  1. The new update will be out in January of 2006. The most current is 00230-DVD-04CY - V4.1
  2. Based upon the litmited information given it seems that the navigation DVD-ROM unit has failed. The only other option, besides the Lexus dealership, is to find one at a junkyard. The Lexus/Toyota part number is 86841-47020. Good luck!
  3. The issue is the service provider... not Lexus. If you read the news you will find that Verizon is currently involved in a class action lawsuit since they prevent some of the phones built-in feature from working; namely the Object Push Profile. Verizon prefers that you send your data over their network as opposed to the Bluetooth technology. Go figure!
  4. The quality of the CD-R is probably the issue. The reflectivity of the CD-Rs is critical.. especially in older CD players. I do not recommend the cheapo bulk CD-Rs from Fry's since they are basically designed for computer use only.
  5. The screen in your vehicle is just an information display.... it will not work for video input.
  6. The DVD map disc you purchased are for the GEN 4 system.... you have a GEN 3 system so the DVD disc in your possession will not work. It's kinda like MAC software in a Window platform... they are not compatible. The disc you need is 86271-33033, or 33034. Visually you can tell the GEN 3 map disc because it has silver graphics in the background. Plus, the higher the last digit the better. The disc you bought on ebay is probably 86271-33043 or 33042.
  7. Yes , The install can be done , I can get you the 2001 full nav system if you are still looking for one . PM or EM me for all the details. ← DC fish, I am interested as well. tuannaut02@yahoo.com tuannaut@hotmail.com ← God just buy an aftermarket system... it will be easier and more advanced than that 2000 technology. The new aftermarket systems are faster and offer more features in comparison to the OEM system.
  8. I work as a consultant for Lexus, for ALL bluetooth/technology/nav issues. and i can tell you that i took over what Handsfeesolutions used to do for Lexus Santa Monica. Anyway... 1) Look into the Raytel 4000 and find an installer for it, works VERY well. its very very nice and ive used it first hand. best part...$600 installed at some places..look around.. 2) No you cant rig the 06 nav to work in your car. if u really want nav, build a car computer and mount the screen where the stock screen went, www.mp3car.com or install the pioneer aftermarket navi there, some dealers will do it for less than/around $2000.. HTH Abe ← the most stock look would be the es330 navigation unit mounted in place of the 6 disc radio. the price would be 1700.00 and would include the rear view camera moiunted at licence plate lite level and a ntsc dvd movie port. would only need hookups to reverse sensor for camera and the speed sensor. the factrory nav would be a difficult install but possible. i have one of those also but have never tried installing one. the es330 nav CAN BE INSTALLED IN ANY LEXUS. ← The 06MY navigation will not integrate with your 05MY IS300. As another member mentioned an aftermarket unit from Alpine, Eclipse, Kenwood or Pioneer can easily be installed in place of your factory radio. Several aftermarket kits and harnesses make it easy to integrate it with your vehicle. If you really want the same look, and i do mean 'the same', check out Eclipse and Kenwood. You will find that they look identical to the factory system. Plus with the aftermarket stuff you get better equaliziation and you can add a rear camera! Lastly the comment regarding adding an ES330 navigation is a bit misleading. To do so you would need to get the matching amplifier, cables and so on; much more complicated than it appears to be. I would STRONGLY suggest not taking this route.
  9. The only way to add navigation is through an aftermarket unit. The OEM version requires new cables and amplifier... CD changer optional. The aftermarket choices are fixed or portable. Alpine, Eclipse, Kenwood and Pioneer all make a fixed mount unit that goes in the dash. Otherwise you can pick up a portable unit that mounts to the windshield.
