  1. The IS300 has a drag coefficiet of 0.29, which is among the best in cars of this type. Since the car already has smooth panels underneath to minimize turbulence from chassis components, and the body design is already quite aerodynamic, I doubt you could improve CD by any significant amount. Here are the specs and a pic of the Team Lexus car, and it really doesn't look too radical. http://www.clublexus.com/index.php/article...view/2135/1/11/ Drafting on the highway would also seem impractiical because you'd have to run so close to the other car that it would be very dangerous. The best thing for highway mileage is running at a steady crusing speed and not "getting on it" a lot when passing, etc. I try to stay far enough behind trucks to stay out of the turbulence, when conditions are such that I can't just go around them. I've gotten 26MPG 1500 mile round trips from AL to Ohio using cruise control and in light traffic. When the traffic gets heavy, there's not much you can do about it. I usualy cruise at 75 to 80 MPH in my 2002 E shift IS. Keeping all the windows closed and running the A/C is also good. Tire pressure also makes some difference. I run 34 normally and raise to 36 (cold) for long trips. Hope this helps.
  2. Sometimes you can find OEM wheels on Ebay at a good price.. Just go there and search on IS300 wheels.
  3. People usually paint their calipers before putting those stickers on. They are easy to put on, just like putting on a window sticker. You just need to make sure you get them aligned correctly onthe first try. You can''t really move them once they are studk on If anything they shoud help protect from corrosion. There shoud be no warranty problem as they don't affect funtion in any way. I have the "L" logo and "Lexus" stickers on my caipers . I painted them first with G2 caliper paing. The stickers are from Flatline Graphics. Some people put a clear coat over the stickers, but that can cause them to curl up. Mine have been on for over a year now, with no clear coat and they are still in perfect condition. Heres a link to a pic of mine with the "L" logo. http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bartkat/d...f&.dnm=6ec9.jpg
  4. That is correct. Even the difference in tread pattern would be enough to discard that idea. You should never mix tires, especially on the same axle.
  5. I don't think anyone is making a bolt on twin turbo kit for IS. Best thing to do is go to one of the tuners who supplies everything you need for a stage 1, 2, or 3 turbo kit, complete with an engine management system to run with it. One company with a good reputation and some really fast cars is Toymoto. They should be able to fix you up with all the power you want. http://www.toyomoto.com/
  6. From what I know, the pwr thing makes the shifts a little "crisper" so it does come into play when making "manual" shifts. VVTI has to do with engine valve timing. Normal driving it's aimed at fuel mileage, but under acceleration gives better performance.
  7. Lexus most likely will at least give your car, suspension, steering, etc a complete inspection and tell you if there's any real problems there.
  8. There is a TSB on the 2002 IS CD player. AU001-03 FEB 03 Audio System - CD Changer Jamming http://www.alldata.com/TSB/31/02310815.html
  9. Lexus will tell you, and I believe it's in the owner's manual, not to play home made CD's in the player. I've read about cases of CD's getting stuck in the unit and having to take it out and send it back to Lexus to get it fixed. There have also been some warranty problems with the stock CD player, but if your problem is only with your burned CDR's, I'd just quit trying to play them.
  10. If you're going with high boost, the GTE engine is stronger. If you change the trans from auto to 6 speed you might gain 0.5 seconds. You get more HP to the wheels with the 6 speed. Then, of course if you abuse it you'll start tearing up clutches and trans gears.
  11. The legality depends on the state laws where you live. If you leave the stock cats on it will still pass most smog tests. In places like California they won't pass the "visual" check. As for power gains, that again depends on what other mods you have. Just adding he header alone isn't going to be great gains, but along with a good intake and a cat back ehaust, and possibly a tuneable ECU device you might get 15 to 20 WHP gain. Your best bet is to find a local tuner who has experience with Toyomoto and get his recommdations.
  12. Yes, Carson Toyota is your best bet. CARSON TOYOTA 1333 223rd Street Carson, CA 90745 (310) 522-2300 (949) 638-3151 (888) 341-3000 in SoCal (800) 908-6968 all USA http://carsontoyota.com/html/parts.html
  13. Torsion noise could be sway bar bushings need lubed or loos mounting bolts on those. Trans all depends on how the car is driven. Some people have had problems. Maybe it just needs a good flush and fluid change.
  14. There was a Toyota Esperanza race car built by TRD. Maybe in Europe. That's all I could find on Google.
  15. Does that also require LED windshield washer nozzles and tire valve caps?
  16. Here's an article on TRD sway bar installation. http://www.is300.net/modules.php?name=Cont...age&pid=6&cid=7 Here's a review on Hotchkis sway bars with some comparison to others. http://www.is300.net/modules.php?name=Cont...e&pid=32&cid=11
  17. Check out the .net store at www.is300.net Also check their articles on sway bar tests. The decision mainly depends on how you intend to drive your car. Based on what you have said, the TRD yellows are probebly best.
  18. General rule, the bigger the diameter of the bar, the stiffer. Also you have to watch out for the front to rear stiffness difference or you can end up with a tail happy or twitchy car.
  19. Several possibilitied. 1. The oil change guy didn't get the engine completely drained. The engine should have been well warmed up and given time to drain well. 2. Make sure the car is parked on level ground when you check the oil level. If it's parked a little downhill, it will read high. 3. Be sure to wait long enough for oil to drain back to the pan before checking. Try and check the oil before you stert the car in the morning. 4. It definitely takes 5.5 +- a bit to put mine on the full mark when chaning oil and filter. 5. If the filter wasn't changed, then then it only takes about 5 quarts.
  20. Have you changed your shocks or springs? If so, the autolevel sensor arm in the left rear area near the axle is probably catty wompus.
  21. If it's a Lexus ceritfied used car then they will make it right. They should make the necessary body adjustments and whatever it needs. I bought my 02 about a year ago. If you look really close you can tell the front bumper has been replaced or repainted, but I got the car for $24,800 when it was a year old, and everything else is just fine and no other problems, so I'm happy.
  22. Maybe get that shop to go over the entire car and check for stuff. Then make your decision. Most everything else should be under warranty.
  23. Yes. You'll find that to be the case in most all cars.
  24. Personally, I'd get the one that comes with or is recommed by the tuner that makes the kit.
