  1. No XM NAVTRAFFIC other than dedicated audio traffic channel for Los Angeles. No other changes for 06-07MY.
  2. I use Cingular Blackberry 8700c. Works fine. Address book doesn't though. Blackberries with Bluetooth don't have a TRANSMIT button. http://www.lexus.com/models/bluetooth/index.html
  3. Visit this website to confirm what phones work with your vehicle: http://www.lexus.com/models/bluetooth/index.html Lastly, from my experience the Sony Ericssons' have been good about transferring the entire phonebook in one shot.
  4. I have a 2006 GX and was unable to get either my Sprint A900 or Palm 650 to pair with the car. My wife's Verizon Razr works, but won't upload the phonebook. I hate bluetooth! The service providers have their own motives. Some want to derive extra revenue from subscribers by forcing them to push objects (pictures) over their network to bolster revenues. Yet others are at the mercy of the Bluetooth version in their cell phone. In the latter case, the incompatible cell phones effect Acura, Lexus, Jaguar, BMW and Toyota vehicles (just to name a few). I would suggest visiting Lexus Bluetooth site to verify which phones are compatable with your Lexus vehicle. http://www.lexus.com/models/bluetooth/index.html
  5. If you have a radar detector, satellite radio or other electronic device that broadcast radio frequency, these devices could be the source of your issues. Unlike some older vehicles, most of the newer cars have the GPS antenna installed in the dash 6" behind the display. When these electronic devices are mounted on the windshield, or on the dash, they can emit enough radio frequency interference (RFI) to cause positioning anomolies. The worst case ever was an XM antenna coiled around the GPS cable.... when the device was off GPS was good. However, when XM was turned on (and broadcasting via the FM modulator) the GPS accuracy was way off! In addition to devices that emit RFI, other cables near the GPS antenna causes issues too. I have seen a power cable routed across the GPS antenna cable cause positioning anomolies. Every time the current flow changes a current was induced onto the GPS wire which caused positioning to be off. Eventually, the position returned to normal when the current draw was low. Not only can electronic devices wreak havoc, metallic window tint causes issues too. Some high grade tint has the potential to interfere with GPS reception. In the worst case scenerio, which occurs in AZ and NV, people have metallic tint installed on every window - even the front windshield! Plus, the metallic window tint causes issues with radio reception too! But that is another story.
  6. You can purchase a remanufactured display from a Lexus dealer - part number 86111-60172-OW. Have them verify if the display is the culprit since they aren't cheap. They have diagnostic access to see what is going on inside the AVC-LAN system.
  7. Not only do ou need new wires, you need a new amplifier too. You will have one hell of a time trying to get that unit to work since you are missing so many items.
  8. Lots of luck! No vidoe inputs into the monitor. The factory SUV had a composite to RGB convertor built in.......
  9. The reasons are numerous for using hard disc drives (HDD). Greater capacity, don't have to inventory software which has a short shelf life, new media source, run features that are memory intensive, future upgrades to OS, etc. There are obviously more than this short list! The July 2004 update is the most current version of the HDD.
  10. The map database does not tell you the building names. The building shapes are to assist you in orienting yourself when driving on maintained roads; the names of the buildings are not collected by NAVTEQ or TELE ATLAS. Lastly, the icon of a head with a motar board and tassle is visible by scrolling around the purple area. Malls for example have a gray color that are sometimes bordered by a brownish outline. The icon is a small package with a bow... some people think that it is a TV. As far as the LOCAL POI LIST is concerned CAL STATE UNIV does exist. While I don't know the specific parameters the system looks for POIs in the vacinity... not over 30 or 40 miles away. That is why you could find it when typing in the name of the POI but no in LOCAL POI LIST. In the future please report suspected map discrepancies to Lexus @ 800 255 3987 or email them your findings. Please have all the specifics availalbe as general descriptions are useless. In the near future Lexus will have a place online that you can report suspected map issues.
  11. None are available from the aftermarket sector. The amplifier and microphone are proprietery to Lexus. Modifying the equipment could potentially limit access to navigation functions. Please be sure to call Lexus @ 800 255 3987 and explain the issues you are experiencing. The more that understand... the better. So what is the exact issue your are having? Do the people you call via the hands free system have a difficult time hearing you? Is there to much background noise? Let me know.....
  12. The only options are from Pioneer, Alpine or Eclipse. All three companies offer a touch-screen DVD navigation system with radio and single-CD player - an optional 6 disc changer is available from either of the three companies mentioned previously. The one other bonus is that Pioneer offers XM Traffic and Bluetooth modules! Both are sold seperately and the XM Traffic module requires a subscription. The reason you can't add the factory navigation is because the wiring harnesses and amplifiers in the car are not compatible with a 'factory' navigation system.
  13. You cannot reset the country after you have selected another country. The only way to reset the ECU is by consulting your local Lexus dealership. They will contact a Lexus FTS who has access to a SDRAM clear disc that will reset your country for US. Don't know how much they will charge you but it will be much less expensive than another ECU.
  14. Contact your local Lexus dealership and request them to have their local FTS send them the repair disc to reset your navigation ECU. I would highly suggest that you not adjust anything in this hidden menu.
  15. Where did you buy the vehicle at and where did you ship it to? If you purchased it in the US and shipped it outside of the continental US you may have to replace the navigation ECU to be compatible with your new DVD map disc. For example, the ECU found in some European vehicles is different from the ones installed in vehicles manufactured specifically for the US. If this is the case you need to verify that the new ECU will connect to the display/microphone/RSE/ETC.
  16. Contact your local Lexus dealership and request them to have their local FTS send them the repair disc to reset your navigation ECU. I would highly suggest that you not adjust anything in this hidden menu.
  17. Whatever you do DO NOT change anything in the LOADING menu. Doing any other changes in the hidden engineering screen can render your navigation system wortheless. A brand new navigation computer will cost you $5K..... be extremely careful not to change anything in this engineering screen!
  18. Check the following link for the method that works on the 2001 RX: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...wtopic=26855&hl Whatever you do DO NOT change any setting within the LOADING menu. Again, DO NOT change anything in the other menus since it will automatically void your warranty. Plenty of people use the override feature, which can be dangerous in itself, but the other menu systems can disable your navigation system completely! When other things are tampered with the system is rendered completely inoperative! If you do modify any settings in this hidden screen you will be completely responsible for your actions.... be prepared for the consequences if you decide not to heed this warning.
  19. WHATEVER YOU DO ... DO NOT CHANGE TO ANOTHER COUNTRY! If you press Australia or China you will completely lock-up your system. While this information is floating around the web I STRONGLY suggest NOT modifying or accessing any other features. This hidden MENU system was designed to be accessed by engineers.... not end users. Lastly, the warranty for your navigation system will be VOID if they determine that anyone has altered this factory setting.
  20. First, is the GPS icon visible at the top left of the map screen? If the GPS icon is missing you are not getting proper reception of the satellites. Could either be that the GPS antenna or receiver has failed. Also have you noticed if the vehicle icon 'skips' when driving? Does it take time after taking corners to reposition the vehicle icon? Second, their is a calibration feature. Press the MENU panel button, touch SETUP, then touch CALIBRATION at the bottom. Touch ADJUST THE CURRENT POSITION to position the vehicle. If after doing this and driving for a few hours the vehicle positioning is off again something is effecting the systems performance. Make sure no FM broadcasting devices (FM modulated transmitters such as XM Road or Sirius satellite receivers) are near the GPS antennna. Same goes for radar detectors. If this is the case move them away from the center of the dash to resolve the issue. Lastly, if the map database is old you should get a new update. The map disc is simply a database of the roads, interstates, addresses, telephone numbers and so on... it does not impact the positioning accuracy of the vehicle icon.
  21. They don't want you to accidentally make an error in judgement while you tap on the display. It's one thing if you have an accident making a phone call and its another if you did it while using the system in the vehicle. They simply don't want to be involved in a lawsuit should something occur while using the display. They apparently agree with the NHTSA and AAA regarding distractions and cell phones.
  22. The DVD map disc indicates that both NAVTEQ and TeleAtlas are the suppliers of the database. I would suggest reporting the missing address to your Service Manager at Lexus. They are able to forward the missing addresses to the suppliers so that they can be updated if they haven't already updated the informatino.
  23. The DVD map disc is is not dual-sided or dual-layered. If it were the capacity would be much greater than the 4.7gigabyes.
  24. I'm talking about installing a OEM nav just like it came from the factory, Or just like you ordered the car with a nav. I know several people who have installed factory nav in a non-nav LEXUS. ← First you will need a dash kit to integrate the aftermarket unit. The kits fill in the gaps and keep the aesthetics of the interior looking like factory. Plus you will need an adaptor to connect the unit to the vehicle. There are two type of navigation systems - portable and installed. The portable units are less expensive, and as the name implies, portable. They can be taken from vehicle to vehicle. While these units are less expensive they are not as feature latent as the installed units. On the other hand they can be taken from car to car which is great if you travel in other unknown areas. The more sophisticated navigation systems are integrated into the vehicle. The most popular navigation systems are from Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood or Eclipse. These units are bolted to your vehicle and connect to the reverse and speed pulse wire for accurate detection of the vehicle's direction and speed. Since they are installed they are covered by your insurance company if you have to file a claim. The installed navigation units come in two styles - DIN and double- DIN. DIN is a standard size opening that most OEM manufacturers have adopted except for some GM and Chrysler vehicles. DIN is the smaller of the two and looks like a standard aftermarket CD player. As the name implies, double DIN, is simply the size of two units stacked. Your ES300 can accomodate a double-DIN unit. Pioneer and Alpine offer a DIN (single) unit that feature a motorized screen. They can either be operated by remote control or by the touch-screen. The screen connects to a hide-a-way module that is tucked away beneath a seat or under the dash. The only time you need to access the hide-a-way module is when you need to change the DVD map disc. When you turn on the car the screen automatically folds out and when you turn the vehicle off the screen retracts into the dash. Double-din units are available from Pioneer, Kenwood and Eclipse. The entire assembly fits into the dash and also features a touch screen. If you compare the current ES330's navigation system (double-DIN) you will find that the operation and look of the system are very similiar to the Kewnood and Eclipse units. They are easy to operate and a less expensive in comparison to adding the OEM units. Plus, they incorporate the most current technology available. As with the OEM navigation system you cannot input a destination while the vehicle is in motion. They don't want you to wreck ur new car! Lastly, pick a quality establishment to install the unit if you go with the installed system. Ask them specific questions and ask for pictures; you don't want a hack installer to mess up your car or deploy the airbags! Don't laugh.... it happens more than you can imagine. Choose wisely! Good luck!
  25. What is the DVD disc in the vehicle? It needs to be an 86271-3303(2 or higher) to be compatible with your vehicle. If it is an 86271-3304(2 or higher) the DVD disc not compatible with the DVD unit in your vehicle. Lastly if the correct map disc is installed the DVD unit has failed. I am not aware of any authorized repair facilities in the US. The DVD units are sophisticated hardware... the only other option would be to pick-up a reman unit from a Lexus dealership. If that doesn't appeal to you there is always the junk yard. :(
