  1. jack the car up and take the underpannel off. you will see the steering rack and look at the mounting points. you can check if they are worn by trying to turn the tire. if the rack moves the bushing is completely gone like mine.
  2. you have to have a windshield installer remove and reseal. you may need to buy a new trim if it is really worn. they may have a universal trim for it
  3. check this thread out: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...hl=rack+bushing
  4. 97 side skirts and rear.
  5. thats a good deal!
  6. you should have got the v8 if your a mopar guy! you would have loved it! there are a few exhausts out there try to avoid the single outlet exhausts as they are quite loud. the dual exhausts usually give you a nice sporty tone.
  7. the gauge will read 25-45 psi only when the compressor is running. the fact that there is still gas in the system but your ac doesnt turn on says that there is a slow leak and the pressure dropped below threshold so the compressor wont turn on. take it to an ac shop with a sniffer and they can determine where its leaking from while there is still gas in there.
  8. wow mexico got an extension!? i still have probably closet to 25lbs left in my can. for such occasions because 134 sucks in r12 systems.
  9. buy half nut wrenches so you dont strip the fittings.
  10. you cant just add freon to a system without pulling a vaccum first. this is true for all cars. anyway to answer your question. you are NEVER supposed to forcefully turn the compressor on by bypassing any sensors. when you fill the car with gas you have to have the a/c button on inside of the car. the can of freon being at a higher pressure then your a/c system or in your case a system at near atmospheric pressure, will flow from a high pressure to low pressure. kind of like filling your tire with air. once the pressure inside the system becomes high enough the pressure sensor in the system gives an ok to activate the clutch on the compressor thus turning your compressor.
  11. first of all where did you get r12? second: if you add r12 to a system with moisture in it the gas, moisture and oil will react and give you HCL or hydro cholric acid. r12 is dichloral difloural methane gas the chorine and hydrogen from the moisture in H2O will give you that reaction. acid through your 1000 dollar compressor does wonders! third: if you forcefully activate the compressor without pressure failure will occur. and that is NOT the correct way to do it. the pressure switch is there to protect your expensive compressor not for you to bypass it and turn it on maunally. fourth: if your "adding" freon to a system thats low enough that the compressor doesnt turn on then there is an obvious leak and all you are doing is wasting money as r12 goes for $600~$1000 for a 30lb bottle.
  12. are you sure you put the belt on the right way?
  13. the sc reduces steering assist while driving at freeway speeds i dont think there is anything wrong with that. the tentioner may have another bolt or two. take a careful look. something may be covering it. also your voltage regulator may be bad on your alternator or it could be a battery.
  14. try do a search on BFI that will give you some ideas on how to modify the stock intake.
  15. you can glue that back on. it wont cause the headlight to leak as they are sealed internally.
  16. there are places that can rebuild your original hose for a reasonable price. if you dont feel like looking in the yellow pages for a hose supply/repair place an oem hose was i think close to $400.
  17. you could go as far as putting a cap full of oil in each spark plug hole but i dont think its really needed. what you can that might be a good idea if you go that far is while you have the plugs out crank the engine to get the oil primed. but then again its a toyota it will run forever hehe!
  18. if you have to ask for instructions on something as simple as how to change spark plugs i suggest you take it to a mechanic.
  19. it could be something simple such as intake route or exhaust route
  20. honestly the difference is minimal if any.
  21. you can swap anything over. as long as you have all the wiring and everything but it wont be easy at all and if your looking to do this to save a little gas from the highway cruising rpm its totally not worth it. you may as well buy the car.
  22. kbb.com
  23. have the code read and report back.
  24. rich smoke would be black smoke. maybe oil?
