  1. hey guys, I have a 2001 RX300 Silversport. My headlights are the regular halogens. This headlight housing isnt the "auto-leveling" one you guys mention of before right? HIDs didn't come with my car so I would need to replace the headlight housing if i wanted the "real" HIDs, correct? I been thinking about getting new lights for my car so just wanted to figure out my options correctly. the silverstars definitely look nice. There are soo many 9006 "imitation" xenons on ebay. Do you guys have a recommendation? I am still not sure if I just want the silverstars (bright white) or if i want a kinda minorly blueish tint light. any feedback is greatly appreciated! :)
  2. I just had my transmission flushed at a Toyota Dealership. They used ATF Type IV - 16 gallons. I notice my transmission runs smoother, and no problems yet. 61K miles and going strong. I checked the fluid when i got home and it's nice and pink. I am not sure what good a drain and fill would do if you are only changing 4 gallons of the ATF when there is about 16 total gallons in the system. I've had a mazda and had to replace the transmission twice. I am taking no chances with this one.
  3. I emailed Fremont lexus about this issue. I got a response back from the appointment coordinator. Her exact reply was "I don't think this is covered under warranty. The warranty period is for 4 years or 50K miles, whichever comes first.".....AHHH..what a crock =[
  4. Good call, LexKid!! As soon as I read this I tried your procedure on my car. It was about 10pm at night I didn't have the ScratchX from Autozone, so I looked through my cleaners and found Meguiar's Deep Crystal Polish. I basically applied the polish with my microfiber towels and polished away with some SERIOUS elbow grease. I've never polished soo hard in my life, but you're right. It took me about 30 mins on just one headlight, but it has greatly improved the lens and got rid of most of the "haze". Thanks! I suppose the ScratchX will work better than the deep polish though. Maybe I'll pick some up next time Im at the store. Cheers
  5. The basic issue is when I open my rear door (lift gate) of my 01 RX300, the door opens to about 80% of the regular height just fine, but the last 20% it opens REALLY slowly. I heard I will need to replace the 2 rear hatch lift supports. Is this true? Is this covered under warranty? I have a 2001 RX 300 Silversport with 61k miles. Thanks!
  6. You need 2 rear hatch lift supports. Bad news is the dealer gets about $500 for 2 installed and no aftermarket companies make them to fit the RX. There is a outfit in Canada that rebuilds them but shippping back and forth accross the border is more of a hassle than it is worth. You can get oem ones from an online Lexus dealer for about $128 each. Here is a link: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...m?siteid=213808 ← Do you guys know if this is covered under warranty?
  7. I currently have the same problem on in my lex and the only fix i've heard of is to buy a new headlight which is lame. I don't know if there is a way to take off the plastic cover to clean it.
  8. I did my major tune-up at a Toyota dealership and it cost me almost half the price lex was going to charge me. I talked to my service consultant and he knew what he was talking when i asked him various questions about my Lexus.
  9. Amen to that.. I just had a major tune-up done at a Toyota dealership and it saved me $ for the same service @ almost half the price.
  10. Like I said, I got the K&N from walmart for $35. The regular paper filter costs me $18 everytime I change it so this K&N pays for itself if I plan to change my air filter at least twice. I don't race my RX300 and I don't plan to in the future ,however I like the idea that this will last me forever and I get improved performance. Bottom line is wash it every 50k and don't over oil it and you'll be ok.
  11. Hi RX-ers I've tried to search on this issue but haven't found any topics discussing my particular issue. The basic issue is when I open my rear door (lift gate) of my 01 RX300, the door opens to about 80% of the regular height just fine, but the last 20% it opens REALLY slowly. When I came home from the store this weekend, I unloaded the first shipment of goods from the rear cargo area. When I came back 20 seconds later for the second shipment, I hit my head on the rear door cause it wasn't fully opened. :chairshot: I was thinking about spraying some WD 40 or something, but not sure if this will work. I looked closely at the hydraulic pump (that opens the rear door) and it says there is some gas contained within there. Any ideas on what I can do? Do I have to buy a new hydraulic pump thing-a-majig? (or actually two of them - one for each side?) I only have 61K miles on the car..i think this isn't under warranty anymore though which is 4 yrs/ 50K i believe. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!!
  12. Exactly...John Controls also manufactures DieHard, Duralast, Energizer, and Eveready and Interstate... I am using a Kirkland Battery in my car....I got it for cheap. No problems at all. couldn't be more satisfied!
  13. Just want to add new info. I have a chance to talk with a Lexus Technician. I mention to him my concern about oil in TRD filter can oil the air mass sensor. He told me that to avoid any lawsuit, Lexus agrees to replace air mass filter in that case without question. He said that there should not be any issue of using TRD or K&N air filter. ← So guys, I have seen some dicussions where dust or oil may get in the system due to the use of a K&N filter. Is there any truth to this? I just bought one yesterday and installed it. It's working great, but I want to make sure I don't mess up my car. Does anyone have any insight into this? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!
  14. Thanks a bunch lordzatez....this is exactly the info I was looking for. Appreciate your help. Lee ← Of those three toyota part numbers, which one matches the Lexus OEM type brake pads for the front? How about the back? Thanks
  15. I have the exact same problem on my Lexus. The passenger side headlight is crystal clean. The driver side headlight has hazy build-up. I thoroughly cleaned the ourside of the light, however it does no good and I've come to realize that build up on is the inside. Does anyone know if there is a way to take off the plastic cover of the headlight so i can get to it and clean it? any help is appreciated.
  16. awesome! i appreciate the feedback. I'll check out the plug in the front and most likely replace at a later time since they are iridium. thanks for the feedback
  17. Hopefully just Denso these days otherwise the plugs you are using are nearly 10 years old as the company changed it's name in 1996 :P ← I stand corrected , Thank You , DENSO it is !!!! ← where do you guys usually pick up your denso plugs? online or at the dealership or what?
  18. hey guys, is it true that we shouldn't be using platinum spark plugs in our rx? i have an 01 rx300 silversport and im about to get my 60k. im gonna getmy plugs replaced, and was considering "upgrading" to platinum, but it seems like from the comment above, i should stick with denso?..comments? any help is appreciated.
  19. Original spark plug is denso..toyota owns part of this company - they also make the oil filter among other things..
  20. Where is a good place to buy the weathertech mats for a deal? Thanks
  21. thanks, DC fish...couple of questions.. What do you mean by "mode" button?.. is that a button on the Radio/AC dash? How hard is it to complete what you just mentioned? Sounds a bit challenging. I wouldn't say I am a pro, but I can do the regular stuff like change my oil, filters, and conduct minor services. thanks
  22. it's sad that lexus does not sell RX300 all-weather floor mats in black..only tan and gray! I have been looking everywhere including ebay. the ones they show in pictures are black, but for some reason no dealership carries that color. i know for the RX330 they have them in black, but those won't fit the RX300..if anyone has any suggestions, i'd appreciate it! thanks!
  23. Just heard back from Fremont Lex again. I asked them if they clean the throttle body and they mention "I have asked one of my service writer's about this. Cleaning the throttle body will not resolve this issue.".... ...ok??????but replacing the IACV will?
