  1. Well, I still love my RX400h (2008) have had it for two years and put almost 50k miles on it. It is truly a great city commuter, but man it is so comfortable for the long hauls...Sac to LA at least 7 times and it never wears me out. I Find its power beyond my expectations. We too drove a RX450H, but at the time I didn't want to go into another expensive payment. Found this RX400h for $25k and it makes every feature far better than the old RX300 (1999). We drove the 1999 till 2011 and sold it with 187k miles...I fully expect to drive this 400h to at least 250k miles. I expect the usual maintenance, do fear the hybrid batteries, and some of the systems such as Steering rack, air conditioner, etc. They are nothing like the non hybrid. We have had the Hybrid cooling pump fail, and one wheel bearing, but other than that it is truly a very tight, quiet vehicle at 129k miles.
  2. You are probably looking at knock sensors as well as the wiring harness going to them...Their failure mode will cause the engine to go in limp mode.
  3. I heard that the ATS is indeed a great ride. I don't believe the ES will be your choice, but you will have to test one to decide.
  4. Yep they are living on the high hog with our oil money....
  5. Seems to me there are 535 useless people in the government....I would rather take bums off the street and let them make the decisions that are necessary.
  6. Now we know how the patriots felt when they dumped tea in Boston Harbor.....God Bless America on this day of Armed Forces Day. Thank a VET
  7. Actually the map update has been going for around $169 around here from the dealership....does it appear to be a good update you purchased?
  8. I too agree with the fact that our Congressional as well as administration is sick. But the sad part is the Americans have drank the cool aid and vote for the idiots that give them the most entitlements. Next will be the legalization of illegals to get their vote. Our government is so power hungry that they forgot whom makes the money that supports their spending....Because of this I no longer affiliate with either party, but look as and independent.
  9. I too am worried about healthcare, social security, and thank you for your work ethics... Unfortunately anything government is allowed to run when gone wild is a disaster. Oh I wish I had invested in Intel back in 1974.........
  10. Oh yea, local is another whole story....seems just about every government entity forgot that they are not a business, produce no products, but spend like drunken sailors. (sorry my fellow shipmates) and yes there is corruption there also from golden handshakes of officials with outrageous salaries. The integrity once held by government workers is lost when so many exploit there positions for self importance instead of being a humble servant of the people.
  11. Plus 1 on the sunroof drains....generally it is the culprit....
  12. Considering the events of the last 8 months, I find that government has now reached a boiling point of corruption. Finally the media when backed to the wall, is even starting to do some reporting showing the lack of leadership, illegal activities as related to the IRS, Benghazi, and AP scandal. Our government has obviously grown so large and become so power hungry that our rights are being destroyed, and our trust has been destroyed. This administration through there dragging there feet when caught with illegal activities under Eric Holder is an example of bad government. I feel there should be a special prosecutor appointed to be bi-partisan in handling all of these activities. Any justice under Eric Holder is a joke. What do you guys think?
  13. Sad as it is, there are good and bad dealerships, Lexus of Roseville Ca is the bad, even though it is owned by Lexus of Sacramento which had always treated me well...Cant figure it considering they are supposed to be a class act.
  14. Oh man, removing the valve body is a pain....has to be done very carefully. Sorry on lack of answers, but you seem to have experienced a first on the Lexus sites that I monitor...Thanks for the solution.
  15. you might read this thread, it has a lot of useful info http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-first-generation/246412-obdii-code-p1153.html
  16. Did you use Denso OEM sensors? If you used Bosch, that is probably your problem, however are there any cracks in the exhaust manifold? or leaks in the flex coupling on exhaust.
  17. Funny that is where the old RX300 had its tire, but no rattle noises from the tire cover. As for the battery, that is not optimum to me, kind of like the german bmw cars......Glad your enjoying your new ride. Sounds like a very nice ride.
  18. Wow, talk about a change in venue, congrats on your purchase, great car enjoy.
  19. Seem to read that there are suspension issues....do some searching
  20. Well here is tranny fluid changed at 18k miles with total vehicle mileage at 129k....Dirty on left....By the way the fluid is up to $11 and change per qt. But if you live in my neck of woods (Sacramento) you can get 20% discount on all parts on sundays at Roseville Toyota....
  21. I agree totally, I tried dealing with a ridiculous price two years ago, and was getting no where. I than was told by Lexus to pursue CarMax for a trade in value of my existing RX300 and while waiting accessed their computer and found a RX400h one year newer and 6k cheaper than the best price at Lexus...All of the same bells and whistles, and Yep bought from CarMax and have been delighted in my 6k one year newer RX400h which Lexus of Sacramento said hey its not CPO, and I replied hey for 6k I can buy a warranty. You might try private, or CarMax and have the same success, good luck in your quest....they really are great vehicles after you own one.
  22. with that mileage it could still be a CPO....Is the car in decent shape other than the speakers? Get the vin # and then register on MYLEXUS.com and run a history on its maintenance.
  23. I would negotiate the repair of speakers etc in the deal...How many miles are on it?
  24. Would also recommend some Graphite powder lube in the ignition key slot...Sold at hardware or locksmith stores, put a little on the key and insert in and out and turn switch with powder on key, a little can be squirted in lock cylinder also...be careful, the graphite is a fine powder. Do not use WD40 or other lubricants.
  25. That is totally weird, the pump especially the Toyota one is very robust....Maybe your tensioner is bad....Also the idlers for timing belt, are they all good? I would suspect the tensioner....
