  1. I think the articulated HIDs would be worth the wait.
  2. Why would you want to lock your car in your own driveway when it is in view ? ( I don't think a neighbor would want to take it for a joy ride ) If you go swimming/skiing etc... Just have the attendant/ hold the keys for you. Engine starters I beleive the car stays locked. You might want to consult an remote car starter tech and ask him/her about how the car remains locked when remotely started. Just a thought. ;) Let us know what you find out. Thanx Someone could still jump into your car and drive off before you could do anything about it. A kid could even get in the car and get it into the street causing an accident and you'd be liable. Lots of reasons to want to lock a running car.
  3. The way I figure it, if you're tooling along in drive in 6th gear and you decide you need to go to "sport" you're going to want to downshift. Since 5th and 6th are both overdrive, the first downshift would be to 4th. So you slap the shifter over to "sport" and she shifts down to 4th where you have some power or some engine braking, whichever you desire. I mostly drive in sport mode so when I take off I just hit the right paddle twice so I'm in "6" for normal driving, but ready to downshift whenever required by simply using the paddles. Remember you have two readouts for gear selection. The big number is the highest gear that will be shifted automatically. The number in the little gear window 1-6 is the gear the transmission is actually using at any given time.
  4. I just browsed through the my.is 250 owners forum and did not find any 250's with sport package.

  6. where would I find a kit like this This is the type of thing I had in mind. Looks like it would work. http://www.levineautoparts.com/semvinandpla.html
  7. I don't know how it would turn out, but there are dash paints that some people paint their interiors with. Maybe that would work better than dye.
  8. Other people with NAV have mentioned this gap. It shouldn't be "normal", but I don't know if anyone has had it fixed.
  9. We wear big hats, ride horses, and carry six shooters too. :D
  10. Ok so one more question :P when VDIM is off does traction control go off with it? Yes it does. You can cut the wheel, hit the gas and spin donuts to your heart's content. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not that I would do that or anything :P I tried it in an empty parking lot, just once so I knew I could.

  12. Yes VDIM comes back on each time you start the car. You can tell it's off when the car with squiggly tire track lines icon comes on on the dash. Of course you get wheelspin with VDIM off. You'll probably get a better launch that way, but everyone has their own preferences.
  13. We just close the roads if it snows much.
  14. Nitrogen won't support moisture. It's moisture and some of tha amonia chemicals in rubber that can degrade the cord fibers. Also the Firestone 500 major recall was due to moisture wicking to the steel belts, leading to corrosion, which led to a breakdown of adhesion and catastrophic failures.
  15. I've been using Aquapel for over 3 years. It's the greatest thing since sliced bologna. I get it from this guy on Ebay for around $5 per application. I gave Aquapel last year at Christmas. My northen relatives say it also helps prevent ice and snow from sticking to the windshield. http://cgi.ebay.com/4-APPLICATIONS-of-AQUA...1QQcmdZViewItem It stays on the glass for 4 to 6 months. Since it keeps working all that time and stays clear it's never a problem. In a hard rain I can see to drive even better than the big trucks.
  16. That's pretty much SOP. Doing a little burnout also cleans the tires. However all of those things are going to cause extra wear and tear on all the parts involved. It comes down to how many times you're going to do it. If you haven't raced before, you ought to practice those launches in an open parking lot. Racing the car a few times probably won't cause undue wear. Doing it every weekend will sooner or later make junk out of it. What is SOP? Standard Operating Procedure.
  17. The active jammers are not legal via FCC rules. Passive jammers don't have enough range to be effective. All the tests I've seen indicate that you are better off with a good detector.
  18. Make sure it's safe for tint. Do not use anything with amonia. The milder the better.
  19. Most people that live in snow country either have a dedicated set of snowtires and wheels or they drive their 4WD SUV or whatever when the roads are bad. We're so rich we can have a vehicle for every purpose. We got boats for floods, 4 wheelers for the woods, race cars for the track. You name it, we got it.
  20. No point at all as far as I can tell. I don't plan to rotate and I don't think the shop should either. Since the tires are directional you'd have to dismount them to even switch sides.
  21. It's a staggered setup with bigger tires in the back. But since the cars have been out since last October, the techs ought to know that by now.
