  1. Press the DEST panel button, then touch the arrow button at the top right corner for page 2 of 2. There you will find the telephone feature you see on page 1 of the LS's DEST menu. Remember, the telephone number input is designed to find businesses only. You cannot get route guidance to a personal address unless you have added the telephone number to a registered address (My Places > MENU button, touch My Places) Lastly, the LS is a GEN 5 HDD system and the GX is a GEN 4 system. All GEN 4 systems are DVD-ROM based while the LS is the only new Hard Disc Drive (HDD) system available from Lexus. The DVD map disc update will only improve the map database. There will be no changes to the user interface.
  2. Good luck. The recovery disk is for GEN 4 only. Now you must accpet the consequences of your actions.
  3. Since this is a GEN 3 system there is no other option except for replacing the navigation computer. You can purchase an out of warranty navigation computer from your Lexus or Toyota dealership. The part number is 86841-33060-OW.
  4. This is 2004 RX330. Need to change ECU? Are you sure? Maybe there is a "total reset" button somewhere in navi comp? Nope. You changed the country tab.... buy a disc from the country you changed it too and then change it back to the US.
  5. The only navigation computer that will work is the 86841-33060. Lots of older Toyotas and Lexus use this computer.
  6. The 2007 LS 460 and 600 incorporate a hard drive based system while the GS utilizes a DVD-ROM system with a different communication network. Consequently, no XM NAV TRAFFIC on the GS or any other Lexus navigation system.
  7. You changed the country tab - now you must buy a new navigation ECU. What is the year and model of the car?
  8. 1. Which entry ramp for the I-70 is this occurring? What state? Does the highlighted route show the correct path but just the voice is inaccurate? Do you have the Compass or North Up mode selected. The compass is located in the upper left hand corner of the map screen. 2. Please verify that the 'Allow Freeways' is selected under Route Preferences. If 'Allow Freeways' is not selected it will direct you off of the freeway at every exit ramp. 3. Did you delete your last route guidance? If you do not delete the last route it will ask to 'ADD TO' or 'REPLACE' when you input a new destination. 4. Have you reviewed the owners manual?
  9. Please consult your Lexus dealer and request warranty repair IF your vehicle is still under warranty. Please provided them the following TSIB number: AU001-04. Basically, the amplifier has an issue that causes it to remain muted after the BT call is ended.
  10. The dealer will simply sell and install an aftermarket Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) system. I would suggest visiting a few aftermarket car stereo shops in your area to find one that sells a quality RSE. I would also suggest finding one that employs MECP certified installers. The product will only be as good as the installation.
  11. The cost cutting comment was a general observation. With the incremental reduction of cost throghout the vehicle, the gross cost of the vehicle is reduced. And yes, any manufacture will try to remove a penny from the cost of an item if they can whether it be a royalty fee or part cost. In aggregrate, it will be a huge cost reduction given the economies of scale. Ask yourself, "Why did Nissan move from California to Tennessee?" Lastly, I tried my GEN 5 navigation system (4Runner) with two store bought CDs and it does not display the track or artist information. Perhaps the Mark Levinson audio system is different but I doubt it. Go to Best Buy and load you store bought CDs and tell me what you find. Pick the cheapest or most expensive CD player and tell us what you found. We would all love to know what your findings reveal about the car audio industry. Lastly, why do you suppose they added the Gracenote database to the hard drive system? Good luck with Lexus.
  12. The LS 460 incorporates the Gracenote database which retrieves the information from the internal HDD and displays the matching information. Various companies (Pioneer Electronics and Alpine Electronics) use the Gracenote database for mobile devices so that the information is readily available. For other Toyota or Lexus vehicles the audio and navigation systems will be different when there is a production change. Remember, manufacturers and their suppliers are under great pressure to lower cost which means some things will be removed or eliminated from future offerings. http://www.gracenote.com/music/ The empty fields you are referring to are for XM satellite radio, radio stations broadcasting RDS information (such as their call sign or artist), and CD-Rs with the encoded ID3 tag information. So did you compare your 07 GX470 with another 07 GX 470, 07 ES 350 or IS 350? Did they operate the same when you inserted the same CD? Your 'complaint' will simply have the dealership confirm your complaint with a like vehicle. This will confirm if there is indeed an issue with your CD player reading the information off of the compact disc. The display is simply a device that displays information from other sources. Secondly, it may prompt the departments that make or review the owners manual to clearly state this information for users such as yourself.
  13. Check with PIE or PAC for auxillary input adapters that allow you to connect your iPod.
  14. The CD player is functioning normally. Only CD players and CDs with the CD TEXT logo will display artist and title information. Most of the CD TEXT albums were produced by Sony since they hold the patent on this technology. Its very likely that they elected not to pay the royalty since so few audio CDs were encoded withthe CD TEXT information. The only other way is to use CD-Rs that have the ID3 tag information added to the burned CD-R. If you use popular programs like Windows Media Player or Nero the information is retrieved from the web and encoded onto the CD-R. Consequently, the information you desire will be visible. Lastly, do not insert CD-Rs with adhesive labels. The labels are known to come unglued and jamn the CD player mechanism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CD-Text
  15. I noticed today that Lexus has added a new option, if you have registered on Lexus.com, to submit a missing address or business, check to see what is available on the current map disc, check city listings and verify which DVD map disc fits your vehicle. Go to www.lexus.com and click on OWNER at the top of the page. Just register and you will have unlimited access to these features. Remeber, you must have your VIN to register.
  16. Touch 'Map View", then Show POI Icon, then touch 'POI Off' to remove the POIs. Or you can press the steering wheel switch for voice recognition and say, "POI OFF" or "Hide All Icons."
  17. First, not every part of the US is mapped. Second, the navigation system is working normally. Route guidance is available only on roads that are black (surface streets), red (interstates), and blue (high speed roads). You will not receive guidance on roads that are yellow since they have not been verified by the mapping company. Third, you can purchase an update for $300 from your local Lexus dealership. Prior to doing so please check anothe brand new vehicle with V6.1 to see if the areas that do not have any info have been updated. If you check an 07MY ES350, RX350, GS350 or GX470 they should have V6.1 installed. Good luck.
  18. Buy the wiring diagram for $10 bucks on http://techinfo.lexus.com/. Then you can have all the information you want for one day!
  19. Sorry. The GEN 4 (2004 LS430) system does not allow for you to manually input a contact. Only GEN 5 systems allow for users to add new contacts. Your best bet is to check LetsTalk.com for Lexus and find a handset that is more compatible with your vehicle in comparison to your current handset.
  20. The most current from Lexus is V6.1 PT219-GEN23. The Lexus dealerships sell these for $300 - $350 per DVD map disc plus installation. Otherwise you might have to check eBay for a previously used disc for your GEN 2 navigation system. Be sure the part number is 86271-3303X... just get the hightest number available in the last digit.
  21. 1. Look at the Navigation Quick Guide... not the owners manual. 2. Touch the voice trigger on the steering wheel and say or touch HELP. Some of the commands are listed by feature such as Climate Control, Radio and Navigation.
  22. Besides a few firmware updates that are transparent, the overall system operation will not be changed. In other words, your RX 330 (GEN 4) operating system will not change to match the charachteristics of the ES 350 (GEN 5)
  23. The hidden menu has been eliminated.
  24. Press the TALK switch on the steering wheel, then after the beep say, "Dial by Number." The system will prompt you to say the 10 digit number after pressing the TALK switch again. Make sure that the interior cabin is quiet. Lastly, check out the Navigation Quick Guide hidden amongst the other owners manuals for other useful tips.
  25. Unless you want to buy a new navigation ECU, you need to visit your local Lexus dealership and have the local FTS bring in a SDRAM clear disc to reset your navigation ECU.
