  1. use gun scrubber ← Yeah, I switched. Someone had said carb cleaner was good, and cheap. After that experience, I went back to Gun Scrubber.
  2. Max tire pressure is just that. It's the pressure at which the tire meets its stated load rating. Recommended pressure is the pressure for overall best overall performance, ride, tire life, etc, etc. The poster asked about low profile tires, as opposed to whatever the stock tires were. 40 series = low profile. 37 PSI is an example of a good pressure to run in such a tire. As state before that's "for example". The car owner can fine tune his tires from there based upon his own experience and preferences. Another general rule is that if you go plus one tire size, add 2 PSI above the car recommended PSI. If you go plus two size, then add 4 PSI. What is so hard to understand about that?
  3. Yeah, sometimes I just sit in the car and push the button to watch the guages perform. :D
  4. Look on your tire for maxx tire presure and drop it about 5lbs. read other threads also have this info!! ← I hope you're kidding about that. ← Could you explain why? ← A good all around tire pressure, to start with, would be 35 PSI. If a tire has a max PSI of 55, I certainly wouldn't run it at -5 or 50 PSI. For example, the rear tires on my IS350 are 255/40/R18 and they run at 37 PSI. I think that's a pretty low profile.

  6. Of the 5 cars I've owned in the last 10 years, all met or exceeded the EPA estimated mileage.
  7. Here's the PDF that describes the Lexus Personalized Setting that the dealer can change on your GS. http://www.lexus.com/assets/models/warrant...lectionForm.pdf The dealer has a list that you can check off what you want changed and they will do it for you free, one time.
  8. I just had my 30 days inspection on the IS350 and had the dealer set mine so the doors do not unlock when the tans is put into park. I see this as a safety/anti-carjacking item. However with the IS350. the front doors can be opened just by pulling the inside handles, and not having to push the general unlock button.
  9. It's a regional thing. I'm paying about $500 per six months on a new IS350. The original poster says he was quoted $600 per month
  10. I have a gs3 and my insurance is through the roof. I'm 23 and anxiously await a drop in my rates...good luck! ← It will drop when you turn 25. Getting married also helps.
  11. CUZ THATS WHAT YOU WERE DRIVING..... ← Not sure what that means, but during that time we had a mix of FWD, RWD including pickup trucks, and 4WD. The only two cars that ever got out of control on me were an Escort and a Fiesta.
  12. I think the IS350 will get the rated 28MPG highway at 70-75 MPH cruise control, in good weather. :D
  13. You can get discounts on the GS now. For the IS it's possible but not very frequent. Not sure if they are discounting during the "December to Remember" sale or not. I paid sticker for my IS350 but that was pre-introduction and they gave me more for my trade-in so it all came out the same. You might get $1000 off on a 350 if it's the right car and the time is right. I think they'd be more apt to discount a loaded car than the base model. The only option I got was the 18" wheels, which was all that was available here then. I paid about $20,000 difference and traded my 02 IS300, so not too bad. I see people on other message boards buying cars with stickers at $45,000 and up. There's more profit in the options, and some are getting a little discount in some areas of the country. First month of sales, the total sold was above the annual target figure so the IS350 is selling well. At introduction the salesman told me that he could get $1000 off on a GS3, so probably you could get more than that off by now.
  14. When my car had about 1000 miles on it, I got over 27 MPG for two tanks on the interstate. Local driving I got 22.7 on the most recent tank. That's about half city and half mountain road driving. The answers to your questions and more should be found in the owners manual, on this thread: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=25999
  15. As they are both 06 models and the IS350 just came out in October, I don't think there's much if any reliabilty info available. If you need to choose between those two cars, the GS300 is bigger, rides softer, is slower, and costs more than the IS. If you want smaller, sportier, and faster, choose the IS.
  16. The recommended pressure should be on a plate or sticker inside one of the doors or inside the glove box. That 55PSI Max, is just what it says. It's the maximum pressure you can safely put in the tire, but should only be used for carrying the maximum load for an extended time, at highway speeds. It's the pressure at which the max load printed on the tire is determined. For most cars and most tires today, 34 PSI is a good general rule. ← I agree but, as I have stated in the past, how does the sticker know what size tires you are running? The sticker is for stock tire sizes. What if you put vet tires on or bling bling ones with low profiles????? ← That would be a horse of a different color. That's why I said "most cars and most tires." I'm sure one could consult with the tire company and/or find a chart of tire size vs car weight, and come up with a good place to start and then fine tune based on ride, handling, and possibly wear. Info in this article should be of some help. http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/tech/0208scc_tires/

  18. It's not standard. It only comes with certain packages..
  19. I'd go with the "bird in the hand" theory in this case. If I wanted 32K and the guy showed me 30K I'd snap it up in a minute, rather than piddling around trying to get the 32.
  20. People scalped tickets to see the baby panda? That's unthinkable. They should be prosecuted.
  21. When I was a R&D the technicians were pretty rough on torque wrenches. We used Craftsman so when I accumulated 3 or 4 broken wrenches I'd just go up to Sears and they'd give me new ones. After a while, Sears got wise and started just giving us a few repair kits instead. It still worked out ok.
  22. When I used carb cleaner on my UZI, it left an oily residue.
  23. bartkat, You Rock ← All done. I think. :D
