  1. Oh yea the job is quoted aproximately 600$ for the 60 and 120 service. It may be more, but prolly not less. You can do it yourself for cheaper. But it still necessary to do. Are you still selling the ride or what?
  2. It is not a difficult job to do. There is a idler pully to loosen and once that is done, the belt drops tension and can be easily removed. Just take a good look at the belt you got. Get right up and personal with it. Take a real good look at the ribs and velleys :? you know the belt. Anyways, if it has lots of little cracks or a big one or shows real signs of wear change it now. Other wise, if it is still bright black and looks decent and all that jazz, prolly no worry. The water pump is commonly changeg with the timing belt. Lexus recommends 60,000 and 120,000 miles. No problem.
  3. Hey wowsers! That would be really great to have a discount from Lexus for members of the Lexus Owners Club don't you think fellas?

  12. Also, a good body shop would be able to prop the door with those adjusters and correct the swing. Offer less to cover the cost if you like the car.

I was looking forward to helping out here - and I will still try. But you guys may want to find someone else for the meeting forums - I will not be able to organize any for a while do to this situation. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

  16. Irashai Welcome to the club! A soarer, huh. Sweet. My first question - is this dawg automatic? PM me for details on a service manual. I will have pdf copies of a 1993 Lexus SC300 service manual in time. Just need to get some things worked out. There was another recent thread about the stock performance specs of the soarer gtt. I went on a search to find some info, but was limited. Could not find a good spec sheet. So I will check some more. With your location in Japan, I would suggest contacting Toyota out there. They may be able to provide you with an original sales brochure. I myself, am looking for some soarer components to add to my vehicle like the soarer emblem steering wheel and the black on gold chrome griffin emblem - but all in due time. The 1jz-gte is a twin turbo, 2.5 liter, twin cam with slight differences from the 2jz series (ge). And many similarities to the 2jz-gte with the main difference being the .5 liter of displacement - if I am reading correctly. So you want to modify this thing. What are you looking for? More horsepower? handling improvement? both? If it is an automatic, I would suggest getting a torque converter first. Of course, with the 1jz being turbo - you can do many things for some more ponies. Put a stronger spring into the wastegate will raise boost pressures in a controlled manner but you will need to be careful about how much boost to run. (of course the stock twins are internally gated so this won't work). You can shim the actuator or something like that - need to get details (I can forward you a link to a site where there are some turbo geeks that know all of the tricks.) Now for money items - you can remove the twins and go with a bigger single. This will yeild large power gains. But you will need to compensate for increased airflow by supplying more fuel. There is only so much fuel the stock system will supply, so this will be an area of concern. Bigger injectors, higher flow fuel pump, bigger intercooler, and a fuel computer to control the fuel rates. Check out items from HKS, Trust, APEXi, and the like. Get some nice wheels, maybe lower it with some quality suspension components, and perhaps a body kit from wald or abflug. This is only scratching the surface - so please post more details about your goals and we can go from there. http://www.lexusclub.co.uk/ Enjoy.
  17. I have no recommendation for a mechanic in your area, but if you can get quality work form a local mechanic, then by all means use that resource. A good, honest wrench is worth it's weight in gold. While there are dealerships that are very honest and do good work, there are also dealerships that are less than ideal. Prices are usually higher with dealerships.
  18. To generate ideas on a US meet: list location of an ideal meeting spot car you drive how far you are willing to drive Please reply with interest or suggestions/input.
  19. Get a torque converter, ecu upgrade, open the intake and put a custom exhaust on it. A shot of nitrous oxide or save up for a future turbo, s/c project. Wald makes a nice body kit as well as AutoCouture, Bomex, ABflug, Phoenix, VIS, Do-luck, etc. Good luck
  20. I know of one man in particular whom is creating his own custom turbo set-up for the 1UZ-FE. Results are not documented yet. I can try to contact him. SRT is working on a turbo kit also if I have heard correctly. There are some supercharger kits around too, possibly SRT also. The best mod to do first in a SC400, in my opinion is to get a torque converter. Precision Industries is just one place to find this item. It will free up some lost power through the driveline. Then a direct shot would be cool, or you can save up for some forced induction. There are some FE headers available but not sure on where. I know there are some made in Australia, they are cheap price and quality units, but the shipping to get them here is high. Of course opening the intake and exhaust will always help things flow better and change the rpm curve but the increased flow potential won't do much without the power adder to actually increase flow (i.e. N2O, turbo, supercharger)
