  1. If you don't mind downloading lots of PDF files, you can go to Techinfo Lexus and gain access to the shop manuals. It costs $10 for 24 hrs access. That's what I did for the IS350. http://techinfo.lexus.com/
  2. The noise is just the floating calipers. Not to worry. The Z rated tires make more noise due to more agressive tread pattern. They also make more noise as they wear down. I got 25,000 miles out my OE tires. Not bad for low profile performance tires. Also it's a good idea to grease the front sway bar bushings once in a while, maybe every 30,000 miles. There is not one thing inherently wrong with the IS300. It's a great car. I drove my 2002 38,000 miles and only changed oil and filter pluse 30 K service. Never had a complaint or a minute's trouble out of it. The only reason I traded was to get the new IS350 and the 306 HP V6.
  3. Perhaps clean and check the connectors to make sure you have good contact. I had my head unit out once and there were lots of little connectors on those plugs. Never had a problem though.
  4. Most owners I know have reported some brake dust, but not really all that serious. We think it's the high performance pads. I've known the German cars to do that too. So far I have no squeeks or rattles. You might want to make sure you have nothing in your glove box etc and then get someone to ride with you to try and locate the rattles. They can be very deceptive. I had a noise in my IS300 and thought for sure it was in the console. Finally I found a loose screw in the overhead light by the sunroof controls. Noises get transmitted around and are very hard to locate. Some have also complained about the rearview mirror vibrating, especially when they are playing loud music with lots of bass.
  5. Here's a link to how to do the side markers. http://my.is/forums/showthread.php?t=106661

  7. Dessicants wouldn't be any good now anyhow as they would be all saturated. Either that or the dogs peed back there. :D
  8. JIBBBY You need to take that revolver out and shoot it from time to time to make sure it works, and to gain the skills you will need should you need to use it. Also you should not leave the gun on the night stand or in a drawer where someone could pick it up, sometime when you least expect it. Put in in a quick access lockbox.
  9. http://www.autoweek.com/ Poll at lower right portion of the page. Vote early and often. :D
  10. http://www.lexus.com/lexusConfigApp/pub/se...3!471437099 I'm sure there are a few more items that can be added to hit the $47K mark.
  11. Where's the extra money? The Charger SRT starts at $38,095 base price.
  12. Personally I'd stick with the Castrol Synthetic blend and go to 3000 mile oil and filter change intervals. I've had great service with Castrol over the last 30 or so years and ran the synthetic blend in my last two cars.
  13. That sounds good. The key to removing the film is heat. When I did my Pathfinder I parked it in the sun for about an hour and then used spray on bug remover. The film bubbled up after awhile and I was able to pull it off almost in one piece. Then some serious cleaning with goof off or something to get the remaining glue. It takes time and patience, but you can get if all off cleanly using heat and a mild solvent.
  14. The only recognized clutch problem that I know of was a noise from the clutch throwout bearing. There's a TSB for that. We do know that the clutch is the weak link in the manual IS300 models. People found that out when they went to turbo applications. About all you can do is take it to Lexus and find out if it's something they will fix on the drive train warranty. I believe that's 70,000 miles.
  15. The guy that scanned it works for Lexus. I can only presume that's where he got it.

  17. This thread originally linked to a pre-launch forum where one could ask questions about the then upcoming new IS Models. That site no longer exists. You might do better to start a thread to ask your question and it would get more attention. However, not many here own the new IS and it's new enough that we don't know much about modifying the NAV. Possibly your dealer can change that "yes" thing on your nav. Otherwise may have to wait until one discovers ways to get around some of those functions. Other places you might look for info are: http://www.clublexus.com http://my.is/
  18. Keep the key in your pocket. There is no need to have it where the kid could get it anyway. I believe you can also lock out the passenger window switches to the kid couldn't open a window. A little kid should be strapped into the back seat as well. However, if the key is thrown out or whatever, the car will continue to run. You just won't be able to restart it once you shut it off. Heffergm is also correct about the dead battery scenario. The mechanical key hole for the door is under the trim at the rear of the door handle, you have to pry the little trim piece off with the key and then insert. The mechanical key also works to lock the glove box and lock/unlock the trunk if needed.
  19. Very good. Fits right in with the title/topic of the thread.
  20. Cut the head off and then there won't be any tension on the remaing bolt. If you have to, use an easy out to get the bolt started to turn out. The act of taking out the bolt should chase any threads near the surface.
  21. Turn off your email notification. That should help.
  22. If you want to talk about domestic social issues, you are free to start a thread on that. This one appears to be about Osama, the ME, and terrorists.
  23. My point is that there is absolutely no need for you to be an !Removed! about it. ok buddy - just a few laughs to oil the conversation; and I wasn't being an !Removed!, I was being jovially honest. Jovially? I don't see any smiley faces. Besides, all you gun grabber goons sound alike to me. :D
