  1. j.b, I saw this post of yours and felt compelled to help since you figured out my issue. I may not be able to help you directly but I'm pretty good with the Search tool. I found a few links that may help. Problemo #1 Topic 1874 Topic 15274 Topic 22431 Problemo #2 Topic 25472 I hope they get you going.
  2. j.b, thanks for staying with me on this. With your persistence, we now know that while it is a VSV, it is the Fuel System VSV as opposed to the EGR System VSV. I did get your original email with attachments but I don't know why I didn't see them in my inbox before, oh well. But yes, we're talking about the same part. I attached the fuelpres.pdf file that you sent me. Fuel System VSV is towards the front of the car and the EGR System VSV is towards the back. Being that I live in the desert and it gets HOT during the summer, I can see where the "FS-VSV" is needed. Ok, so NEW question. What function does the filter do? It seems to only be used when air comes out of pipe E. No air seems to be drawn in from the filter, only out of. What is in the air that needs to be filtered? "Battery voltage is applied : The air from pipe E is flowing out through the air filter. Battery voltage is not applied : The air from pipe E is flowing out through pipe G." As a side note, I noticed that the '90 & '91's don't have the VCV for Evap Purge, that third "thing" near the EGR. fuelpres.pdf
  3. Thanks bicol-ini, a VSV it is then. ko, thanks for the PDF. j.barleycorn, I didn't get your Email for some reason. Hotmail probably blocked the attachment because it was too big. Thanks anyways. Based on what your search found and confirmed by bicol-ini, a VSV it is. There is another recent thread where someone is offering parts off of their '91 LS400. I contacted them and they've offered to send me the part. Thanks all for your help.
  4. j.barleycorn, thanks for the offer, click my card for my email address. I don't think it's a VCV, but it's possible I suppose. Attached is another photo showing the other side of the part that has the numbers on it.
  5. Thanks for the replies. kcpth, the lexls tutorial mentions the VSV, but that's not my part. It's very similar but it's towards the front of the car and they don't look interchangable. I've attached a photo to more precisly identify it. j.barlycorn, thanks for the PDF, I hadn't seen that before. My part isn't one of the items described. I circled it in an attached photo. The "canister" that broke off looks like the filter on the VSV so while I need to take care of it, it may be okay in the short term. But I'd hate for too much dust getting sucked in and mess something up. We're getting close. I hope that with my clarification, we can get it identified.
  6. I need to identify the part that is located behind the Diagnostic port. The part numbers printed on it are 90910-12076 and 184600-0621. It is the part with the electric cluster that plugs into the top of it and has 2 hoses connecting to it (from front and top back) Here is a photo from the gallery http://us.lexusownersclub.com/gallery/LS/L..._side_cover_off that shows it. The small plastic canister sticking out of it from the back broke off. It looks as if there was glue on it where it must have been glued on previous to my owning the car. About how much is it and what negative effects are there driving with it broken?
  7. do a search for "dcfish" his is the resident cd changer expert. I bought a refirbed cd changer and sub from him and have been very pleased. I too notice that my "new" cdchanger doesn't like to play as well when it's cold, later in the day when it's warmer, it plays fine.
  8. There are relays for the seat heaters and are located under the front passenger seat. You should hear a clicking sound when you press the buttons. Do you? I've had my car for about a year and at first they didn't work even though I heard the clicking sound. And now as it's gotten cold, I tried them and the work, yeah. I can't explain why they started working all of a sudden though.
  9. I think I've seen this posted before here, you'd have to do a search to find them. Mine has the same slight left side dip as well. It's barely noticable so I'm not too worried and don't plan to do anything 'bout it.
  10. Threadcutter, the picture Gumart1 posted is actually the DIRTY photo. It's a photo posted to the forum's gallery by 91LS400. Here is the clean photo: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/gallery/LS/DSCF0021. Here is another before photo as the solenoid looks installed (notice no locking nut): http://us.lexusownersclub.com/gallery/LS/DSCF0017. The locking nut must be a Gen 2 addition. I just cleaned mine again while doing a front rotor/pad replacement. Back to easy turning again. On a bad note, the screen was filled with brass shavings. Not a good thing. My pump has been whining for some time so I know it needs to be rebuilt or replaced soon.
  11. Gene, Here is the ENTIRE iceberg, and then some: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/audio/powerantenna.html
  12. nc211, I'm confused, isn't your 95 ls400 at the dealer's for the wobble problem (following other thread)? I don't know you like the others so maybe you have another lexus I'm not aware of. Anyways, just curious.
  13. Scottsdale Costco 2.53 for premium on 11/15/05. VBdenny - "on 11/20/05 I think premium was" - shouldn't that "will be" ;) .
  14. They're activated when you push the windshield "Front" defrost button. They don't shake.
  15. OK, taking my own medicine from another forum I frequent, I did a Search for "+seat +heater" and came up with THESE threads. (this one included) However, there are a few threads discussing seat heaters. One of them may answer your questions. btw, my seat heaters mysteriously started working, I have no idea why and I didn't do anything.
  16. Just make sure those CDs you're putting into your computer are NOT from SonyBMG. Check this out: Sony hit by lawsuits over root kit
  17. That would be my guess to. I sometimes bump the remote door lock switch too and wonder why my key doesn't open the door.
  18. babylexus92, As for your ac display problem, are the results of a +climate +control +display Search. Some of the threads discuss your exact problem. Good luck getting your new ride cleaned up.
  19. lexluxury, here is a link to another thread for a '95, should be the same as yours: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...=cabin+++filter
  20. Did you do this before or after the car wouldn't start... before or after you replaced the battery? If before, are you sure you have everything connected properly? Here is a novel idea, what about just jumping the car, do you have another car to jump with?
  21. Mine clicks/ticks too. Same thing, clicking gets faster/slower depending on speed. I found this thread and a couple others, but no one says they actually fixed it and what they did. Has anyone experienced this ticking sound and actually got rid of the sound? If so, what did you do?
  22. Based on what I've read here my 18.4 - mostly city miles - isn't too bad. 334.2 total miles on 18.1 gallons = 18.4 mpg. Gauge on E and warning light just came on at 333 miles. Oh, and that's with no AC running as I still haven't got it fixed. But had the AC been running the mpg might have been sucked doen to ~16, then that's not too good.
  23. OK, I see what you mean. I didn't notice this before but there is a Series 1 and 2 in the Gen 1 ls400's and the engine layout is different. Check out the differences between them here: http://www.lexls.com/info/lsgenerations.html. Unfortunately they don't have the resolution to give enough detail. See the under the under-hood photos. Does your 93 have a label under the hood with the emissions schematic? Does it show the EGR-VM? Maybe its integrated or sealed in the G1S2s.
