  2. You have no idea how much I dislike my shift knob. I live in Hemet, and it can get pretty "warm" there as well. Going to throw the car in Drive and having your hand scortched off sucks! lol! ← I think the round chrome ball is kinda cheezy looking too. The leather ones are nice. Or maybe an eight ball? :D :D

Quite a few turbo owners on http://my.is/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=114 If you browse there in the gofast section or search, there are lots and lots of posts on turbo and some on NA and swaps. there's also a guy who posts there, who is in the Air Force in Japan who claims to have one of the Altezzas you speak of. Not too many here that I know of. Several guys in the northeast are running SRT. http://www.swiftracing.com/ Some are running Toyomoto. http://www.toyomoto.com/ Those seem to be the most popular in the east USA.
  4. I know of some people with turbos but not that one. Dunno what is a 3ge though. Know some who have GTE.
  5. The net store has a OEM leather knob for autos or a "JDM" leather knob for manual here. http://www.is300.net/store/customer/home.php?cat=12 I've had the OEM leather one on for about a year and like it a lot.
  6. I won't buy a used car where I live because everybody and his brother is in the salvage car fixing biz. We even got salvage use car lots full of repairable wrecks. No matter how much you inspect one, it ain't necessarily gonna hold up. There's even salvage cars aroung with laundered titles with no salvage history showing. I figure you get what you pay for or worse.   8. Good, I won't respond then. Besides, if you're buying a salvage car, the common problems should be the last of your concerns.
  9. You definitely need to lower the car!! The gap between the tires and wheelwell looks like you are going 4-wheeling. It would look 100 times better if you lowered it. ← Gap, schmap. It's a Lexus, not a Civic. :D
  10. If it was finished off with some landau bars and spinners it would be really pimp.
  11. You can raise the rear of the car by placing a hydraulic floor jack under the differential and then place your jack stands under the notched out sections of the unibody frame, to the front of the rear wheels. Then let your hydraulic jack down so the car rests on the jack stands. Be sure to chock the front wheels first. The front jacking point is the frame cross member to the rear of the oil pan. Jack stand locations are just to the rear of the front wheels, again notched out sections on the unibody ridge.
  12. I've had it two years now. The only problem was a loose bracket that holds the front sway bar in place. I tightened that and lubed the bushings myself, and never another problem. It's got about 36,000 miles on it now.
  13. I do not for the life of me understand why profit to the dealer is such an issue. If you have a problem with the price then buy a hyundai. If profit really is an issue look to your insurance agent for a disclosure on their profit margin. Heck you pay all kinds of money to insure expensive cars hopeing never to have to use their services. Think about your agent and his 65 foot boat in the keys drinking margaritas on you...twice a year! be thankfull you are fortunate enough to be driving or even have the means to drive the best car on the market today. And remember your sales rep does need to feel he is important to you, that you value his services, afterall hopefully you will a great relationship for the nexy 4-5 years. If you treat them with respect they are obligated to show you the same. lets not for get about the good in man. ← Do you just walk in and pay sticker price for a car when you buy one? That would be the opposite end of the spectrum. Car trading is like horse trading, both parties try to get the best of the deal. It's not only about money.

  15. The only drawback is having to put the housings in an oven so you can get them apart, and then making sure you get them sealed up again so you don't get condensation. I think there are some guys on the west coast that do a nice job with the headlights. Don't know of anyone in your area though.
  16. If you leased the car from Lexus, they should give you an owners manual.
  17. Smoked tail lights are stock on '02 and later models. Most of the truly black ones I know about were DIY jobs.
  18. I just got my stickers this week. I think I signed up in April. You have to have your mailing address in your profile so Matthew can pick it up and send the stuff. Nobody can see the address but the admins.
  19. How about a rear seat passenger leaned so hard on the arm rest that it pushed the door down and moved the latch plate?
  20. I think I'd rather keep the 4.0 V8 than swap to a 3.0 straight 6.
  21. Some dealerships are good and some aren't. Lexus has their fair share of both. Plenty of great stories, and plenty of bad ones. Design and quality and the right products for the target buyers sells cars. Dealerships are just a necessary evil.
  22. Damn. Now this thread has got me looking at old Lexi. I was just down at the car wash and some chick drove up in a gray LS400 and parked off to the side. I drove by her on the way out, but as I had thought, she had met up with some dude in a red pickup truck. :cries:
