. Look at the idle with and without electrical load. Any suspension noise while turning slowly. Any wobble or shaking accelerating or braking. Or over speed bumps. Listen to the engine in a car wash bay or simular. This will magnify the engine sounds. I love my 93ls.
  12. Dear Curt, I also am sorry to see this happen to your beloved Lexus. I know that you have put a lot of time and love into your car. And that you have been a great help and friend to me. \ If you decide to fix her up. Let me know if I can do parts search in my area. Best of luck, Walt
  13. factory wires are pre placed into their clips. Very easy. You may damage the " old " wires moveing them around during the plug change. Also the caps and rotors are only around $30.00. The caps have hard to get to bolts. But you will be very happy to have done the complete change.
  14. Glad that your knock is soon to be solved. And now you will enjoy this amazing car even more. Also like your sense of humor!!
  15. My bad on the " quote ". Hit the wrong tab.
  16. Hello AKEWLGUY! I have a 93ls, what can be lubed on the underside? Also to anyone that has changed their timeing belt. What did your old belt look like? As far as crackes, wear and tear, ect... Mine was supposed to have been changed at 60K ( before I bought the car ). Only goinging by the service sticker under the hood. No indication on my Lexus service records tho. I inspected the belt during a tune up. And it showed no sign of crackes or fraying. Does this matter? or do I need to go ahead and replace? The car has 94K on it now. Thanks for any info.
  17. Are there any other advantages to have a new ECU?
  18. I agree with your feelings about your 93ls. I bought my 93ls in early november. And think this car is fantastic. I've had many american cars, a muscle car ( 68 Chevelle 396, modified ) in the early 70's. after it was stolen. I bought my first non american car and the start of my love affair with quality cars. The early 70's 2002 BMW's. but now it is Lexus for me.
  19. Thats not Desiree! That's my wife! Enjoyed the pics Walt
  20. I clayed for the first time. And I thought it was great. I first used Scratch X, then i clayed with a Mothers Calif gold kit. It came with a clay bar and a bottle of quick detailer. You need something slippery to let the clay glide. Of course the car must be clean. Flatten the clay out to a palm size piece, do not drop the clay, if you do get another bar, so you will not have any grit in the clay. Spray the paint in small areas with the liquid and rub the clay back and forth ( like you are hand sanding ) keep the spray in your other hand and keep the paint very wet. If you hit a " dry " spot the clay may scratch, but it will leave a clay streak. You will feel that the clay is gliding more smoothly as it does it's work. This does not take much time at all. Keep spraying and moving on with the clay. I did mine in sections drying with a MF towel as I finished. Yes, I did have some clay streaks. But Meguries paint cleaner removed this very nicely. And was a great prep prior to the finish wax. ( do not let the paint cleaner dry on your paint or touch plastic, glass ect. per directions. I had paint damage to my car that I bought in Florida from blowing sand. The bumper, hood and in front of the moon roof as well as the side mirrors had a rough texture like fine sand paper. The scratch-x helped but the claying made these areas smooth and slick as ice. I finished with Meguries NTX liqiud wax. Perfect. LOL
  21. We never know what the day has instore for us. I am glad that you are " OK ". I've not spoke with you. But I read and enjoy your posts. And feel that i know you at least a little bit. Best of luck in your recovery. Walt
  22. This is true, and is very gratifing to see your results. I will highly reccomend using a claying product. The results were fantastic. Before I tried it I thought it was "bull".
  23. My car symptoms would come and go in an instant, And also would not occur for a while. I don't remember if you reset your ECU. To do so disconnect the battery negitive terminal for a few minutes the re-connect and start your car. My dist caps looked perfect on the outside and I almost did'nt touch them. Bou when I removed the coil wire the terminal broke off and was full of corrosion. I was actually glad to see this. As I was now hopefull that I had found my problem. Good luck. Walt Do a forum search in the keyword box for ECU. Tons of info.
