  1. The water pump on I6 and V8 tend to leak sometimes. The gasket on the pump doesn't seal properly. I just replaced a water pump on a 2002 ls430 with 15k miles. Make sure check the coolant level. JPI

  3. We do not mark the timing belt when we replace them. There is a sticker comes with the t-belt. We write down the date and miles when we replace them. Timing belt on the V8 is a lot harder than the I6. My client finally towed his vehicle to my shop after he screw up the t-belt on his 96 sc400. Good luck. JPI

  5. Your mass air flow sensor is bad. It couldn't measure the amount of air coming in your engine. That is why it is leaning out. Replacing the MAF sensor will fix your problem. Is your car under warr? Also the fuel trim is measure in short and long term. Good luck. JPI
  6. Check the balance on your tires. I'm sure that the weight came off. I never see lexus drive shaft came loose before. Also tell them to check the roadforce variation. good luck. JPI
  7. 25 yrs old Lexus Tech I have my own shop at home. I'm addicted to speed. Here are my weapons of choise: R6 yamaha, 89 honda crx drag car and Lancer Evolution VIII. Hoping expand my shop next year, moving out to a bigger shop. :magic: JPI
  8. Where do they sell the seals for the compressor? I see a lot of compressor seal leaks after a while. My clients would be really happy If I save them some money. JPI
  9. Take it autozone let them retreive the code. Come back with the codes and I will tell you what is wrong with it. JPI
  10. code 21 is the solar sensor. If you are in the area, there is no sun this code will come up.

  12. Have your key in off position. Press CD and AM at the same time now turn on your key. Your ant mast will come out. Measure your new and old ant cable, if the old one is shorter. Which means part of it still stuck in the motor. Now remove your ant motor. Remove the broken cable. I'm assuming you know how to do the rest. Good luck. JPI
  13. It could be the MAF sensor. The vehicle won't throw any codes when this thing goes bad. Have you done any repairs lately? If you interested knowing how to test the MAF sensor let me know. I had this same problem two weeks ago on the IS300. After doing a brake job and 15k, while test drive the vehicle. It dies on me. I tested the circuits and fues. Check for fuel and sparks. Have everything. Finally, I tested out the MAF sensor and It was bad. This car was kicking rear for 2 hrs. :( JPI

  15. Get you a lexus manual. And some tools. It's not that hard but you have to pay attention to the bolts and nuts, so you can put them back where they were. If you have the non VVT-I then it is the non interference motor. Expect to have your car down for a day. Also remember to get the two 0-rings. Let me know if you need any help. When you have the timing apart, it is a good time to replace your cam seals also. I can get the parts a little less. Good luck(dont bend any valves ) JPI
  16. While we are on the engine gel subject. I've done at least 50 of them. All of them were on RX and ES. If you going 15k miles without an oil change, you might want to let the dealer check the car out. Take care of your lexus. JPI

  18. Timing doesn't have to do with the overhearting problem that he is having. Check your fan shroud, check all those nuts that secure the fan(12mm). There might be an air pocket in the system. On the Ls400 you have to fill the coolant on top the engine, otherwise it will overheating. Good luck. JPI

  20. Change the steering column tube and shims will fix this problem. But earlier model doesn't allow you to do this. Only on Ls430. I'm sure certified warr will cover this. JPI
  21. Who is your mechanic? You don't need to pull the dash out to replace the evap and expension valve. You will have to remove the glove box compartment but it's not an easy job. Good luck. JPI
  22. Check for your batt if you have 12v. Also check the water in your batt if it is low top it off with water. Recharge the batt. Sometimes you will have to replace it. The starter located below the intake manifold. You have to drop the transmission bracket to get to it. The starter on the v8 tend to fail often. That is why they had a campaign back then. Test batt first though. No need to spend money on the starter if you don't need want. JPI
  23. Do you service your car quite often? The powertrain warr is 6 yrs and 70k miles. They should spot the leak back while it was under warr. You are at 90K and you haven't replace your Timing belt, it's a good time to this now. They might give you a little discount. And i don't see why they have to charge you $130 for state inspection. If you fail at your first time they will get to do it for free the second time. NO BUT NO IF that is the law. Yes, you don't have to replace your struts now but if they are really bad. It could be dangerous while driving on the freeway. Good luck with everything. I know how it's feel to spend $2144 in one day. Lexus make good cars. I wouldn't drive anything else beside a lexus. Well, I shouldn't say that because I have a Lancer Evolution. :P JPI
