  1. My IS350 lifetime computer average is 23.6 MPG at 3000 miles. Best mileage has been 27.3 on a couple of 500 mile interstate trips.
  2. I wanted to look at Breakwater but could not find a car in that color. Not a GS or whatever other Lexus comes that color. I think it would be great based on pics I've seen.
  3. Wet traction depends mostly on the tires. Some are great and some are lousy. The last set I had were Fuzions and they did fine. Of course the driver has to back off a little when roads are slick. The Z rating is the sustained speed rating that the tires are rated for. The tire rating should match the capabilities of the car.
  4. That's the point. Insurance cost compared to other cars. The one guy implied that IS300 insurance was way higher than other cars. I don't think that's true. As for prices they really are holding up pretty well. When you figure a car that sold new for around $30,000 will bring half of that 5 model years later, that's pretty good. Might not be good for the buyer, but it's holding value better than most other cars. It will continue to hold up too.
  5. I bought the car in 03 for $24,000 and traded it in on a IS350 in October and got $17,500 trade in. I had 36000 miles. Prices drop pretty fast with higher mileage. I was paying about $430 per six months for insurance.
  6. My insurance wasn't anything unusual. Don't know how it is in California.
  7. Here it is. Links to documents. http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/p...lls/results.cfm http://www.ammarsgallery.com/isdocs...05V565-6299.PDF
  8. I agree with the Matador Red on black. It really shows off in sunlight. Yet it isn't a cop magnet like some of the Fire Engine Reds you see around.
  9. I saw a TSB somewhere on accelerator pedal sticking on IS250. They are supposed to have the parts to fix this.
  10. Plenty of teenagers drive IS300's. In stock form the car is very forgiving and handles pretty well and isn't edgy. It's fast enough, but not super fast, so driven properly it should do just fine. It's got plenty of safety features such as brake assist, traction control, and skid control. In normal driving those features will never even come into play. The speedo/tach dial is now classic, as are the tail lights and the entire body style. Get one in really good shape and you can hardly go wrong. PS: I bought my 02 when it was a year old, drove it for another two and a half years and never had a minute's trouble with it.
  11. A company used to sell "ramp tested tires". They rolled tires down a ramp and sold the best ones at a premium price.
  12. Reading the other thread made me think it was sort of a "put on".
  13. An old time Goodyear guy once told me to run the tires more or less gently for 50 miles and then balance them.
  14. Not necessarily. When they first started making sports cars, all they had was sticks and the only place they knew to put the shifter was on the floor. Many also had wooden frames and little rinkydink flathead 4 cyl engines. And they only had two seats and the spare tire was on the back, etc, etc. So if you want to be s purist ... ... ... ... :D
  15. Sometimes I go out around midnight and cruise in my IS350. Sometimes I get kids in riced out civics who rev at me. I just laugh.
  16. Do you really think BMW, who gives free service for four years to new cars, would use synthetics in all their M cars if they didn't see a benefit? I wonder where you are getting your information. Sounds more like an opinion than a fact. I believe the issue was improved gas mileage. Does BMW claim that?
  17. This foaming cleaner will take all the mildew and mold off your evap system. I used it on my IS300 and it stayed odor free for 2 years after. http://www.ackits.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=dwd2
  18. ahh get a .22 single shot rifle or pistol go to wal mart and buy 19gr CB caps or super calibri's they make zero noise i shoot them in my front yard on main street Where's your front yard? I wanna come and do some hunting.
  19. Here's a pretty good thread on IPOD use. Includes a plug that will let you close your console lid. http://www.is350forums.com/index.php?showtopic=239 What is this disclaimer you speak of?
  20. After further review, I like the lip spoiler better than the raised type spoiler with the brake light in it not that it is an option on the new IS. I don't beleive for a minute that all new IS will be shipped with a lip spoiler. Farce, Falicy, Joke. Although I kind of like it myself. I plan on putting a lip spoiler on my G3 in the near future [ Spring ]. B) Happy New Year ! ! ! I don't believe it either. It's not even offered as a factory option, but a dealer installed one. My problem with lip spoilers is they just collect puddles of water, and then you get water spots. Besides, the IS350 already has a little turn up at the back anyway.
  21. Not much better but shows a little more. http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=1993
  22. If it doesn't have the tail lights, it won't be an Imperial.
  23. I passed hundreds of very expensive trucks and cars today on my way home from Knoxville.
  24. The break in procedure is in this PDF. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...pe=post&id=3754
