  1. You can lower the seat height with the power seats
  2. Mine usually starts on the first or second turn over. Sometimes I have to hold the key for 1-2 seconds, usually when its cold (like winter cold, not engine cold). Actually that reminds me, the other day I parked, and then about 20 min later I started again, and it almost didn't start. The engine was warm, and it turned over about 5-10 times before I gave it a touch of gas and it started. The battery is less than 6 months old (Die Hard Gold). It's never done this before in the 6 months I've had it, and hasn't done it since, even when the engine is icy cold (the high was 35 today, and it started up beautifully). Any ideas?

  4. Your fuel guage could be miscalibrated. Are you sure its on E and not somewhere between 1/4 and E? The needle can fluctuate in turns and braking/accelerating.
  5. I have a 92 that had a sony 10 disc changer installed in it. I took it out and put in a pioneer HU instead, cuz i dont like going in the trunk to change discs :( I had planned on selling it on ebay but havent gotten around to it yet. I have all the wiring and parts for it, but no installation/user manual for it. If anyone is interested, email me at obie@udel.edu and we can discuss pricing. If not, I plan on selling it on ebay in the next month or so.

  7. It means adding more gas after the auto-shutoff goes. Like you leave it auto filling and it clicks off when it senses that it's full (I believe it measures vapor pressure). It isn't quite full, as you can see if you leave it off for a few seconds then add more. "Topping off" is adding more gas after it shuts itself off.
  8. Ok, today I got my engine flushed and tranny fluid flushed and changed as well as the tranny filter. My mechanic told me that both of my front CV joint boots are ripped and are spewing grease and lube all around and I need to get them replaced before my CV joints blow. He quoted me at 298 for parts and 135 for labor. I have no idea about pricing for repairs, does this seem reasonable? He's a local mechanic and we've been dealing with him for years and he seems to be extremely honest and reliable. They've even done some work for free for us, so we trust them, but this seems a little pricey. Any thoughts?
  9. My front right brake squeals when I brake in the 30-50 mph range, if its soft gradual braking (ie not panic braking). Atleast it sounds like its coming from the front right tire. All four pads have only about 3000 miles on them. Once my speed drops below 30-40 mph, the noise goes away and my braking is whisperquiet. Its rather annoying, as alot of my passengers point it out to me "dude your brakes squeak." Any ideas what could be causing this? Its only when im in the 30-50 mph range. If I'm going 70 and I start braking, it doesnt start the noise until i reach 45-50 or so. It's been doing it since I got the car 3 months ago (when the pads were changed). Also, it doesnt seem to matter whether I'm going straight or turning either way, it still does it.
  10. When I give it alot of gas (not flooring it...maybe 3/4 throttle), my tranny shifts at about 5500 w/o the ECT button on. It seems to shift at a lower RPM when I use the button though. Very odd.
  11. Check through the other posts on this forum and you should get an idea of common problems. Stuff I've noticed (I have a 92 with just under 118k miles): flickering/fading needle lights on dash motor mounts power antennas i havent had any motor mount problems, but my power antenna is currently broken, and my needles are flickering on the speedo and tach.
  12. its the champagne/beige color with silver skirt, with beige/dark brown interior. i wont be doing anything on it until atleast the spring, cuz i have to make a tuition payment in january, so i'll be saving money again after that. unfortunately, my tuition payments wipe me out for a bit :( once i get some money together, i'll probably either step up to 17" rims and/or tint the windows, or if i can get enough together, i'll get HIDs. those are the only plans i have for it, except for adding a K&N air filter in a few weeks.
  13. Mine doesnt beep or flash lights (92). AFAIK, there is no easy way to do it, from what i've been told on these forums. unless you go aftermarket.

  16. The 03 accord coupe looks great. real sporty, just like the solara is for camry. come to think of it, lexus should make another coupe, like the solara. something thats more luxurious than the SC but still pretty sporty. i really like the look of the solara, and i love coupes.
  17. My parents just bought an 03 accord last weekend (if you remember i had asked you guys about the TSX...well they decided to go with the accord). I couldn't talk them into the 6 cylinder, but I drove the 4 and its pretty quick. Here is what came standard with the leather package: moonroof dual zone auto climate control heated seats in dash 6 cd changer w/ premium sound electrochromatic dash lights auto-dimming rear view mirror (i think...not 100% sure) halogen headlamps 16" alloy wheels auto up/down on drivers side (i think this is pretty standard now anyways) 8 way drivers side power seat side airbags (come out of the side of the front seats) I'm probably missing a few things, but the car is beautiful. They got the champagne color with the tan interior, and goddamn is the leather soft. I wish I could take her seats out and put them on mine. Anyways, its a gorgeous car, and they got it for about $22k.

I have a 92 and both the ring around the door keyholes and the ignition keyhole light up green, it looks like its a glow in the dark thing. they seem to be always lit at night. im not sure about my door handle turning the interior lights on though, since i just unlock the doors with the button and hop in the car quickly usually, i dont pause to notice the lights. but the ring around the keyholes do glow in the dark
  19. Do regular oil filters work for synthetic oil or do I need a special (ie more expensive) filter? Also, will I need to pay for a full flush the first time I get it filled with synthetic? And I had figured the ls/avalon were the same body cuz they look about the same size and body shape (more vertical and rectangular headlights in 90s models, and they had more of a Benz sedan shape).
  20. 1. I'm coming up on my first oil change since I bought my car, probably in the next two weeks, and I've been thinking about switching to synthetic. Can anyone tell me their experiences with synthetic? pros/cons, and any recommendations of brands? I figured probably Mobile One, but I dunno much about oils. 2. I'm desparate to improve my fuel economy. I'll be changing my air filter to K&N next month, after my tuition is paid :( A friend recommended one of those fuel system cleaners that you squirt in your gas tank with a fillup. I figured this can't do any harm, and they arent that expensive. Any recommendations of brands? 3. I know the camry's counterpart is the es, and i figured the avalon's counterpart is the ls, but is there a toyota matchup to the gs, sc, and is? Were the supra and sc same car before supra was discontinued?

  22. thanks for the help. I did a search on google but all i came up with was a bunch of places to buy rims. i really like the is rims but i heard they have a different offset? does that make them incompatable?
  23. I'll check them out again. While you're here answering questions, what is the offset for rims? As in, what does that number mean? I see all these different offset numbers, what what does that measurement actually mean?
  24. Has anyone tried and had any luck clearing the yellow from the lens? It seems much too bright, and a few friends have told me it's blindingly bright when I'm behind them. I know the aim is ok, I checked that out, it just seems too yellow. I was thinking it would look better all white light coming from the front. So, any pointers? Can they be cleared? Is it just a coating on the lens or are the bulbs yellow?
