  1. I was going to buy my bushings from www.tmengineering.net but my mechanic had already ordered them, so I decided to use his. Well, those ended up being too small so with my car in pieces we had to quickly purchase a set locally for like $120.00 each side..Ouch! You may want to ask around and see what people think of the Daizen control arm bushing sets sold on www.tmengineering.net. As far as the shocks go, I think you made the best choice. When you first put them on dont let the feel scare you. At first they gave me motion sickness, especially on the freeway. At first they have a very stiff feel to them, and every bump in the road would cause the ride to be full of fast, sharp bounces. I was like "Oh no!!..What have I done.. No more road trips!.. This is making me ill"..lol. After a couple of days though, they broke in perfect. Your cornering and breaking will show drastic improvement, or at least it did with mine. LCA?? I'll have to research that. C-ya
  2. I hit Google looking for Levoc shifters and only found UK/Aussie style applications. Finally got a hold of a guy who gave me the link for a company who handles the US versions. www.napolex.com
  3. My '93 made like a loose "dink" sound when I would drive over perpendicular seams in the pavement. I then notice that my tires were wearing bad on the inside. Had my front lower control arm bushings replaced and a set of Tokico Blues shocks slapped on. Oh man!..Like a new car. The "dink" sound turned into a solid "thunk". Cornering is unreal. I thought it drove great before. Highway stability is awesome. Worn lower control arm bushings are a very common problem with SC's. You can pretty much count on yours being blown. Mine still drove straight, even when the bushing were shot. Still cant understand that.
  4. Well, I finally installed my re-coned Nakamichis and I have to say they dont sound all that great. My back seat is out of the car at the moment and I'm hoping that's what is causing the poor sound quality. I mean they sound good. Just not as good as I was expecting. The richness is lacking. I had too much of a treble sound with the Kenwood 2-ways I had installed, but these almost sound too flat. I sure hope that back seat is a key part of the acoustics. We'll see.
  5. You may try a place called Tap Recycling in CA.
  6. I second that!!! USELESS!!! I removed mine and mounted my XM radio braket there.
  7. If the '92 checks-out I'd go with it. These are basically the same car. I put '95 rims on my '93 and it looks alot newer. I actually prefer the look of the earlier SC's before they removed the lower lip and went with the one piece nose. Although if you are not careful you can easily screw that lip up. I've already replaced one. $400.
  8. When I have my hood lifted on my '93 SC I hear a constant ticking also. I thought it was something to do with the ignition. I'll have to try it with the brake applied. Are you saying that this sound is loud enough to hear while you drive? Mine isn't.
  9. If you have ever read the owners manual, it actually states that some degree of valve chatter is normal for the SC400 under heavy acceleration. Mine started sounding louder, so I ran a few treatments of Techron from Chevron. I ran it a little stronger than the directions called for. Wait until tank is empty, then add the Techron and fill with 8.5 gallons. When that tank is empty, repeat. It seemed to help alot. I will continue to do this every 3k or so. PS. As much as it hurts the wallet, you really want to use premium fuel. It's worth it.
  10. When new .. 0-60MPH / 6.5 SEC.... Ten years down the road...?????
  11. What parts have you had to replace over the years?
  12. I've heard several people say that switching to a synthetic oil will causing leaks to occur. ??? Has anyone here heard the same? I switched to Amsoil over a year ago and haven't incountered any leaks. My friend has run it for over two years with no problems. Why would this happen?
  13. You may want to try www.taprecycling.com. They part out SC's. I have a 93' and my seat motor is fine. I dont think that's a common problem with these. Yours may just be a fluke. Maybe it came disconnected or something. I cant see the motor wearing out with such low mileage. I would definately pull that seat and make sure it's all hooked-up. It may be that switch along the bottom. If that goes the motor never gets the message to move.
  14. I dont get it. Stickers and arcade games? Special people vs. Regular people? jk
  15. Well if they were Brembo that would be fine, but how can you tell? Someone said they thought Brembo was now making some of their rotors in Mexico, lacking any markings. I just have no way of telling.
  16. I dont recommend using Night's Auto or Elite off of Ebay. I have never experienced such a run around. I bought a set of front Brembos from Night's Auto and received a package from Elite. Yes... the wrong item. They were a brand called Magnum. So I called them and they said "Ship those back and I'll ship you the Brembos"...Gee...Thanks! So a couple of weeks pass and no rotors. I call them and they say that they will ship them out today. WHAT!!! You havent shipped yet. Oh..Sorry sir...We are really sorry. A week and a half later I receive the rotors. They are in an opened and torn-up Brembo box. No where do they say Brembo. I've had friends with Brembos and their's said BREMBO somewhere on them. I ended up getting in a shouting match on the phone with them. They were claiming that these were real...and I said how do I know? I think the whole group up there is huffing glue or something... stay away. I sent them back. I ended up finding a friend of a friend who worked at a shop locally and got about the same deal. Save yourself problems and find an authorized dealer.
  17. Is anyone aware of a good power chip for the SC400? If so, what kind of gains does it produce?
  18. I actually tried to buy PBR Metal Masters (I think they are the same as Axxis) but they discontinued front pads for the SC400. I'm really happy with the Rotex's. When they get warmed up they are quite sticky. They are supposed to be really durable and with low dusting.
  19. Just had a set of drilled Brembo rotors and Rotex Gold brake pads installed. Wonderful set-up. Very pleased.
  20. Harbor Point Lincoln Mercury in Everett looks like the closest shop that provides BG services. 1-800-628-5269
  21. BG is a company that specializes in maintenance products for all types of vehicles. If you are going to do these types of engine flushes, etc they are the considered one of the best. You can research BG on the net. www.bgprod.com
  22. That Evolution body is nice. Does anyone know what rims those are? Would you say that's a 1" drop? (First pic on the above link)
  23. Maybe these people can find it. www.L-Tunedparts.com
  24. Well if it is operating ok I would try to salvage it. Nothing to lose. Two years ago, I was having slipping problems and figured a rebuild was on the horizon. I put my tranny on one of those circulators and had the BG treatment done on it. It fixed the problem and I have had no problems since. The guy said that it was filthy. I've heard that kicking some of this sh*t loose can cause problems, but if they drop the pan and clean out the debris really well, this can be beneficial. The BG worked for me.
  25. Funny you asked. Just five days ago my friend was laghing at my dinosaur of a car phone and jokingly picked it up and attempted a call. I didnt even think there would be a dial tone but there was. When I dialed my home phone number it rang twice and then a Verizon recording started playing, stating that, "your mobile account could not be verified". An operator then came on and asked if I would like to activate the phone. I said, "I didnt even think you all still had service for these phones". Well, they still do. The sound quality was surprisingly good. The cheapest plan they had was like $30 for 200 mins. I probably wont activate it, but it did surprise me. I have that integrated hands-free set-up...it would be kind of nice... I dunno. Not really versatile enough to justify.
