  1. Search these forums, All the info you ever need is here. Save big $$$ use the http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...?act=Search&f=7 function and read, read, read.................
  2. Walk us through what you had to do to replace the old bumper and the cover. We could use this for future reference because there are soooo many rear bumps that occur. Thanx in advance. Pix would be a major +. ;)
  3. Hey Freak, Some people take there whole life ( with an average of an 85 year old @ 365 days a year 31025.00 times and they don't get it right ) 600 is nothing.
  4. This seems to be fairly common. I know some members persuaded Lexus in to changing their belts for free. I had a Lexus shop in Dallas change my driver's side belt (before I knew you could corner Lexus in to it) for something like $200 or $250. I travel alone mostly as did the PO of my car, so the driver's belt was the only defective one in my car...I'd actually have to feed it back in the the tensioner when I'd get out of the car. It's great to have a seatbelt that works! Might help. seatbelt_cleaning_lexus.pdf
  5. I concur w/Blakes comment, Take it back and kindly let them know that you want the predescribed service done. I can only imagine that the service writer went by the book and not with your demands. After all as the owner and payer of asked for services you are in the right. Bring it back and enjoy the doughnuts and coffee. ;)
  6. Hey Mel, There is no way that you put a new bumper on, I could see a bumper cover (maybe)The cover has to be removed then the old ( actual ) bumper has to be removed, Not a DIY in the driveway job. Detailed explaination is in order as to not confuse future viewers/members. :whistles:
  7. I found this to be very interesting. Read the caption under the video. http://www.steelcitysfinest.com/HondaAccordAd.htm
  8. There is no way on gods green earth that a V engine is smoother than a inline engine. ;)
  9. It is your imagination playing with you. If you want more road feel , Lower it, Get it aligned and put some wider tires on it. Coilovers are the way to go.
  10. Gentlemen, The main reason why you aren't getting any responses to your topic is that not many lex owners here destroy there OEM systems. You will always run across some trouble with matching any amp/speakers/subs etc... to the stock system, Either replace the entire system and run it independant or expect trouble sometime/somewhere down the line. I could go on forever. Some members say all is good with there replacement components but ????? Good Luck
  11. Nope, No manual in these babies.
  12. Guess what ? The amp you bought was probably sold by another sc owner that went through exactly what you are going through now. It is the amp. The worst location for an amp from any car mfg'er. They always get wet and short out. You probably paid a good price for that boat anchor. Return it. Difficult find. Good Luck. I mean that in a good way.
  13. Well, I am 6' 4" w/ a 98 g3 and leg room is no prob for me, Easy to work on - very easy. The only problem I had was #2 injector went out 3 years ago and NO probs since. This has been a very reliable car, Just keep up on the regular maintenance and your good to go, For a longggggg time.
  14. In one word, NO. Long story, Either replace the entire system or find a top of the line hack that can convert the dvd files and replace the current files on the hard drive in the same format. Almost impossible.
  15. 98 g3, 20 mpg around town and 25 mpg on the highway.
  16. I have pursued quotes on my gs in the past and $3k-$5k is in line, I am getting to the point where the black is getting to be a PITA and was looking at silver or ??? Love the car, Just want to look @ different colors with the black interior which I wouldn't want to give up unless I would go with coach/Tan.
  17. That is one scorchin ride, Congrats
  18. actually, I think, you will find that both engines are the same inline 6 cylinder (2JZ-GE). steviej Correct, Same engine.
  19. Well, You did gain 67k, What warranty did they provide ? I don't think one could tell by the seat of his/her pants. I wouldn't be too concerned about how the engine was treated prior to the install, Most likely cared for at a dealer. Did you get the history of the transplant ? they gave me a 6month warranty. Did they use all of your original exterior engine parts 9 alternator, intake and the like ? Did they just replace the block and head ?

  21. Have you tried www.taprecycling.com ? Usually a good place for used lex parts. Someone else more informed on the sc should be chiming in shortly. ;)
  22. Same basic motor, Just some design differences to fit in the IS's engine bay. Don't quote me on this but I think the gs 3.0 l6 is rated @220 hp and the is is rated @215 hp. Yea edmunds said the 03 IS is rated at 218. Should i be happy or sad. I went from 85,000 to 18,000 Well, You did gain 67k, What warranty did they provide ? 24. The trunk handle ( the strip above the liscensplate ) which houses the bulb's has to be removed from inside the trunk, Remove the liner and you will see a couple of nuts that hold the handle on. Remove and push out on the bolt ends with equal pressure( or lightly tap them with a soft mallet ) And Bingo. Replace both of them while your in there and make sure to clean and put down a coat or two of wax in and around the handle area. ;)
