  1. I always preferrred my 1930 Ford Model A......except it didn't have some of the accessories that my 2003ES has. :D
  2. Post a picture of how it looks after the repair.
  3. It still is one of the best high end companies around! The parent company is Harmon-Kardon International of which Mark Levinson operates as a separate entity. Unfortunately, Mark Levinson Audio Systems—the company—was never able to achieve a stable business structure, and finally ceased to exist on October 15, 1984.......but they're coming back stronger then ever. ;)
  4. The best way to tell is to take a test drive and adjust the seat all the way down. ;)
  5. Do you mean they were soldered on? I've never seen wires that were soldered on when the car originally came from the factory. They usually have push-on connectors. If you have to disconnect them, then you'll have to cut them, or de-solder them from the speaker terminals. Make sure you hook them up without reversing the leads otherwise the speakers will be out of phase. They'll work, but the sound will be compromised.
  6. This is the sequence. When you turn your ignition key to the on position, the airbag light should turn on. At this point the airbag system goes through self checks, and if everything is OK the airbag light goes off. If the airbag light remains lit, you have a problem. ;)
  7. Every time you push the lever down it moves the lower part of the seatback forward. If you push it more then 3 times the seatback releases and then you can start this cycle all over again. Some people like their back to have this additional support. This area of the back is called the lumbar region.
  8. I understand what you said, and that's why I suggested what I said in the above post.
  9. This could be caused by oxidation in the fader control. They sell a spray cleaner that you might be able to spray inside this control. I would try this first since this would be the simplest and cheapest fix if it works.
  10. Maybe your Lexus repair dept. will feel a little sympathy for your predicament and remove the card without charging you an arm and a leg.
  11. When I traded in my '94ES last year the dealer put it up for sale in their pre-owned cars showroom. They couldn't sell this car as a CPO because of the year, but they did exactly as SW said. The car I might add was in beautiful condition except for some marks on the bumpers. Before it was put up for sale they repainted the bumpers, completely detailed the car, and changed all the fluids. The car looked so beautiful that I wanted to buy it back. :D
  12. At least we agree on one thing...and that's the type of test equipment we use. I used a Fluke meter also, (Model 374ME1890), for these tests. Here's some good reading: http://www.type2.com/library/electrip/vreg.htm
  13. Then I guess my voltmeter is wrong. P.S. Like I said both of my ES's and every Lexus car I've checked at idle, with NO load(lights, radio, etc.), put out at least 14.4 volts! This was checked with a highly accurate VOM. In fact my wifes 2001 Toyota Corolla had a similar voltage! Look at the specs in the shop manual before you post. <_<
  14. Make sure you take an English class. heehee :D
  15. Both my '94 & '03 ES's would put out a maximium charge(about 14.5vdc) at idle, with no accessories on. ;)
  16. You could always put in aftermarket parts, but after doing a job like this you'd probably end up paying the same amount as having Lexus do the job in the first place.
  17. It could be a broken wire inside the harness that goes to your door speaker, or at worst a dead channel in the amplifier.
  18. No, but when they put in new pads they should put a little brake pad anti-squeak grease on the shims. You NEVER put any lubricants on the rotors!
  19. Yes, I believe that! Lexus's don't like being second fiddle. Seriously though, I'm glad you're OK 'cause all the rest is secondary. From now on everything will be looking up......I'm certain of this. ;)
  20. In the '93ES you have to change the position of the connector on the wiper motor to make it either retract fully or above the hood. It's not a mechanical operation like it is on the newer ES's. I don't know how this connector position changed by itself, so it could possibly be what SK said in the above post.
