  1. Welcome. Great to see you here! Hope some members take you guys up on the first Sunday of the months to come. I won't be able to make any meets for a while until things warm up. But come June, I hope to make a few trips around. If you guys are interested - we should organize a meet in the future to take place around July or August complete with track time. Great car and site! I am going to register. Keep us posted. AJ
  2. Been a while since I started this thread. A lot has happened. Things are still kind of rough but I came across something I could not let go by. It is here and beautiful. A Toyomto special. More details later.
  3. Good luck. Let us know what we can do to help.
  4. Depends on the model. JDM versions are slightly different than American market(GS300/400). I know the V300 is a twin turbo and very cool. Basically, if it is the gte (turbo model) you will want to look for smoke out of the tail pipes indicating burning fluids. It may be as simple as turbo oil seals or worn valve guides. Possibly head gasket. Check electrical functions. The JDM's had a unique digital screen gauge system that acts up too. Other than that, some typical problems are starter contacts wich are very easy to fix. Door sagging - loose hinges indicated by small dent or wear in the door jam area. Of course you will want to look it over well and check for oil on the ground, fuel leaks, coolant leaks - if it is the 4 liter the same issues can apply but different locations on the motor. Good luck - sweet car.
  5. Actually, the 3 liter is an inline 6 cylinder - not the V block many are familiar with. The motor is the 2jz-ge foun in many toyota/lexus vehicles in variations (non-turbo supra). The SC300 is an amazing candidate for turbo and modifications if you are into performance. You may have to buy one stateside and import it. Good luck.
  6. the engine. the 430 is a completely different car and will cost a whole lot more. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/viewt...wtopic.php?t=84 http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/viewt...wtopic.php?t=43
  7. Post your ideas/experience/information and they will be placed here.
  8. So there are guys talking about a vsv (vacuum switch valve) in the heater system. Try topping off the engine coolant reservoir first. If you know something about heating systems there is a tweak for the vsv you might be able to try. Or possibly, a new vsv is needed.
  9. The clearance between the valve stem and the camshaft lobes. This increases due to wear over time and as a result needs periodic adjustment.

It was a while ago. I will be back with a new (to me) lexus so I'd like to arrange some meets for the future. My calender does not allow for me to be available until early summer though. If any members would like to arrange any meets here or jointly with some of the other great sites, please feel free to share and post in the meets section. I plan to have fun in Lexington next summer - Clay City is a must do. Thanks!
  11. Welcome.

  20. 8) np dawg good to see ya over here
  21. hello and welcome
  22. at what speed? approaching 40mph and 3 and 4k rpm? this is typical of that year and automatics. Precision Indiustries is a performance supplier that makes an aftermarket torque converter for lexus applications. I have heard their product is excellent. If I had an automatic and was looking for more acceleration or performance off the line and through shifts - this is what I would buy first. This will alleviate that hesitation you are talking about. If your motor is running fine at idle, there are no checke engine lights or O2 codes then I would not say your sensors are to blame at all. How are your plugs and what grade of fuel do you run? You know you should be running 90+ octane at least. Just my .02
  23. Torque converter. Last tranny fluid change? What kind of fluid? Consider a precision industries swap out. I'll bet that hesitation goes away.
  24. Wow!! Man I want it bad. But I can't come near it until at least April.
  25. Supra wheels bolt right up - the TT wheels offset and size are sweet looking on the car. The GS 17" wheels bolt right up. I would expect the IS wheels bolt up also, but have not seen it. Also, FD rx-7 wheels will bolt right up too. But I would save for some nice 3 piece hre's in size 18" with 9.5 width up front and 10.5 fatty's in the rear and +45 offset for that big brake upgrade. Do what you want, there are lots of options. Welcome to the club.
