  1. Sold AS IS 320,000KM. Runs well The following work needs to be done: Hood repaint, fender blend Replace drivers side OCV(its working fine, throws ECL after replacement maybe due to the wrong part) Clean speed sensors Replace e-nrake cables. asking $3000

No sure what hapenned but here is the sequence of events Left/rear side making annoying sqeeking noise - suspected the problem to be in rotors Replaced rotors + brake pads Light thump on the back axis/breaks? after starting the car and driving first 1-2 meters 3 weeks after left/rear can hear thick friction noise few days after the car started to shake violently while driving, after it runs for 10 min goes to normal Light thump on the back becomes a loud and with bigger force Had the shop to take brakes/rotos apart clean and lubricate. No more shaking. Thump still exists. Any idea what that might be? This happens 1-2 seconds after putting the car on D and releasing breaks.
  3. my cyls were slightly misfiring from the time i bought the car. Check engine never showed up and slight rough idle was never a concern until it got very bad. Can that cause cats to go faster than they should? I live in Canada so I think i have the resonator?
  4. I was told by Lexus sales manager that there is a third one which is right at Y pipe somewhere in the middle. Is this Bank 3?
  5. I was wandering if anyone knows how many cat. converters GS400 has? I've been given different info from different sources. Also, since the car is 13 years old and has 300,000km on it i don't think its feasible to install OEM. Any suggestions/tips on aftermarket cats?
  6. So i'm at 290,000km and I think its time to do my timing belt. Can someone tell me what parts does a mechanic usually replace besides timing belt and water pump? Other belrs? Rings?
  7. Long story short. Three month ago my vehicle would drop RPM and its idle became so rough that I felt like i'm in a salt shaker. This problem would only occur after the car warms up. Days past by and car begins to shake even when its cold. Codes showed Cyl 1,3,5,7 misfire. These were not coil as I have tried switching them places from another side of my engine. Vehicle would gulp gasoline like there was no tomorrow. Spent close to 500 on diagnostics that led me nowhere. Finally I find a post on this forum and decide to give it a shot The poster said he replaced his Oil Control Valce OCV Solenoid. I got my replacemen from eBay: TOYOTA 2UZFE 3UZFE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE Manufacturer Part Number: 15330-50011 Other Part Number: 15330-0F010 Replaced the unit and BAM, car back to normal again. Check engine light and VSC did not go away so not sure if it just has to be erased or engine still misfires because maybe the plugs got dirty by not sparking properly
  8. I've been calling places to get quotes but i am not sure if i got 2 or 1? One place tells me its 2 another 1Where did you find OEM cats for $160?
  9. Checked my car at mechanic and he said that catalytic converter isn't performing the way it should be. Its a 98 GS400 with 270,000km on it. What can happen if i keep driving without replacing the converter? In case i need to replace it, would aftermarket one work fine?
  10. I have recently changed my brake pads and when i gently press on brakes at high speed the steering wheel starts to shake like mad. Does anyone know what might cause this?
  11. Could it be leafs in venting system? I get the noise even after i start the car. Opened hood recently and found lots of leafs stuck in venting entrance under the hood right before the windshield
  12. I have the same problem. The noise sounds like something is moving behind the dashboard or in heating system lol. It often starts when you start moving on green light. The noise can last as long as 3-5 seconds then goes away. I thought that it might be leafs that are stuck in ventilation system but its not it. Anyone know what might it be?
  13. Had a problem where my car's steering column would make knocking sounds somewhere along itself when i drive on rough surface. Took it to numerous mechanics and believe me or not, none of them was able to identify the problem. The best answer i got is "Visit us again when it gets worse" from Lexus dealership. Very recently i noticed another type of knocking. When i go over 5-10km speed bump on local malls, right after front wheels roll over the bump the car starts to wobble for a second from impact and something in the front end makes a single knocking sound with every side wobble. What could it be? My shocks?

Take it to mechanic that your friend/family trusts and tell him to check for - leaks - suspension - engine compression - breaks - let him drive the car I might be wrong but that's what i did when i got my 98GS400. I enjoy every second of it but i begin to have suspension problems that even Lexus dealership couldn't identify. Good luck
