  1. My IS350 has never had a single problem and I've never spent more than $29 for an oil change. Of course I supply the filter which costs a whopping $4.50 from Irontoad.
  2. Nobody said they wanted to. It just so happens that Lexus calls the new line "F" accessories. And there still seems to be a problem with your screen name.
  3. Both superchargers and turbochargers are considered "Forced Induction" or FI for short. Both will add additional power to an engine. The life span of the engine depends on how much power is added and how often the driver uses that added power. An engine designed from scratch with either of these power adders can last a very long time. A bad design could have a life span of only a few minutes worst case. The supercharge is driven from the engines crank shaft using the acceory belt. This adds a slight extra load to the engine during normal (grandma) driving but can be compensated for when the engine is at high RPM and under boost. A turbo charger does not put a mechinical load on the engine but technically does add some resistance to the exhaust flow. Again this is compensated for at high RPM and under boost conditions. So, do they "do the exact same thing"? They sure enough do. They compress. One gets power from exhaust gas while the other is turned by a belt off the engine crank pulley. What's not the same thing about compressing?
  4. It downshifts sooner, with less pedal. It also shifts a little snappier.
  5. I seldom use it but I don't think it hurts anything, especially in around town driving. Of course there's not much advantage to using it crusing on the freeway.
  6. It's simple really. Every vehicle I own goes to the drag strip - it's just my rule. Plus, the car is stock now but I will be bolting on an intake and headers (if you have to ask why then you will never know) and would like to see the before and after times in addition to the dyno charts. I like charts and graphs but a Sunday afternoon at the track with a few time slips is way more fun. I guess I'll never know then.
  7. A guy took his IS250 to the track and turned right at 16 seconds. My only question would be, "why take an IS250 to the track"? By the same token, why argue about the HP and torque of a IS250?
  8. It suffices to say this is not the "Pursuit of Perfection" as it was claimed. 204 hp is a lot if a car is really equpped with a 204 hp you'd feel it. Peak? You would not get 204 even if you rev the engine up to 7k rpm. I may sound odd to you but still entitled to say my opinion and I am always against fraud. As long as you understand your opinion is wrong. The car has 204 crank hp. If it didn't, there'd have been lawsuits. See also when Mazda had to buy back peoples RX-8s because they lied about horsepower, other companies have been through the same. The butt dyno is a reliably horrible way to know the actual power of a car. An -actual- dyno tends to work better. Wow... I hesitate to spend much time here getting into the details of these comments because we all have our opinions and some have lots of very good information to share. First, a "butt dyno" can be as reliable as any SuperFlow SF-902. If you have competitvely raced, you would most likely know this. An good engine dyno and a good dyno tech can produce really neat torque data over RPM ranges with specific software algorithms that make some assumptions, but on a race track the driver can tell you things about "actual power" that a $100K dyno cannot! Randy ????? Can you share some of that stuff your smokin? Something's not quite right here. I'm calling tomorrow for an appointment to get my butt dyno recalibrated.
  9. Just moving the 10 mm nut in the slot won't do it. You have to actually move the arms themselves into the proper configuration, then lock down the nut. Maybe some of the info here will help. http://my.is/forums/f87/self-leveling-head...ed-help-272756/ http://my.is/forums/f89/auto-level-sensor-adjustment-159615/
  10. I prefer the non-competitive races myself. :D
  11. We've known about the ticking for a couple years now.
  12. I was admiring a pristine 92 with 110,000 miles the other day. The lady came to get in it and said she planned to keep it as it was such a great car. :(
  13. You say the driver has a big head?
  14. Yeah but these CD's in question show the information when I play them on my PC at home so they must be coded unless there's something I don't understand about that. Well I dunno then. I'm not all that familiar with the system. I have the standard stereo.
  15. I know of one that's pushing 100,000 miles with no problems.
  16. Some CD's are coded and some aren't. I have some that show title and track and some that don't.
  17. It's the camshaft timing gear. The TSB is here. http://faqlexus.com/attachments/52/EG019-0...d%20Startup.pdf
  18. We're pretty much just common folk here.
  19. I have no idea. I guess one would have to know the numbers and figure that out.
  20. Dieself fuel is higher than gasoline in the USA these days.
  21. Yep, I did some checking myself and I do believe the chart could be reasonably accurate. I'd still like to see an independent test performed with my own eyes. But for now I'll accept the published data. For the record, my "seat-of-the-pants" dyno doesnt' agree with that test. Randy Go run your own dyno and post it up here.
  22. You might have to dig through some posts but there are comments in here. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ite=%2Breliable
  23. Look around the forum a little bit. There's all kinds of info here.

  25. Yes I agree - Aggressive or Unaware driving is a bad idea but I have been guilt of both from time to time. Certainly the TL is out of the league for a stock or even slightly modified IS250 based on what is generally available. Major mods might make for a good race however. While, we want to encourage people to post and participate on these forums, IMO we also don’t want to encourage dangerous behavior. Of course we can’t police the action of others. I tend to favor a more friendly reminder that aggressive driving isn’t a good idea instead of the flames but each to their own. Regards, Acting stupid and then posting about it deserves flames. Case closed.
