  1. Agreed LOC avoids the troll-like exchanges, it's the best in the business. Put the pic idea "on ice" for now pls.
  2. Let's see some pics of those clean machines...
  3. Regen noise (to charge batteries) maybe?
  4. I have the same bottom line preference, I enjoy driving and playing tennis more than spectating. I am an actual doer on a regular basis, I cross train some to stay in shape to continue doing. From a Car Chat perspective, I have a long history of driver-oriented cars, even with my Lexus included. I like to be hands-on in the enjoyment of fine machinery, love the look, feel, sound.
  5. Welcome to LOC skyshadow07. Light treatment came out great. Are you planning to blackout grill and other bright trim too?
  6. I too enjoy autocross, very user-friendly for spectators and allows for close-up viewing.
  7. The decline in NASCAR attendance is pretty much nationwide, not just a west coast trend where it's obviously more pronounced. They are removing seats and covering them with tarps in order to mask the trend. Driving race cars for a few laps is not the same experience as watching them. I've watched NASCAR and Indy cars (and dragsters) live and prefer the Indy cars ( the exotic sounds and smells alone are more intense ). US car racing in general faces the difficult challenge of keeping fans actively involved. Agreed, knowing the players and drivers makes a difference in any sport. Talk about people running around chasing a ball (like basketball), I watch pro tennis and know all the top 20 players, both men and woman. I've actually met some of them at special events. I play amateur tennis on regular basis so I know the sport very well. LEXUS (and Mercedes and Porsche) is a high profile sponsor at many tennis events, they seem to know what they are doing.
  8. NASCAR attendance is declining and TV ratings are slumping in many if not most parts of US, it's been going on for several years. I'd like to hear how they plan to stop the decline, huge swaths of empty seats on weekends are often visible.
  9. Little interest in NASCAR to be honest, I've seen them in action before. Indy cars do more for me.
  10. Agree too, I always pass immediately. And a couple of things are built-in to makes sure dealer keeps the money: 1. The 30 day window. Every minute that passes once the customer takes the "deal" and walks out of Finance Managers office works in favor of dealer. They know most customers will end up doing nothing. 2. In the somewhat rare case where customer tries to get refund, they will have a bunch of reasons, excuses, and misc crap to talk customer into keeping it. By saying no immediately 1 and 2 above are avoided.
  11. Mesh style wheels are so common today via dozens of brands, but I agree they do have a BBS look to them. From the pics it's hard to tell if it's a 1 piece or actual 2 piece wheel.
  12. Luv the old iron, always gets my attention. Car people (both fans of old and fans of new) are cool, always fun to talk with.
  13. "Tuned exhaust", love it. When a Aston Martin V8 passes me, I make sure to roll down windows and listen to the sweet exhaust and mechanical music.
  14. Yes, first thing is to check tire pressure first thing in the morning before driving. What brand/model tire came with this particular RX? Tires make a significant difference in ride quality even if sizing is exactly the same. (Being CPO at 31K miles, they are not the same tires that were shipped on the car directly from factory, so that's why I asked question above.)
  15. 2016 GT350 is what I want to hear in person soon....
  16. Lately I've noticed many late model Mustang GT's around here running modified exhaust systems, sounds great.
  17. Besides the 2 small stickers I mentioned on rear door vent windows, this car came pre-stickered from the factory...
  18. ^ I'll pretend I didn't read that.
  19. My Lexus is sticker-free. But my Honda Civic has 2 small stickers on rear door small windows (one is a tennis racquet decal, other is CUKUI decal)...
  20. I kind of understand why Service people hit the AUTO button on a summer day, just to get a quick AC cooldown with 1 touch. It's also common for Service departments to turn off all lights completely so they don't drain battery and have bright lights in the shop while working on car. But sport mode to comfort/econo... Does it reset upon restart? Or maybe when they run diagnoistics, it resets to default?
  21. In short (regarding Manual mode), once you fiddle with fan speed and temperature and outside air button, the AUTO light turns off and you are essentially in Manual mode. In most cars it stays that way upon restart too, which is how I prefer to operate the climate control system on a daily basis. Sometimes I get my car back from service at Lexus dealership and it's in AUTO mode, but once I fiddle with fan speed, temperature, etc. it goes into manual mode until somebody hits AUTO button again. The side effect of this mode of operation on regular basis is no stinky ventilation system. It's worked for me in several vehicles equipped with climate control systems (including Lexus, Mercedes, Jag, Porsche).
  22. I like the compact sport sedan sizing and balance of the IS for same reasons, they are great back/mountain road cars (with lots of lovely twisties). Anything bigger tends to be annoying when the roads get narrow. I live in the middle of sports car country (from a drivers standpoint) including easy access to 2 coastal mountain ranges loaded with beautiful mountain roads. I purposely have my IS configured to be optimal for roads of this sort. I've lived in this particular hilly location for 12 years and owned 2 Porsche Boxsters for recreation use here, so the IS had some big shoes to fill as they say. The IS350 at 306hp is a bit quicker than both the Boxster and Boxster S. As per the title here, happiness is....
  23. 2 of my current cars have climate control (versus regular manual) systems. I never use AUTO with these climate control systems, I'm always in manual mode using outside air (because I control fan speed and set temperature myself, leaving in outside air mode, the AUTO light is always off) and it stays in this mode upon restart. Since I'm running outside air 98% of time, never had the problem. I've done this on cars that were always garaged and cars that were always parked outside (various climate control mostly premium cars, highest mileage one was to 128K miles), same results. My cabin filters are changed at intervals per owners manual. Hope this helps. It's worked for me for 20 years+. Note: This stinky problem is not just a Lexus problem or LS problem, it occurs with vehicles of several automakers.
  24. He was smirking and accelerating, perfectly legal. Another happy Lexus owner! Thumbs up.
  25. He probably didn't notice, lol. (Not that we encourage street racing on LOC)
