  1. Welcome to LOC Roberto. What's the repair that needs to be done on your IS250?
  2. Super nice LFA. I had the chance to check out LFA at Lexus drivers event in San Mateo and watch it in action (on autocross course).
  3. A better idea for tomorrow 1/27 than when I originally posted this...
  4. Lexus CPO certification and warranty adds value, and yes it's big profitable business. It's administered well with oversight by Lexus corporate. It is not some easy way for dealers to "rip off" Lexus used car buyers. Many used Lexus vehicles never meet the criteria for certification, (and for those buyer beware as they say), they are are often wholesaled to be sold through other less savory channels. In the rare case where a non compliant car slips through inspection process, buyer has legal recourse. These CPO warranties are not questionable aftermarket warranties sold by warranty salespeople/managers. Only a Lexus dealership can sell CPO car with valid CPO warranty. The CPO warranty is only transferable if sale by owner is directly to another private party.
  5. What brand/model detector did you go with?
  6. Welcome to LOC. Maybe a separate posting in IS and RC sections will get responses. Those (southern CA) owners will be most receptive to new products.
  7. DC isn't even close to being high tech capital of world. (Although it might be world capital of government spend). Tech capital is commonly called Silicon Valley but more accurately is greater SF Bay Area, CA.
  8. I've driven the new Explorer. It's called mid sized but it pushes the limits of mid (yes, it's very big). It's not a premium lux SUV like RX, ML, X5, Q5.
  9. That's also main reason why I live in the high tech capital of the world (job/local demand for skillset), the weather is just a fringe benefit. Although when I retire I will continue to live in a area nearby with Mediterranean climate which I enjoy.
  10. 72F and partly sunny today in Santa Clara Valley. Mighty pleasant after a few chilly days in 50's. It's fine by my standards for January, after a wet December.
  11. I rent a AWD/4wd SUV when visiting high country in winter. My Lexus IS runs summer tires, climate at my home is 300 days/year of sun (I play tennis outdoors year round).
  12. Sure RX could could benefit from a slightly larger footprint (and 3rd row seating), but I agree with Stephen that care should be taken with RX sizing and not let it get too bloated. Note: 2014 US sales of RX were much higher than MDX. Lexus Is in a leadership position in this class of mid sized premium crossover SUV, the rest of the competing automakers know it.
  13. Yes, 3rd row rear seats are important features to offer in the mid-larger SUV market. I tend to have concerns about their safety, in small-mid sized SUV's. The rear crush space they occupy seems a bit vulnerable in a hard rear collision.
  14. Staying home is one way to not be on the news show this evening.
  15. Yes, I'm expecting something along the lines of what you described (NX-t-ike). As of today I think Lexus is being very secretive on purpose.
  16. I think we should be excited about the debut, or at least be hopeful. Because I'm very sure that's a picture of the old/current RX. With that much a redesign, most likely every single body panel (including roof, doors, hood, hatch, front and rear fenders, plus every piece of glass) will change.
  17. That picture looks like the current RX to me. I don't think Lexus wants to show us real pic until April. If that's what they actually plan for the redesigned 2016 RX (I expect not or hope not), I'd be very disappointed.
  18. Wow, black on black M5. How's the M5 experience so far?
  19. Yawn, I hope I'm pleasantly surprised with the 2016 model.
  20. Thanks Stephen. After going back and reading OP's post #1 again, the dealership experience was not the best. Regarding question #2., the dealership should provide a copy of the CPO checklist (completed and signed) with or without the CPO warranty. My Lexus dealership (in Fremont) experience has also been straightforward and without deception from day 1. That's a main reason why they continue to get my service business 6 years later, plus I'm fortunate to have an excellent service writer that I deal exclusively with.
  21. The luxury car business is tough and competitive. Many automakers trying to make their brand a top tier lux brand.
  22. Regarding the Lexus CPO certification that comes with a Lexus CPO warranty. The Lexus dealership can remove the CPO warranty coverage on an already "certified" car, therefore reducing the cost to dealer and hopefully the price to buyer too. I've experienced an offer/deal of this kind before (Lexus specifically), but declined the offer preferring to negotiate the price based on warranty to be included. But that situation should be very clear. A dealership that presents this kind of situation in a vague/confusing or unclear manner is not worth dealing with. Separately the issue of CPO certification that includes meeting specific criteria (including miles/age/accident history) and nearly always involves some amount of maintenance, repair and refurbishment. A properly certified car with our without the CPO warranty is still the same car.
  23. I see mini vans that look like bumper cars, based on wide variety of damaged areas at all 4 corners. Suspect driving skills probably play a part...
