    Road Trips !

.....maybe there aren't any great driving roads in the US then? Prove me wrong and let us know about them, what about Route 66, is there much of it left to drive?
  2. Hi Greg, Where was the replacement fitting located (in the engine bay) and could you find out what was removed to fit it, as sometimes its easy to dislodge a sensor connection? An exhaust leak is also possible if it has raised an issue with the Cat. Cheers Trevor
  3. Very unlikely that would occur as the fans would run through a fuse which will just blow if you short circuit the system. More than likely, you may have dislodged a sensor. I would look in the area you were working in and see if there is any wiring or connectors going to any sensors on the engine, in particular the Crankshaft Sensor.
  4. Hi Doanh...welcome to the Club! To start with you'll need good access to the underside of the vehicle to drain the fluid and then the means to dispose of it. The correct type of oil is listed in the following link http://www.castrol.com/ and it is recommending 6.5 litres of fully synthetic fluid Hopefully some other members will know the exact procedure for replacing it. Cheers Trevor
  5. Hi Gary...welcome to the Club! I would imagine there should be some retaining screws for the cover...if so slacken the off put the cover down and gently raise it again to nip up the screws to realign it. Just a thought! Anyone got any ideas? Cheers Trevor
  6. Hi Larry...welcome to the Club! Not sure, but it sounds like it could be a worn joint or tie-rod or something that allows excess movement in the drivetrain when under load. Worth checking the play on the engine mountings or in the driveshafts to be sure. Let us know how you get on with it. Cheers Trevor
  7. This topic post should answer your questions Cheers Trevor
  8. Hi John...welcome to the Club! It sounds like you have a problem with an auxiliary drivebelt which is attached to the power steering, alternator and probably air conditioning as well. The problem may be with one of the connected auxiliaries or a guide pulley going faulty and probably seizing then the belt is dragging over the pulleys hence the burning smell and loss of battery power. Once the battery has recovered in the morning then it will restart but will fail again later. You will need to take it in to replace the drivebelt and find out why it went in the first place. Let us know how you get on with it. Cheers Trevor
  9. Hi Ben...welcome to the Club! A bit confused by the 'computer fried' since fitting fans...what actually occurred? Cheers, Trevor
  10. Hi Evan...welcome to the Club! I would say the best thing is to contact the dealer and 'jog their memory' to remind them that they (possibly!) they would do a great deal when you return it for it's first service since purchase....it's worth a try. This link will take you to Castrol website which features an oil selector for your car. http://www.castrol.com/en_us/united-states.html then go to 'Find' the right oil for your car' Let us know how you get on with it Cheers, Trevor
  11. I'll start it off then! ....Stylish and prestigious looks...
  12. So what do you like about Lexus? In just a few words, describe what you best like about your Lexus....comfortable ride, great looks....over to you!
  13. Hi Jon...welcome to the Club I wonder how many amps the boot light circuit could optimistically supply without compromising any wiring or fuses, etc. If not, I've used a cigar lighter extension lead (fused) to extend into the boot for a coolbox. Let us know how you get on Cheers, Trevor
  14. Hi all, This is the time of year when we Brits tend to take off in our cars and head for the empty, twisty and completely awesome driving roads of Europe. Has anyone else got any road trips planned for this year...coast to coast, mountains, etc ? ....or is it just me then? Cheers, Trevor
  15. If you turn the headlamps on and turn the ignition to start position...do the lights dim down? If so, the starter is taking a current draw, meaning the battery is providing power to the starter but the solenoid is faulty. If the lights do not dim, then the starter is not taking a current draw and there is a problem in the circuit to the starter...ignition, immobiliser, etc
  16. white screen of death...I think they call it
  17. when did the noise first start...and had any work been carried out in the heating / ventilation area? Pollen filter may be worth checking and maybe take out to eliminate the whether it could be creating or amplifying the noise
  18. Hi Rich, Thanks for sharing this mod with us...definitely a cost saving over the original item. Best bet is to email Steve to discuss going forward with your idea lexusoc@gmail.com Regards Trevor
  19. There is a TSB for this problem http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=17747
  20. Hey Charles..that is really effective, and at a very low cost (I assume?)
  21. I could hazard a guess at either the injector seals have failed or the injectors themselves...ether way I would book it into a good Diesel specialist to look at.
  22. Thanks for that information Pishta, very useful for other members that may experience the same noise. I do wonder if the pads were slightly loose in the calipers so therefore slightly chattering going over bumps. Good luck with the bodywork
  23. Well I only know it for the Honda system...which may be completely different but it was a case of holding the mirror and rear screen demist button and pressing a combination of other function buttons within a certain timeframe. This then puts the system in a relearn mode and it cycles through the system and then is reset.
  24. Hi Aram, I can only suggest a reboot of the Nav system...possibly disconnecting the power to it for a while and reconnect. Anyone else help with this one?
