  1. Go to sewell Lexus and look up the part under the different years...that would give you the answer.
  2. I would also change the pcv valve to make sure there isn't excessive back pressure. Cheap try for a solution. It is located on rear valve cover on the passenger side of engine.
  3. I guess we can no longer debate topics outside of Lexus.....I guess NSA is listening.
  4. I would bet the tongue weight is 350 lb....BEWARE though of unstable front end with the transfer of weight hanging out the rear.
  5. I would be concerned about the drive components. Tie rod etc.
  6. Yes the edge gets crushed by normal jack. The jack with the car rides on both sides of the edge. I used a soft piece of wood (pine) on my hydraulic jack that has a slit cut in it to accommodate the edge lift points.
  7. Those are funny...thanks for a quiet laugh.
  8. I guess until Lexus clarifies the details we wont know, THe NTHSA site was saying if previously done you probably aren't included.
  9. Maybe they were trying to be too selective last recall and realized that the remaining cars potentially have the same problem...Very costly problem for some bean counters poor decision to cut cost or procedures designed by engineers. Saw this all the time at my former large corporation. save a few cents in manufacturing and cost the field folks huge repairs in the future. What is the saying penny wise or dollar foolish.
  10. I would like you to know that alternatives to Toyota Type IV are available. Mobil 1 full synthetic tranny fluid works well, and of course Amsoil. I added an external oil filter on my old RX300 but the canister was huge (Old PH8) size which added nearly a quart to the system...Never had any issues with the additional filter.
  11. here is more, if you already had ipm replaced than you can skip this according to recall notice: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchResults?searchType=ID&targetCategory=R&searchCriteria.nhtsa_ids=13V396&refurl=email
  12. The transmission fluid should be drain and refilled. Dropping the pan and cleaning or replacing the filter would also be a great idea. DO NOT HAVE THEM DO A FLUSH, DO NOT HAVE THEM PERFORM A FLUSH. Sorry but that is very important. Also the Spark Plugs may be due. If all service has been performed at Lexus you should be able to pull up records on MY LEXUS site and see what was done. Other than the normal fluids that should be it. THe timing belt should have been performed at 90k miles.
  13. I like them, they are wearing perfectly even. I have 30k miles now and they are still quiet, However please note my hearing isn't as good as It was when I was younger. I am interested in how they are going to wear for the long run. But if I get 40 to 50k miles I would be happy for the price. In wet they are fantastic, but don't know how they would do in snow. Tire Rack as said gives some good feedback, and that is where I bought them. I really want a lot (long wearing and quiet) maybe Michelins next.
  14. yep announced on national news networks. apparently some have had engine go completely dead.....
  15. Hey at least he has goals....lot better than a lot of young folk. Go for it I say.
  16. This is the status of this morning on MY Lexus Safety Recall DLF (D2F - Interim) - Certain 2006 through 2008 Model Year RX 400H Vehicles Intelligent Power Module (IPM) Replacement At the present time, Lexus is developing the remedy for this safety recall. Lexus will notify owners of covered vehicles by first class mail. Please continue to check this site for additional information. What is the Condition? Within the vehicle, inside the inverter assembly is an Intelligent Power Module (IPM) which contains a control board equipped with transistors. The solder underneath these transistors could degrade and eventually cause damage to them, illuminating various warning lights on the instrument panel. In most cases, the vehicle will enter a fail-safe mode, resulting in reduced motive power in which the vehicle can still be driven for short distances. In limited instances, the fuse of the power supply circuit could blow, causing the hybrid system to shut down and resulting in the vehicle stopping while being driven.
  17. Thanks for your post, good luck, but if you can nurse more miles that is good. I suspect that eventually the tranny will fail...Hopefully a long time from now.
  18. Great auto, love the 1st and 2nd generation....maybe next one will be the 3rd generation.
  19. Yes mine too are noisier. I am thinking of the Michelin MXV4 tires next time but Yokohama now has a new low resistance rolling tire out too....What I want is quiet, and long wear. We don't experience adverse weather where we live.
  20. Just wanted to update on the Yokohama Parada X tires. I have rotated every 5k miles and presently have 30k miles. They are wearing perfectly even, but I am not sure how wear wise they are doing. THey have tread, but I didn't measure them. What kind of wear is everybody else getting.?????
  21. Did you check the oil control valve screen....I think the coills will fix it
  22. Don't forget dielectric grease and the oil control valve has a filter screen
  23. I would start with 2 & 6 make sure to use dielectric grease on the connection forfo Moisture and arc suppression
  24. Again, don't trust your method of troubleshooting coils, they can act very intermittent. Moving them and see if the code changes would be a better method. The OCV could be a culprit, but generally will effect the entire bank of cylinders. The oil control valve would effect all three cylinders as it changes the cam timing.
