I totally agree with you Brandon, a CAI is pointless if you cant put it under the center of the car. its also dangerous for your engine and makes going through any water of considerable depth impossible. dont drive at freeway speeds in the rain either. If you really want a true CAI thats BEST, remove your hood and stic the filter straight up off a pipe in the center of the engine bay going straight down to the TB. It woudl look rediculous, but it would be functional. your right SK, it is simple physics. Simple physics says (to me and my experience and education from VoTech school) that the less distance air has to travel to get to the chamber the better. This intake, has 2 small bends, a CAI will have 3 or 4 extreme angles, in addition to having to travel an additional 2 ft. to get to the combustion chamber. the air will have to flow UP as well, and without a turbo this is VERY INEFFICIENT. like i said...physics. Explain why toyota engineers have put cai's in all of there vehicles and not short intakes ? Do you really think you are out engineering the best of the best ?

  4. If the pump was replaced ? The pump would be fine. It looks like the gasket/seal job went south. I am under the impression when the pump fails it is due to the impellers being worn to the point that they don't move coolant as they should causing overheating. I may be wrong ? SRK is correct that if you sent your car for timing belt change, dealers don't really change water pump/pulley/idler volunteerly unless you tell them to! I guess it's because dealers can charge you the labor mulitple times to replace each component by it's own. if your dealer is willing to replace water bump and timing belt at this point, you definately insist on the whole 9 yards: idler, pulley, CAM/Crank seals. even if they don't, you still want to spend your own dollars to do these multiple things by one shot. you don't really want to pay for the same labor cost again for just one failed CAM seal! Wanda, I totally agree with you on this

  7. If you changed 1 side you are going to have problems with the other side, When it comes to tires/brakes/suspension and alot of other items both sides need to be done at the same time. Why would you change just 1 side anyway ?
  8. Connection/contacts/cleanliness. Do not discount the sensor. Figured it out, one of the screws was not all the way down and caused the temp gauge to not have the right current to it and now its working perfectly fine I thought so, Glad you found the prob. I take cashiers check and money orders, Thanx. ;)
  9. #1 the throttle cable should not be tight as to increase the idle, Put it back to factory position. Clean your throttle body/intake/change air filter.

  11. No AIM. The reason why we discuss this on these boards is to enlighten others ( and ourselves ). It would be defeating the purpose of these forums if this were private.
  12. Very good, Double check everything and clean any contacts that are exposed while uninstalling including all three connections on the back of the cluster.
  13. Well, I can tell you that the screws and the surfaces of the boards are part of the continuity and resistance of the cluster. It has to go back together exactly as it was. Maybe the guage is shot. You can change just the guage, It slides out quite easily.
  14. You had to take the circuit board off of the main board right ? It sounds like something got jolted or loosened, Maybe the contacts. Sometimes those boards get brittle.
  15. I beleive it is the 7443 bulb, The clips are cheap. Check your local autozone or similar store for the clips.

Easy job. You might want to get replacement hold downs for the trunk liner, You'll break 1 or 2 when taking them out. What I do is change both sides, The other side will be going out shortly anyway.   18. Welcome to the club The filter goes on the return line, That would be on the passenger side. While your at it install a tranny cooler. Install it on the same side as the filter.

You might want to search wrecker yards for the headunit, Google used car parts and put in a few requests for the part. You will get several offers within a day or two. DCfish - Thanks for the hype...I don't know about a monster maybe a disaster is the right word.....Just kidding, the cars actually runs fantastic, and I am actually getting suprised at how fast this car is becoming, and it's a fun hobby for me. This problem is really no biggie just hated spending that much time on something that didn't work out. Need to move on and this is the route I should have gone with from the start, total deletion of the hydraulic pump....my bad... We fail so we can succeed When do you plan on forced air ?
