  1. 0W40 is intended for extreme climate temperature variations. The 0W would be for very cold weather starting and circulation during warm-up. The 40W would be to lose less viscosity during extreme heat conditions of ambient temps and/or severe uses such as pulling a trailer. For normal use in most USA climates I'd stay with the oil recommeded by Lexus.

  4. It's a grand, not ten grand. If someone has that kind of money, a trip to Toyomo is definitely in order.
  5. You can buy just plain black steel wheels that will fit, for fairly cheap. Try some regular parts places instead of "custom" wheel shops. Probably an independent tire store could get them.
  6. Nitrous.
  7. Carson Toyota Parts Just give them a call. http://www.newtoyotaparts.com/ New Genuine OEM Lexus 01-04 IS300 Carpeted Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...sspagename=WDVW
  8. I've seen them on Ebay. Also look up Carson Toyota in Carson Caliifornia. They discount lots of Lexus stuff.
  9. also make sure your ect isn't on and your snow button is off. 11. What do you mean by "shift gears hard"?
  12. If you go to www.tirerack.com and fill in the car data, then you can see what wheels will fiit.
  13. Yes, please reduce the pic size. Those would kill a 56K phone modem setup. Also, pleas wash your car. ;)
  14. That's why you have to get the codes read to find out what it is.
  15. I haven't heard that, although many people expect a big change dor the IS ifor 2006. I'm not sure there's much info available yet.
  16. There are several devices of this type that make great claims. None of them work.
  17. You should be able to buy a 1994 GS300 in excellent condition for $10,000 or less. You can do the homework here: http://www.edmunds.com/used/1994/lexus/gs3...e.num1.1.lexus*
  18. Is the air filter wet? If so, replace it or take it out and let it dry naturally on a piece of newspaper. Take a flashlight and inspect the inside of the intake tube. Chances are the Mass Airflow Sensor got wet causing a misreading and hence the CEL. To reset the computer, once you have all that dried out, disconnect the negative battery terminal for 20 minutes, then reconnect, then start the car. It's really doubtful you got water in the engine unless the air inlet was actually submerged. That would be pretty hard to do considering it's location.
  19. This has happened with many IS300's that have that style intake, with no heat shield. With an open element filter such as the AEM, when the radiator cooling fans come on, there is turbulence that messes up the air flow to/through that intake filter resulting in stalling. The two fixes are to go back to a snorkel type intake like stock, or install a shield between the filter and those fans to keep the turbulent air away.
  20. Could be at a higher rotational speed, the imperfections on the rotors don't show up. I'm not an expert, but the same thing happens with tire balance. There's always a speed that's ok and a speed where you get shake. Since the tires have been checked out and since this happens when you apply the brakes, it's the logical check to do. The clicking on first applying the brakes, especially in reverse, is normal. I has to do with what some call "floating calipers". Also, I believe the ABS system self tests during the first brake applicatioin after startup. This also makes some clicking noises. Don' know about the CD changer, but that almost sounds like a loose wire or speaker connection. If you can, pull the changer head unit out and check the electrical plugs on the back.
  21. Probably some warping of the front brake rotors. You should have your pads and rotors checked.
  22. From what you wrote, looks like you have already made up your mind.
  23. Cool. How many miles? How much $$?
  24. Try to find a certified used car that has all its mainenance records.
  25. Does the AEM have a heat shield for the filter? I've heard that turbulence from the radiator cooling fans can cause stalling with open element filters. The intake with that ehhaust setup might get 15 HP. You'll need Oxygen sensor sims for the exhaust to keep the ECU from throwing CEL's. The intake may also throw CEL's if you don't add an engine management system. I agree with Alex on the muffler. You might consider a different catback. An exhaust that is too open may actually lose power with a NA engine.
