  1. Knowing that there is a holdback and how much it is, puts the buyer in a better bargaining position.
  2. I think you can retrofit the arm rest from the 02 and up models if you can find on from a salvage yard. That would be nicer and cheaper.
  3. I'd just as soon they'd knock another $1000 or so off the price of a new GS so's I could afford one. :D
  4. The fix for that is to put a 2 by 4 between the door and the door sill close to the hinge area and then push the door like you are closing it. Do this in increments until the door again fits properly. :D :D
  5. But I can do that, then reset - but then, what I am supposed to do with the induction kit ? throw it away ? :cries: I have only just bought it ........... ← Sell it. Almost all intakes cause that problem because it makes the MAF get a false reading. The only intakes I know of that don't do that are SRT because it uses a piggy back ECU to correct the readings, or any of the intakes that just change the tube and not the MAF location.
  6. It's the intake. The MAF gets a false reading and throws of the warnings. Put the stock intake back on, reset and see if it goes away and stays away. My bet is that this will cure the problem.
  7. I guess you could silence the beeper by disconnecting the little beeper unit located on the inside fender well on the driver's side.
  8. You know there are TSB's on those CD changers. Most of the people that took them back, got replacement units. So there were plenty of bad ones.
  9. 2001 must be different than 2002. Mine just flashes the messages in text on the radio dial.
  10. I have no idea what fits, but you could do some research by browsing and/or asking your question here: Wheels and Tires Forum http://www.is300.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=95
  11. Aquapel beats RainX and last for 4 to 6 months.
  12. Open the hood and look in front of the battery. There is a black box with a "caution hot" warning on it. That is the resistor that reduces power to your DRL's. There's a wire with a plug going into that box. Squeeze in the buttons of that plug and pull it out of the box. Now your DRL's are off, but your high beams will still work. Use a wire tie to secure the plug and put electrical tape of the end of that and the socket and you should be good.
  13. My engine bay is never dirty. No leaks. About once a month I just dust and wipe down everything. We don't get a lot of crap on the roads here and I keep the car in the garage. I don't think I've had a dirty engine in over 30 years.
  14. Beetle maniacs now old enough and rich enough to be Lexus candidates. :D
  15. Maybe they use very cheap cameras in case they get busted and their equipment confiscated. Maybe they should call them crappyspyshots. At any rate, this gives me another excuse to wait before trading cars. I haven't been happy with anything in the 2005/2006 line yet, and waiting to see the new IS. Now maybe I can wait for the new Camry. Will there be a new ES to go with it? :D
  16. The new Toyota Avalon LTD has the mirror mounted flashers.
  17. Try the "training" procedure on the Homelink Site http://www.homelink.com/training/train.taf
  18. All it needs is a big double decker aluminum wing. :D
  19. This would mostly depend on who made the kit and what supercharger is on it. Consider fuel management as well. Some of the compressors out there have had some serious problems.
  20. I agree but there is much more design put into it then "just mounting" a funnel to your car. Nothing is that simple in engineering. Also was this topic on ES or Camary not an IS. ← Smoothing out the underside of a car to clean up the air flow is not exactly rocket science. In fact, it's not even an IS that Lexus turns over in their commercial. I did mention other models, didn't I? This statement doesn't imply anything but Lexus, to the reader. But hey, I'm not one to quibble about petty things like that. If I was, I would mention that I've never seen a Camary.
  21. I guess thats why Lexus decided to put underbody panels on the IS300 and most of their other cars lately and why they even feature that on their commercials. It's also funny that most car makers have worked really hard to reduce the cd of their cars with the advent of CAFE standards. :D
  22. I've used nothing but Castrol in bikes and cars since the 1970's and nary a problem. I've used the Castrol synthetic blend in the last two cars and change at the regular book intervals. Castrol products are as good as it gets.
  23. Toyomoto does one. http://www.toyomoto.com/sc300.htm
  24. I don't need to look online. I know what we had to do in changing pump seals to a different material, and how much it cost Suit yourself, but my experience tells me that I would not recommend it. You got your opinion and I've got mine. The guy down the road working on his car under a shade tree also has his.
