  1. Would be interested to see what gains you get with economy and/or performance. Usually the Air Mass Meter runs a larger current through on start up to burn off dust, etc from the element but I'm also convinced that occasional cleaning with the correct spirit helps...keep us informed as to how it is going
  2. Hi Brandon...welcome to the Club! I wonder that as you have only just bought the car, that there was an existing problem already there and it is just a coincidence about the fuel. Any members out there come across this problem as well?? Let us know how you get on Regards Trevor
  3. Hi Tim...welcome to the club! I would agree with your diagnosis of the instrument panel being faulty. I believe there are issues with the electrical connections having bad joints within the panel itself so maybe consider a complete rebuild of the instrument panel rather than just a component within it. Let us know how you get on with it Regards Trevor - Admin
  4. I would always advise anyone undoing wheel nuts on alloy wheels to use this type of socket which has nylon protection around it to avoid damaging the wheels http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-pc-Alloy-Wheel-Deep-Impact-Nut-Socket-Set-17-19-21mm-1-2-Thin-Wall-Kit-/252198421956?hash=item3ab83285c4:g:OY4AAOSwnipWYUmn
  5. Hi Donna, Sounds like it is a faulty door switch or loose connection onto one of them. A good auto electrician should be able to find it easily by 'wiggling' each switch contact and see if the interior light comes on or goes off. Shouldn't take long to find the fault Regards Trevor
  6. Hi Dan I would think an ECU re-map would be the first port of call for enhancing the power output, but wouldn't know who to recommend Regards Trevor
  7. Sorry, I did not know that...most other vehicle warranties would not cover any parts that are susceptible to wear and tear, bearings included. I hope you can get some recourse from the dealer as it's only just outside of the mileage....you could ask them to do it as a 'gesture of goodwill' and suggest that you would consider buying a replacement vehicle from them in the future if their customer after sales service gives you the confidence to use them again?
  8. I know the feeling when you brake and the whole world knows it If the pads are dry (e.g. no compound on the contact metal parts...not the friction lining material though) then this can lead to the resonance which is the squealing noise. If it was mine, I would take the pads out, ensure the correct shim kit is fitted and apply anti-squeal compound to the pads and carrier where the pads sit. If all else fails then I would replace the pads themselves as occasionally the friction lining material can generate noise (usually a graunching sound) if they are cheap/poor quality.
  9. Hi Moe, If it is water ingress into the electrics then I'm sure it will be okay once dried out. Long term damage on the other hand, that may be another issue Regards Trevor
  10. Had exactly the same relay fail on my Honda CR-V Replaced it for around £3.60 GBP and had to reset the Engine Management warning lamp and reset the Climate Control system. Cheap fix !
  11. Well it certainly does have stunning looks but not sure the front grille will be easy to pick the dead bugs out of, however it does look amazing from every angle
  12. Hi Dotti...welcome to the Forum ! I would say that possibly if all six coils have shown signs of misfiring then probably best to replace with genuine parts but I would say good quality aftermarket components should be okay to fit as well (Bosch, Denso). However, Spark Plugs...I would only use the best you can get (e.g. NGK, Champion) as cheap plugs could give misfires and fail prematurely. Let us know how you get on Regards Trevor
  13. Hi, Maybe we should rename this Forum section to 'LS400 - Classic & Modified' as this is generally what is occurring to the one's over in the UK. Just a thought :-) Trevor
  14. I know on Honda climate control there is a reset procedure for the electronic panel to power down and recalibrate the settings when powering back up (done by holding demist button and pressing fan speed button several times, if I remember correctly)....not too sure if Lexus has this facility? Also, worth checking all the vents are actually open and allowing the cold air flow through them. Regards Trevor - Moderator
  15. Hi Reena I have attached a link to the Castrol website which you can enter your vehicle details to find out the correct grade of oil. http://www.castrol.com/en_us/united-states.html I would only use the correct grade and specifications as modern engines are very particular about the oil used. Regards Trevor
  16. Hi Anna, Unfortunately, I don't think it would have been covered under warranty as it is classed as 'wear & tear' but if something had broken or failed instantly then maybe there could have been some recourse. Sorry, but I think you will have to absorb this one unless the dealer only charges for the part or labour as a good will gesture. Good luck Trevor - Moderator
  17. Hi, I would say the brakes are squealing because of the pads fitting in the carrier/slider and have movement enough to resonate and create a high frequency noise. Where the pads fit in position, there is usually some sort of fitting kit (anti-rattle clips and shims) that should be fitted along with Copperslip or some other insulative compound. DON'T FORGET THE COMPOUND - AND ENSURE YOU ONLY APPLY IT WHERE IT IS REQUIRED! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Disc-Brake-Hardware-Kit-fits-2001-2014-Lexus-IS350-GS350-GS450h-LS430-/291273414475?hash=item43d13f974b Hope this helps?
