  1. Do yourself a favor and shop through the internet....make offers only online...you will get a better deal from their internet sales....
  2. sounds like the spring that pushes the door is broken...cheap simple part takes about 2 minutes to install..it snaps in... SPRING, FUEL FILLER OPENING LID HINGE 77360-30070 2006.03-2009.08 GSV40 1 $4.60 $3.64 illlustration: part 77366 http://lexus.sewellparts.com/oem-catalog/7701771879-Body-ES350-2008.html
  3. My son has also experienced the shimmy on his ES350 07....He just replaced rotors and pads with slotted rotors and pads and says the car has never been so smooth...I suggest going to aftermarket, as I too feel the pads should last at least 50k miles.. Heck my old RX300 went 90k miles on the original pads and the rotors lasted 120k before any indications of shimmy. here are the ones he installed: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ELINE-PERFORMANCE-Brake-Rotors-and-Pads-FRONT-REAR-/350488434300?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3ALexus%7CModel%3AES350&hash=item519abd167c

  5. What kind of plugs did you put in? I hope not Bosch.....
  6. good man, rest up...
  7. OK Paul, man up get it out, either way we respect your opinion....
  8. You deserve it Army....Now there is no denying any type of disability when it becomes necessary....
  9. Boy do I agree with that....God Bless.
  10. Low life b#####sturds....Glad to hear you are OK Josh...Whatever you do make sure you get all copies of your medical records for in the future....Dont trust the Army to keep them safe for you....Great pictures by the way...God Bless you.
  11. Still may have sludge in the bottom oil pan....You said they replaced head gaskets? Why was that done?
  12. Two things, has the valve cover been removed and checked for sludge? And has the PCV valve been replaced....?
  13. There are folks that have dry it out.. and resealed...
  14. Just my opinion, but the interior seems nicer with the wood on the 2008....Does it have the ML stereo system and Navigation...Look at all of the accessories on both vehicles. I purchased my 2008 with 88k miles and am very happy....Just turned 100k since March of this year...Did the Timing belt, water pump, etc...good to go now for another 25k miles for the spark plugs...Look closely at the Headlights for moisture condensation also...The 2008 was the last year of this model... RXrey has a beautiful 2006....
  15. Also the economy is tanking further, more job loss.
  16. the spring is replaceable and takes about 1 minute to do...Just get the spring from the dealership.
  17. That is up to you, and your mechanic...are you doing the job? if so you have saved yourself so much money that I would do the waterppump as it is driven by the timing belt...However they are very solid, and when the belt is changed there is no indication of weeping from the pump then you could just change the belt...Just remember to inspect it carefully....I just did all of this on my RX and figured I saved around $850 in labor....
  18. I do not know about the DACO belt...I just know that the OE belts last forever, Dont short change the quality of the belt...If anything get a kit without the tensioner...The tensioner should be just fine...that may reduce the cost... here is a perfect kit...and all of the oe parts... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AISIN-Water-Pump-Timing-Belt-Kit-Lexus-RX400h-Hybrid-06-08-/300572428458?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3ALexus%7CModel%3ARX400h&hash=item45fb8348aa
  19. The second kit (Aisin) would be my choice...YOu basically want the Aisin waterpump, Koyo bearings, and Mitsoboshi timing belt...they are all original equipment manufactorers. I just did this on my RX400H...Made a crankshaft pully removeal tool and went to town...the hardest thing was holding the rear cam in position when tensioning...Save yourself a lot of headache and make sure to removed the windshield wiper cowl assembly...it gives you the necessary room to work on the engine....There is a lEXUS rx300 U TUBE VIDEO ON THE PROCEDURE WHICH IS basically the same as our cars, except we dont have to remove air/conditioning pump, power steering etc... Please note the Aisin, koyo, and Mitsoboshi are the brands of choice... I know it is more, but you dont want to do this twice....here is a thread from Club Lexus that shows the tool that I made... http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-second-generation/579348-timing-belt-change-nightmare.html

    New Here

    Welcome aboard....
  21. I got one from Rock Auto, I would think any replacement would be good...
  22. Agree with code58, as for that price i would have taken it to an independent and for that price you could get the timing belt, and water pump done....Do you have any coolant on the ground under the car?
  23. Post some pictures....
  24. could just be a dirty IACV valve....
  25. Could still be transmission....The valve body in a transmission is like the clean room on the space shuttle...Debris can stop the proper piston movement and eventually score the soft aluminum sides of the piston bores...The pistons hang up and cause improper shifting etc. A flush will not fix the problem...The debris is usually from poor maintenance or a failure inside the transmission...ie planetary gears wear out the the filings contaminate the filter and valve body assembly...at that point the transmission needs a rebuild...I personally tried to save mine (RX300) by removing the valve body and cleaning, but the gear failure was too much...Whatever you do dont do a flush...Drain and fill only on these tranny's....Now your car is quite aged, and yes the solenoid could have failed along with the wiring degenerating....But my bet it is tranny time. good luck seriously doubt the flex pipe and converter would cause you a problem unless you have codes present which may put the transmission in limp mode until the codes are cleared...Shoot unplug the battery for 10 minutes and reconnect and see if the problem goes away.
