  1. I don't know about your model but inline fuel filter in my car is pretty easy to find and replace. Mine is a 96.
  2. I've found the O2 wires were shorted. After separate them and cover with electrical tape, it's working like normal so I am not going to replace the sensor at this time.
  3. You should check to see if the radiator fans are working first. Try this: turn the ignition switch ON and check if the radiator fan stops? If it does not stop, then check the fan relay.
  4. This is the best online tutorial for your car that landar put together. Try to see what you have been missing. 98 1uz-fe Timing Belt And Water Pump Replacement How_to
  5. Thank you for your reply. It sounds like that's on my next thing-to-do list.
  6. I would try the steps that nc211 listed above first.
  7. The phone never works in my car (I believe they turn off this kind of phone decades ago). The fan was intermittently at slowest speed although I set it to max. Jim, recently, I read one of your very old posts about removing the telephone and that helped me to remove it completely. Thank you!
  8. Does your mechanic know how to read codes from cars manufactured before OBD scanner came out? If I were you, I will find the way to read OBD codes myself before bringing to a mechnic and relying on their multiple guesses.
  9. A video clip of what is going on may help. A video is worth a thousand words.
  10. Hello friends, I am thinking to replace Sensor 2 Bank 2 (downstream) as the voltage always stays at .1 Voltage. I saw the thread to cut and solder the wires but wonder if anyone has tried to remove the passenger seat to replace the whole cable? Is it easy? Thanks!
  11. I finally replaced it. I had to remove the passenger CAT, without removing the darn thing, I had no way to insert the bottom screw (on the top side). I did not need to drop the crossbar or raise the transmission. The car is quiet now.
  12. I hope you removed it completely. I asked because the telephone in my car causes all the weird with the fan (not running high speed). It happened when I bypassed the manufactured amplifiers when installing aftermarket radios. I had to remove the telephone completely for it to work normal again.
  13. Does your car have the old telephone installed still?
  14. I would never use those sealants. It never works and mostly creates undesirable conditions in the engine.
  15. This is going to be my big task in a few days. I am planning to replace the EGR pipe without removing passenger CAT or dropping transmission.
  16. Check if the battery and alternator are still in good condition.
  17. There is no one solution for this problem. It could be a lot of things. For example, if the brake is dragging, MPG is also bad.

You can try to measure the signal from camshaft wire to see if the ripples are large. In some cars, failing alternator causes ripples on camshaft signal that triggers the code. Hope this helps.
  19. If the code goes away after changing fluid, then it is dirty fluid and you need to change it for a few times when the code comes back.
  20. If you have option to use gasket for transmission pan, by all mean, use it. I personally hate the RTV.
  21. Thanks sha4000! I thought so. Last weekend, I removed the cables to power tilt motor but the Airbag light is still intermittent. It stays for a few minutes, then goes OFF. Do you know any ODB reader model than can read SRS on 96 model? I looked up some models and contacted manufactures, I was told Autel MX808 could read it but I don't want to waste time to buy and return.
  22. I would to the spark test but before that want to check the vacuum lines. The fuel quality maybe a problem too.
