  1. Good luck, hope it is something simple.
  2. I wonder if the clutch between the engine and hybrid sytem is failing....I would have to review the theory of the Lexus hybrid to see it again. seems there was an electrical clutch. The other thought since you have random misfires is that the oil control valve on either bank 1 or 2 is failing or the screen is dirty. On our old RX300's that happened with age and dirty oil.
  3. I would try 0-30 Castrol Oil European blend full synthetic. I found this oil extremely good, it even cleaned the crust under the oil fill cap. The Oil says specifically made in Germany....Autozone has it at times.
  4. The plugs are normally replaced at 120k miles. However some have gone way over that mileage with no problems. The iridium plugs are very robust. I have to change my rear three soon, I obtained a manifold gasket and will attempt soon. My vehicle has 141k miles. The front plugs looked great at that mileage.
  5. Have to wait and see what codes they found.
  6. Something is not right if it is dry. That valve controls the Variable timing on the rear cam shaft. As the pressure is controlled it changes the timing on the cam. Maybe the passage is clogged.
  7. You could have sludge on rear bank.....Have you been using oil between changes.?
  8. And if you don't want to do it yourself, you could also take it to a Toyota dealership and look for their quick lube specials.
  9. I understand, however The government had NASA and the NTSB investigate Toyota, and there was no proof of electronic failure in the Toyota product for sudden acceleration. The floor mat was rectified and Toyota covered it. General motors on the other hand new about the defect in their ignition switches and continued producing them. THey caused 33 or more lives to be lost. Your failure is no more different than in the old days of having a fuel pump go bad while on the freeway...Remember one thing, Cars are mechanical and they do fail. Toyota has a long standing history of reliability. Hey my Ford F150 has known bad fuel injectors which cause the same failure you have but Ford refuses to replace them all, instead will only replace them one at a time when they fail. Driving on the freeway is a potential for death anytime you have any failure, it could be a Blown tire which causes you to need to get over quickly....I again am happy you are safe, but your failure, other than being early for that component is normal. Your part of the country is harsher on cars than where I live and so timely maintenance and preventative maintenance is a must. By the way lets see if the Government imposes a fine on General Motors, like they did to Toyota.
  10. Its not going to hurt anything, But maybe pick up high mileage synthetic and mix 50/50 with that for two oil changes.
  11. Ok sorry to resurrect this but I had mine done yesterday and no presets were disturbed. but what really bothers me is that I took hybrid covers off and the IPM cover does not appear to have been disturbed (road grime dust etc with no smudges) The ticket said they replaced the transistor and two tubes of grease) I hope they did not do a paper install and charge for it. Any thoughts.? Is there any way to tell if they did it.? Sorry just don't trust these dealerships. THe shop forum balked at doing the ISC reset, but I showed him the TSB that explicitly points out that anytime the battery is disconnected that the ISC should be reset. What a bunch of idiots.
  12. You know coil packs can fail on any car, like on my Ford F150, Yes they shouldn't, but it happens. As for shutting down it should have only started running ragged. Unless all of your coils failed which I doubt. My question is has the Check engine light been on and ignored? If so then the car will eventually go into limp mode. Sorry it happened to you, and the cost of service sucks, but Hope it gets fixed for you. By the way never wash your engine compartment down with water, this can cause coil pack failures.
  13. The listed on the bio is an RX350, not a hybrid...
  14. I would check brake light switch under the dash...Sometimes the switch is a two part switch and the half that disables the cruise is defective.
  15. Here is a decription of how to remove center console. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/55172-how-do-i-remove-center-console/
  16. Ok I take back my son's experience with the aftermarket disks and pads. It is is vibrating again upon braking...Does anybody have a long term fix for the 2007 ES350 braking issues.?
  17. Looks fantastic. Yea 4 foot gates are better. Put a rolling wheel on the ends and you have great support. As for deck, I only do concrete. Less maintenance and easy upkeep. you could add brick to match the house as expansion joints.
  18. I have ordered bearings and brushes from Sewell Lexus and rebuilt the alternator on a RX300....Easy task.
  19. The two sensors I believe are wired in series on the heater side, so If one has a open heater, than both do.
  20. Hey, now project time....Your Ram fits that driveway well. Whats your first mod.?
  21. Your problem is the very first that I have ever heard of a cracked engine block. Something went wrong, and I still feel that the mechanics had something to do with it. I do not know what solutions you have in Europe, but would suggest contacting your regions lexus headquarters. Something is very wrong with this whole story.
  22. Sorry to hear that, I think they messed up something when they replaced the hybrid transmission. Sounds to me they left something loose between the engine and transmission and it came loose and maybe took out the engine block or possibly a freeze plug.....
  23. Sounds really strange to me, When they replaced the system, do you mean the inverter system or just the IPM recall board. The board should have had nothing to do with the engine failing. Now if the replaced the inverter, than they would have had to remove the transaxle from the car and maybe messed up something when putting it back on the Gas engine. I am not understanding exactly what they did.?
  24. good job, DIY always saves in the long run. I hope you used Denso or NGK plugs. Bosch should never touch this car.
  25. Did you use Bosch or Denso sensors....? Denso only.... also check your flex pipe to see if it is cracked.
