  1. As long as the sensors don't get damaged, they should work just fine when you put the wheels back on.
  2. What's worse for me is those damn yellow airbag warning stickers on both sides of the visors. They look like hell on a nice interior. :(
  3. I've had my 350 since the introduction. It's a great car in every way and it's gotta be the most impressive, smoothest, in its class. If you want to play on the edge, there is a way to disable the VDIM. However, you've really got to be in bad shape, driving wise, before VDIM even kicks in. Even if someone considered the IS350 and 330i to be equal in all the driving aspects, the Lexus quality and reliability ought to settle that issue.
  4. Let us know when you get yours. :D
  5. Since the previous owner had everything done at Lexus, go to a Lexus dealer and have them pull up the service history. No need doing stuff if its already been done.
  6. I haven't heard of anyone else being told that the rear spoiler is mandatory. If they keep saying that tell them you want to order a car and delete that option. From what I know, that spoiler requires hole drilling and I sure wouldn't want that if I didn't like the item. It doesn't come up on lexus.com if you do a "build your own". Have heard nothing of stability problems either, quite the contrary.
  7. Get up several times during the night and start it to make sure. :chairshot:
  8. SEARCH, This has just been covered for the 1000,000,000 time. Start here: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...?act=Search&f=7 thanks must have taken you all morning to type all of those zeros real smart next time just use your typing finger to entetain yourself He gave you the link. Now cut the bull*BLEEP*.
  9. They did support. Towed the car, gave a loaner car, and will work on the problem. What more support did they promise?
  10. No, you can do the oil changes yourself or have it done at Jiffy or somewhere like that. Just keep the receipts. I think the only service you need to take to the dealer would be the 30,000, 60,000 miles etc. Part of those such as coolant change, etc you can still do for yourself. It's just to make sure everything gets done and there is a record of it.
  11. Go to http://www.edmunds.com/ and plug in your zip code and options and get the price on the car. You can also go to http://lexus.com and "build your own" and see what packages are available in your area and the MSRP.
  12. As a cat lover, I'm afraid this just can't be tolerated.
  13. I think the Ford 4.6 is the modular OHC engine that was designed from scratch and introduced in the early 1990's. The 302 was based on the 289.
  14. Keep your scheduled maintenance up to date, keep it waxed, and it will run long time. I never had a minute's trouble out of my 02.
  15. The IS250 engine is 4GR-FSE I hadn't heard anything about the rattle.
  16. If you don't want to go all out, a good set of adjustable shocks and some springs with a one inch drop should give you all you need.
  17. There's some actual lease info in this thread. http://my.is/forums/showthread.php?t=271440
  18. Well, miles till the light comes on, isn't a very good number to use. Maybe run a full tank and record the miles, then do a MPG calculation. If you figure that you have used 15 gallons when the light comes on, and have traveled 240 miles, then that would be about 16 MPG, assuming that the 15 gallon figure is correct. That's really on the low side. What are your driving habits, conditions, etc?
  19. Yeah. The gear you select will be the highest gear it will shift to. Say you select 3 and then come to a stop. The car will always downshift according to speed, but it will not upshift past the selected gear number. The car will take off in 1, shift to 2, shift to 3 and not shift any higher till you either use the paddle shift upshift or the shift lever upshift. IOW it will hold a selected "highest gear' and not upshift further. However, it will downshift as needed automatically.
  20. First you ought to get the battery tested. If it doesn't have a dead cell, then charge it up and see if it holds. If not, then buy a new one. It's really a pretty simple process. Battery warrantys are pro-rated. If the car is 3 years old, you're probably better off paying for a new battery at a discount parts store than what you'll have to pay on the pro-rated one if you get it at Lexus.
  21. If you want to experience the redline cut off, try gear 2 and run it up. Won't be going so fast. :D I like the feature. I use it a lot just gearing down for redlights and stuff and on a twisty road, it's real handy. You can also change gears by pushing the gear shift lever forward and back in "S" mode.
  22. Thanks DC. Nice Idea you had.
  23. Here are the files that comprise the 2002 IS300 Owner's manual. These should also work pretty well for years 2002-2005. 24. I know it doesn't shift above the set top gear because I use 4 quite often when tooling around town and I have left it in 4 and gone for several miles down the highway at 70 - 80 MPH and the car never shifts to a higher gear. If you are in "S" mode and put the trans in 4 it will not shift above 4. You can see that by putting the display on "gear postition" and it will show the actual gear number that the car is in at a given time. Of course since at WOT you're still in 3 at above 100 MPH, you may hit over 120 MPH in 4 before you ever get to redline. Gear 4 is direct, while both 5 and 6 are overdrive gears.
