  1. Sometimes when your rear brake pads are low or your rotors are too thin, it'll set off the sensor. I had my traction light coming on and then I replaced the rear pads and rotors (which are super cheap by the way) and the light went off never to return.
  2. Does anyone know the years of supra tt's that you can use to swap in a LSD directly? Has anyone done this and how much work is it? Do you need any other parts or just the lsd unit?
  3. Hey, JPI: Do you know if the Supra TT LSD bolts right into a SC300 5sp? Did you have to change anything else or get any other parts? I want to make my 93 sc300 5 speed a LSD and want to buy the right unit the first time so I don't have to mess around with parts that don't fit. Cheers!
  4. I think the transmission is the same but the shifter is different. It's longer and has a "laid back" type of bend to it to make up for the different shifter point in the car. If you're gonna swithc to a r154, you would need the driveshaft though from a soarer or have one made up.
  5. I disagree. I have a 1jzgte in my sc300 which came with a 5sp manual trans from the factory. The swap came from a soarer auto and I retained the a/t wiring harness and ecu. I bet you could do the same for a 2jzgte.
  6. You can use your current transmission (code w58). The only problem is that you probably won't leave the 2jzgte stock for long. Once you go over 350hp, you're really going to be pushing to limits with the w58. You can pick up a r154 trans out of a mark 3 supra turbo or soarer 1jzgte pretty cheap and that'll hold a worked 2jzgte up to about 550hp. You'll need to get the soarer shifter though to make it work as the supra shifter is not the right shape. I'm not sure if the driveshaft needs to be lengthened or shortened either. Or, if you've got the cash, buy a 6sp v161 or v162 supra trans. You'll have to bang out room for it in the driveshaft tunnell but it would be sooooooo pimp to have a 6sp in a sc.
  7. I bought a crashed 1993 Lexus sc300 5 sp manual as a parts car to convert my sc400 into a manual transmission car. Then, my sc400 got hit and totaled. So, I am now selling the parts car. It comes complete with ALL the part you need to convert your car to a 5 sp. A few interior parts have been removed. The car is black with tan leather interior. It has 200,000 on it and is all original. The car was hit in the passenger side fender. The hit broke the control arm so the car is not driveable. Call Chuck at 914-552-5408 or email at charleswild77@hotmail.com The car is on ebay right now but I'll end the auction early for a good offer. Ebay item #7994290375
  8. I'm trying to buy a sc300 5sp and I found one that says its a 5sp. Can I verify this by the VIN? I've searched on this forum for VIN decoders but haven't found anything that deciphers transmission codes. The VIN in question is JT8JZ31C4S0020502 Cheers!
  9. I saw an auction on ebay for an Aristo motor 2jzgte with a 5sp manual trans. Did this car ever come with a manual trans in Japan as the Aristo v300? If so, was it a 5sp or the legendary supra 6sp trans?
  10. I know what I'm in for with this one. i've already bought a donor car for all the odds and ends, a 92 sc300 5sp. I've pulled most of the stuff I need out of it. Next, I'm gonna buy a jdm 1jzgte or 2jzgte complete with trans and wiring harness/ecu. Again, does anyone know anyone that has done this swap?
  11. I'm about to begin the project of a lifetime. I'm swapping either a 2jzgte or a 1jzgte into my sc400. I'm also converting it to a manual transmission. I'm looking for some other people that have done the swap so I can ask a few questions and get some advice. Does anyone know of any members on this forum that have done the swap? Cheers!
  12. Hey, has anyone else installed the Daizen polyeurethane control arm bushings? I had a local shop install the upper and lower, front and rear. At the same time I did Eibach ProKit Springs and KYB shocks. When I got the car back, the rear suspension was clunking. Has anyone else had this problem? I took out the strut/spring units and checked them out. They were fine. I don't know what else to look for. Any hints/ideas? Thanks!
  13. I have a set of sc430 rims on my 92 sc400 and I love them. I saw some other center caps on a set of sc430 rims on ebay. Here's the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=2430307000 or you can search on ebay for sc430 wheels and you'll see them. Anyway, I had never seen another type of center cap for these wheels and would like to know where I could get a set. Anyone have any input? Thanks much...
  14. I don't think that car needs a body kit. The subtle styling cues they put on the 97 and up SC's were very nice and functional. Just upgrading to that would be nice enough in my mind.
  15. I just replaced my compressor. I got one online for $150. There are also a few on ebay that were remanufactured. They were about 250-350. It was real easy to do. Then I got a refrigerant recharge kit from the local auto parts store for $40 and charged it up along with the lubricant. Works like a charm now. You might want to take it to a a/c guy first to see if the system is leaking. They can do a compression/leakdown test to see. I tried to do the home test with the red dye but since there are so many hoses and components to the system, I wasn't sure if there was a leak or not. I just took a shot at filling it with $15 worth of refrigerant and it worked great.
