  1. I never understood that situation of the stuck accelerator either. I can see where the driver would have been too panicked to think clearly, but I can't beleive the 911 operator wouldn't have told him to put it in neutral, or better yet, downshift it and slow the car down and let the engine blow. That was such a sad situation. Just awful. It is funny you mentioned this today. I have to pass an exit ramp every morning where my daughter could have easily been killed. She was saved by an exit sign. She was driving a Honda Civic and it hydroplaned. If she had not T-boned that exit sign, she would have flown off the interstate and it is a good 40-50 foot drop. Probably would have been killed or badly injured....instead, she got a small cut on her arm. Paramedics were on the other side of the interstate and saw the whole thing and came over to help her and her passenger. The car was totalled....she and her friend were fine. God is awesome!
  2. Isn't it funny? I always say that the things that seem the worst when they happen are the things you will laugh harder about later in life. David...sorry you are having such issues. I have hardwood floors in 90% of my downstairs. I just PRAY that I get no busted pipes. This cold weather has got to go. When does that furry varmint come out of the ground and look for his shadow?
  3. I was a member of the Davy Jones fan club. I was broken hearted when he died. I can promise you my butt was sitting in front of the TV for every show. Loved it. Didn't care if they were singing or not. I think Boyce and Hart did most of their stuff. I guess I need to Google. I have my Monkees greatest hits CD on my iPod. I sing full blast for every song that comes on. They are right there with Theory of a Deadman and Atom Smash. What great company. If anybody ever looked at my iPod they would die laughing at the variety of music I have on there. I think that song was just done for the Shrek movie.
  4. Agreed I can differentiate fact from fantasy, but a 16 year old brain full of testosterone might have trouble doing it. I know in my youth full of '69 Camaros and '68 Chargers....we did pretty much the same thing. I'm not proud of the fact, but we did.
  5. I think I know what makes all the pictures of the new grills look so hideous. If you will notice, the new IS looks better in person than in a photograph. I think it is because all the pics you see of one is from a low angle (my favorite angle of my car) which makes the bottom part of the grill look even larger than life. Kinda, "does this make my butt look big" concept. The way they are photographing the spindle grills is not doing them justice at all.
  6. Hence, trading a 370Z and a supercharged Z28 for an IS250c. :cries: Growing up sucks.
  7. I tell you....it wasn't easy and it was quite by accident. I told my daughter that that song was in the Casper movie and she said, no...it wasn't so I Googled it. She was right, I was wrong. It was in the Shrek movie, but I decided to watch it anyway. I had to do a double-take when I saw the Lexus. Now....I must find another.
  8. Can you imagine? If I ever win the Lottery, I would have the same thing, but American Muscle cars.
  9. I would look at one when they come out and I'm ready for another car. I usually keep one about 3ish years. Depends on the price. The only other thing out there that has excited me lately is the new Mustang. I can't see going from a Lexus to a Mustang though.
  10. Finally found one! I knew I could do it. Awesome video too. Lexus vs. classic "Vette. Wait till about 1:35 into the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mYBSayCsH0 BOOYA!
  11. Either bigger wheel/tire combo or do a drop. I'm sorry I'm not informed enough to tell you exactly what to do. I go to some other message boards too and most of those kids do coilovers and drop the car. Google it.
  12. Thanks. It helps to make up for the lack of horsepower. At least I can corner like a bat outta Hell. ;) I would not have even considered a regular c. No offense to anybody that owns one, but being that I am an old lady, I felt like the regular ones looked too much like an old lady. My trim, rims and handing makes it sporty enough to make me happy with it. I have driven hot rods all my life. At least this car looks like one. Darkening my badging and adding my shifter knob helped too. I really don't think I will do any more modding to that car. I don't want to hurt my resale value. I'm hoping since Lexus is dropping the convertible that this car will hold it's value well.
  13. You have a beautiful car. Very tastefully done. :)
  14. Southern region....big ole honkin 4X4s with loud exhaust and oversized wheels...at least one huge SEC football team sticker. OK Paul, that is the real report.
  15. I have always thought the 06-13 IS had the best lines of most any car on the road. The Infiniti has smooth rounded lines, this car has lots of vents/angles/recessed headlights...I just don't see that much resemblance. Might as well just say that all 2dr coupes look alike.
  16. What is the deal with all the idiot comments about it looking like an Infiniti G? I see no resemblance at all. I still can't get past that grill. Maybe someday it will grow on me, but it is just a little too excessive for my taste. I still haven't seen anything about what the projected cost is going to be for that bad boy.
  17. The old "I wish I knew then what I know now". Those Hemis and things were a dime a dozen during the '73 oil embargo. The bad thing about the Mopars is that they didn't last very long. I had a 440 6bbl Charger. It always needed something and got 6mpg. If you ever go through Ocala, FL you need to stop at the Don Garlits museum. It is so awesome some of the low mileage cars he has in there. One car that particularly struck my fancy was a '70 Plymouth Superbird. It was painted a bronze metallic. It was the ONLY Superbird that Plymouth painted that color. Can you only imagine what it is worth? It is an awesome place. His mom was standing at the counter where you buy the tickets and introduced herself to us and shook our hands.
  18. Drool! I think the only car I ever test drove that I didn't buy (you are going to laugh) was an '08 Lexus IS350! I just couldn't do 4 doors so I bought my G37 instead. I bought this car without even driving it. It was on the showroom floor. I drove a different IS250c. I knew my ride would be stiffer, but that doesn't bother me at all. I don't buy a car for the ride.
  19. I wish I could test drive cars. Cars have a tendency to follow me home. I don't go onto a lot until I'm ready to buy a car.
  20. OK...post a pic. We all need a good laugh. Maybe we can have a dirtyest ride contest. I could have won that a few weeks ago.
  21. There have been some cold ballgames lately. I heard that at the Green Bay game they were putting their beers on the grill to thaw them out so they could drink them. Not my idea of tailgating!
  22. Bite Me!!! (frost-bite that is) :P
  23. The ride in this morning... I will get further south as soon as hubby can retire. That will be at least another 10 years. Arrrrrrrrrrrg! You can have Lexie when you pry my cold dead fingers off the steering wheel. ^_^
