  1. First, what year and model is your vehicle. Second, have you installed another DVD map disc lately or changed something in the hidden menu? The error message indicates that the wrong DVD map disc has been installed OR you have changed the COUNTRY tab in a hidden menu. If you changed the COUNTRY tab then you should see Japanese below the error message. If the DVD map disc does not eject after sliding the small cover (right) and pushing down on the button, then the navigation computer has failed. If it has failed you can buy a reman unit (86841-33060-OW) from either a Lexus or Toyota dealership. No repair is available for these units. Can you tell us how to change the Country table in hidden menu ?? My car is 2007 IS250, thanks No one is able to change this setting. This feature was disabled after countless users changed the tab "by accident" while poking around.
  2. You need to get the system analyzed with an real time analyzer (RTA). The RTA will identify if equalization is an issue and display the frequency response of your audio system. Aside from that you need to determine the source units signal to noise ratio and dynmaic range. Ditto for the amplifier too. My guess is that neither are good. My humble guess is that its 60Hz to 16kHz. Additionally, I bet the amplifier and speakers are okay. A great aftermarket installer can identify what is missing and make some suggestions. The system should have a smooth response with no more than 3dB change from octave to octave. And it should have a strong front stage and just a tag bit of rear fill. If they aren't MECP certified and don't know what IASCA stands for then you should walk. Otherwise they will probably just want to sell you some gear.
  3. I agree. I am trying to get my Verizon Storm to stream music over the bluetooth in my 07 RX350 but have not been successful ashte Lexus BT apparently does not support the A2dp . Anyone know of a workaround? The new 10MY RX350 and 10MY Camry will support A2DP. The current systems do not support A2DP v1.3 or v1.0.
  4. Are CD TEXT or ID3 logos on the CD jewel case, or on the audio CD itself? Does it have some other unique logo? WMA MP3 or something else?

  6. The 98's used a Hard Disc Drive. So visit your local Lexus dealer to purchased an update. PT219-F5CPX. They will probably charge for installation.
  7. Check the Lexus LetsTalk website for pairing instructions. Make sure the handset doesn't have a hidden setting like some Motorolas. Make sure the 'Auto Connect' feature is switched on in the navigation system. Press the INFO button, touch 'Telepone', touch 'Settings', then touch 'Auto Connect' if the yellow bar does not appear.
  8. US Lexus GS400 navigation computer will not be compatible with DVD map disc for Middle East.
  9. Nope. Make sure to call Lexus @ 800 255 3987 and request this feature in the future.
  10. Does the noise increase with the engine RPM? If so, you have alternator whine. This is due to a 'noisy' ground, bad ground, RCAs traveling next to a high current wire, or poor power filtering at the source or amps. Additionally, you shouldnt hear this noise coming from the subs since the filter in the amp blocks at that particular frequency due to the low pass filter. In the future, use twisted pair RCAs which are excellent at rejecting induced noise. Or is the noise constant? If so, you have an RCA traveling past a computer. If so, find where the RCAs are traveling across a small metal box. The vehicle's computers are known to emit radio frequency which can be induced onto the RCAs. To verify if this is the case run sum long RCAs from the radio, outside the car into the trunk and see if the noise goes away. My guess is that the difference in ground potential is the culprit. That means the resistance to ground at the source unit is different in comparison to the resistance to ground at the amplifier. Try moving the amp ground wire to another point in the vehicle to see if this changes the level of the noise. Likewise, try moving the source ground to another point to see if the noise decreases. How old is the battery? The battery is the primary device to filter out AC ripple from the alternator. Older batteries are known to allow more AC ripple through to the system. And of course the only way to detect this is via an osciliscope or when you can hear the alternator whine. To check this just connect jumper cables to another (newer) car and power your audio system with their electrical system. Leave your engine OFF during this test. Speed pulse will have to be found at the instrument cluster. You will need an electronic wiring diagram to find the correct wire to tap for the vehicle speed pulse (VSS). Good luck!
  11. You would need an amplifier with high-level inputs instead of low-level inputs (RCA are low level). Does the Kenwood have speaker level inputs? If not, you need to buy an adaptor to convert the high level inputs to low level in order to have the radio in the dash control the relative volume.
  12. First, the ten digit part number on the disc should be 86271-3303X; the last digit does not matter. If you have something else besides a -3303x then you have the wrong disc installed. Second, did you select a different country in the LOADING TAB section hidden within the diagnostic screen? If YES, then you will have to buy a new or remanufactured navigation ECU. The part number is 86841-47020-OW. Hope this helps.
  13. Not sure if your is the same but on my RX it has preset speeds. They normally are low. Example: highway 55mph not 60 or 70. If you go in and adjust the speeds so that they are more in line with the way you drive it will help. Mine still overestimates the time it will take. So ask yourself this first, "How can it know the ETA before I begin driving?" The answer is, the system has some general parameters it uses to the make the initial calculations. As the other respondendent noted... adjust your SET SPEED to match your driving habits. I am sure the Denali has the same feature since the software/hardware are made by the same company.
  14. Yes. The only thing that does not change is the operating system. All of the POIs and mapping information has been updated around the continental US and portions of Canada.
  15. Your 2004 ES330 is a GEN 4 system. The disc part number your require is 86271-3304X.... the higher the last digit the newer the map disc. If you buy it from Lexus the part number is PT219-GEN04-07. MSRP is $250. Lastly, just press the open button on the navigation unit and eject the DVD map disc. Simply installed the new disc and your done.
  16. You can't add Windows Vista to an old computer. Why? The processor and memory won't meet the minumum requirements. If you have a GEN 2/3, 4 or 5 system (you didn't say what the vehicle year and model were) then you will always have a GEN 2/3, 4 or 5 system. However, when you buy and update it will ONLY update the mapping information with new streets, POIs, etc. If it is a hardware issue, can it be updated (e.g. memory) or does it require the complete navigation sysytem to be replaced? Unfortunetely, no alternative hardware can be added other than aftermarket gear.

  18. The ability to zoom in to 75ft is dependent upon the area your in. Major cities such as Los Angeles allows you to zoom in to 75ft.
  19. The updates for GEN2, 3, and 4 are to the POIs and roads only. You will not experience any other enhancements to the operating system.
  20. The DVD map updates only improve the map database. There are no visible changes to the operating system that affect the user interface.
  21. Just dont access a hidden menu that is not listed anywhere in the owners manual and select something that you dont know what it will do. That is like going to REGEDIT in Windows and delete a file and wonder why something doesn't work. And I will let the old cliche about the cat stand on its own merit.
  22. Press MENU panel button, then touch DVD icon at the top right of the screen. You should then see what version is installed.
  23. Good luck. The recovery disk is for GEN 4 only. Now you must accpet the consequences of your actions. Nice thanks for your help you must be the navigation police maybe it would have been better if you had not replied at all. Thanks again and have a nice day. Also if you work for lexus they must be very proud. The only thing I did was access the menu on an operation system and make a mistake you make it sound like a broke laws therefore I must pay. You kind of help no one needs I sincerely hope the rescue disc resolves your issue. I hold no malice towards you, but I am suprised by peoples reactions when they do something silly like select another country for their navigation system when they never have the intention of driving it in that country.
  24. 1. Check diagnostics. 2. How do I check diagnostics? Pay $10 to get get 1 days access to Technical Information Systems (TIS). This allow you unlimited access to learn how to diagnose your vehicle and download wiring diagrams. 3. Or visit a Lexus dealership to have them diagnose the vehicle.
