  1. I got these codes to come up on my test of the A/C compressor. My mechanic says that the compressor is staying on the whole time. any help would be appreciated. thanks, lexlugar
  2. wow, I just got back from a trip to South Carolina taking my daughter to visit a college there. Needless to say I am chaffing from the sweat buildup within my two pillows, ----those aren't two pillows. circa 1986 Planes Trains and Automobiles. So, back to the sticky situation I tried the info. on holding the ac power button and the recirculation button and it came up code 23 and code 21. So, should I take a chance and fill it with r12 refrigerant possibly losing this freon. And what does the code 21 mean. Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Lex lugar. by the way the college we visited in South Carolina was a small college by the name of Erskine--nice place. !!!!!
  3. Hey thanks for the possible solutions. I have two kids in college and one still in high school, so I need a creative alternative to save $$$$$$. My mechanic is from an import and classic dealership locally. They are generally reputable in their advice. However , I have wondered why the ecu unit has not given me an error message. They explained this as the compressor is staying on all of the time. , didn't make alot of sense to me. The system uses r12, so I woud have to spend quite a bit just to add freon. I am still open for alternatives if anyone has any available. Thanks, and even though it is hot in my sc I still love it. --------Lex
  4. I have had my sc400 in the shop for an oil change and general checkup. I knew the A/C wasn't blowing cold, but I thought it was just freon. I was going to have it recharged at this time , but the mechanic told me that it was a bad compressor and it would be 1200.00 big ones. My question is this , where can I get a cheaper compressor and is it worth switchng over to the 134 refrigerant instead of the r12. thanks for the help and I hope my but stops sticking to the seats
  5. I had the same prob. check the O-2 sensors. There are 4. Two in the front and two in the back. It is the two in the front that are usually the problem. Have them replace both and the prob should go away. Good luck, Lexlugar -------sc400
  6. Thanks so much for the information. I went ahead and bought the 92 for 9,000.00. I pick up the vehicle today. I am then going to have it serviced at a local import and classic dealer here in Indiana. WHen I test drove the vehicle it drove great. I used to own nissan 300 zx 's have had 3 since the early 90's . Wow, the sc drove better than the zx's and I loved the power from the v-8. I look forward to more communication with the rest of the group. This is a wonderful website. Thanks for putting it together. Lexlugar.
  7. I am in the decision process between a 94 sc400 with 141,000 miles and a 92 sc400 with 129,000 miles. The 94 is in good shape, but it has a problem with the radio. The owner said the drain from the sunroof leaked on the amplifier and it has not worked since. This has me a little scared. It also has a crack around the trim of the windshield--driver side. The 92 has a nakamichi radio and it works fine. I don't want to purchase a new radio for the 94 if I don't have to. If anyone has any thoughts on the best alternative it would be greatly appreciated. Oh, they are both priced about 9,500.00 . Good deal or not? Thanks, Lex Lugar
