  1. towing the boats a few times a year shouldn't be a problem. i wouldn't use tihs vehicle to tow boats for miles on a weekly basis compared to the mercedes SUV?..hmm..the RX is the best selling luxury vehicle of 2005..need i say more?
  2. Unidirectional..meaning they only work in one direction. I was thinking if what you are saying is true about there being one white side and one black side, then it would still be possible to have the black side face out and have the tires spin in the correct direction. Say for instance i put the tire on the front right side and the white letter is facing out, I can take the same tire and move it across to the front left side and have the black wall face out and still have the tire spin in the correct direction.(This would hide the white lettering) Make sense?
  3. Are you guys anal about the way the tires "look" on your car? I notice many of the Michelin tires have the white lettering on the tire which some may find not too aesthetically pleasing. I have heard some say, just turn the tire around and I have the white lettering face inward. Of course you could always buy the tires with the blackwall w/o the white lettering but not all places sell the variants w/o the white lettering. With that said, is there a wrong way to put on the tire? If i were to flip the tire such that the white letter faces inward, could this impact the traction of the ride? Kinda stupid question, but I thought I'd ask. I'm interested in purchasing some Michelins as my next tire but notice most of these tires carry the white letter (or am I wrong?) Thanks!
  4. same here..i have using the tape adaptor in my 01 Rx300..i wish there was a hook up for my ipod
  5. If you car has 39,000kilometers which is about 24,200 miles, this should certainly be covered warranty for you. Those belts are good for about 60,000 miles and it looks like you haven't even reached half life yet but they are already making noise. I'd have it checked out. I've seen others on this forum who have gotten the AC/powersteering belts replaced for free. I just received both my v-belts today ( alternator and power steering). now I just need to find some mechanic who can change it w.o !Removed! up the car =]. hopefully they won't rip me off. how much is a reasonable job cost?
  6. Ebay has a few to choose from tight now as well... http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?c...mats&category0= yeah, I am thinking about buying the RX330 all weather floor mats, but not sure if it will fit my RX300. Word is they do but I am hoping someone can confirm. I ordered the RX330 all weather floor mats for my car. I contacted the rep at iron toad and he told me that they fit the rx300 perfectly. I been looking for BLACK all weather mats but haven't been able to find any with the lexus emblem on them. Hopefully these fit as promised. FYI, the RX330 all weather mats fit my RX300 almost perfectly. I am happy that i was able to find some black mats to match my black on black car.
  7. myself as well: pdnguyen3@aol.com Thanks!
  8. I did this with my car. The power steering belt doesn't hvae a part number on it...it did show something like E = 13 or something. The A/C alternator belt on my car did have a part number labeled = 80090 - 91147...it was a 10 digit part number. I think it's old part # cause i couldnt' find any part numbers on this forum match that. mine is a 2001 RX300
  9. Thank, God! Glad your car is finally fixed. It's a pain to be without a car and having to deal with problems like this. Cheers.
  10. I have this problem too. It's very similar. The hissing noise only happens when the "A/C" button is enabled and the fans are blowing. The hissing noise is intermittent and comes one every 5-10 seconds. I've brought it in to Lexus and the technician told me it seems like the noise occurs when the freon is injected. I brought the car in multiple times to the dealership for this very problem and every time they add more freon but it doesn't seem to help. They added a special ink in the freon as well to detect a possible leak, but came up with nothing. It's a pretty annoying noise that is ouder than normal. I just turn up the radio now when I need to use the A/C. It's winter time now, so I don't use the A/C at all, but during the summer this is a consistent problem. I wouldn't spend hundreds of bucks to fix this but the sound could be annoying. any help is appreciated
  11. can you post some pics of your set up? does the ipod plug in from the top thru the headphone jack or the bottom thru the other jack? Jim, if you have any pictures to share, that would be cool. I am trying to hook up my ipod right now as well. I am currently going through the tape deck, but this isnt' the best solution. Additionally, I don't have the high end Nackimichi either so I am not sure what solution is best.

  13. I called up the guy at iron toad to order the power steering and referenced the number above. He didn't find this part number in his system. I mentioned it was a toyota part number (not necessarily a lexus). He looked for the correct belt for my car (01 RX300) and came up with "90080-91088-83" and insisted this was the right one. Could the part number he provided me be the "Lexus Part number". As I understand it, Lexus and toyota often times use different part numbers for the same product. Thanks

  15. Thanks, guys. I am a bit unfamiliar with the accessory belt and V-belt. Could you guys provide some insight into what they are and what purpose they serve? I'll probably go pick up a can of the belt dressing and try that out. Where are these belts located? Thanks! The belts are on the passenger side of the engine. Looking from the front with the hood open the one in the front is the a/c, alternator belt and the one below and to the rear is the power steering pump belt. The timing belt is enclosed and can not be seen. thanks mikey..this is very helpful information
  16. Just an observation I noticed. I had called Piercy Toyota and Capitol Toyota and requested quotes for the same work. Capitol was substantially cheaper than Piercy. I have never had my work done at Piercy so I can't say much about the quality.

  18. I have been looking everywhere for BLACK all weather floormats for my 01 RX300. I heard the all-weather floor mats for the RX330 fit the RX300 (based on what irontoad says) I am thinking about buying these for my car, since Lexus only carries the all weather mats for the 300 in only gray and beige. Do any of you guys know if they fit or at least know if the layout of the floor is the same in both the rx330 and rx300?
  19. I had my work done at Capitol Toyota. They did a nice job. There was a minor leak in my differential. I took it back and they fixed it. No problems at all. Talk to Tony and he will take care of you. YOu can mention Peter with the black RX300.
  20. Thanks, guys. I am a bit unfamiliar with the accessory belt and V-belt. Could you guys provide some insight into what they are and what purpose they serve? I'll probably go pick up a can of the belt dressing and try that out. Where are these belts located? Thanks!
  21. Hi Guys, On occassion when I start up my car in the morning, I hear a high pitched revolving noise coming from my engine after I have started my car. I notice it tends to happen in the morning when I start my car. After I have driven my car around and turn it on later in the day, the noise is not present. I noticed that if i don't drive my car for a day or two, the noise will be present when I start my car in the morning. I THINK it's the timing belt, but I really have no idea. It's an 01 RX300 with about 61K miles. I've been reading on the forum that the belt doesn't need to be replaced until a minimum 90k and many replace it at 120k+. When I took my car in for the 60k tune-up the dealer recommended I replaced my brake fluid and replace my timing belt. I thought he was just trying to take more $ from me since I had already changed my brake fluid at 30K and a timing belt lasts pretty long. any truth? have any of you guys experienced the same? any suggestions/help is appreciated. happy holidays thanks
  22. 20 bucks is a good deal. I wouldn't pay 70+ for these plastic cupholders. They aren't "high quality" or anything, and just kinda do their job.
  23. I am using the cassette adapter and it works great. I turn the volume up on the ipod to about 75% and set the EQ to acoustic (on the ipod). sounds great! Not intrusive, but you have to deal with the cord from the tape. Other than that it works great.
  24. i got my k&n filter at walmart for about $35 bucks which i don't think is bad at all. i believe an OEM filter cost almost 20 bucks so it pays for itself after 2 changes with the OEM, plus you get the added performance enhancement.
