  1. We'll have to ask Bryan......he's the one that had this loaner. ;)
  2. Here is what the manual says......maybe this will clarify this misunderstanding.
  3. SK- I don't know why you said that! I have used high temperature anti-seize compounds for many years (probably before you were born), when installing spark plugs on my cars, boats, etc. This type of product worked very well on aluminum or iron cylinder heads with absolutely NO problems. Anti Seize Also, read what one of your fellow Canadians said about installing spark plugs. Installing Spark Plugs
  4. Hey Mikey- It's a great link! I spent about 45 minutes learning more stuff about the NAV system that I didn't know existed. BTW: How'd you find it? I was looking for this link on Lexus's website, but it was nowhere to be found.
  5. Yes, I got the 3M protective shield that was installed by my Lexus dealer. Personally, I don't think it's worth the exorbitant price I paid. $500 bucks! It ended up that the dealer refunded the price because they just put this 3M on the front & rear bumpers only covering part of the bumpers(8" strips) which naturally when someone backed up, it missed the protected area. The dealer told me that they didn't want the bother of removing this film. It's been on my car for about a year and a half and it didn't fade or peel and still looks good though, but if another car hits your bumper with a possibly sharp part of his bumper, it'll dig right into this supposedly strong plastic and it looks like hell. Save your money! ;)
  6. I've seen the molding you're talking about, but I think they don't look that good on a Lexus. There's no guarantee that the car next to you will hit the molding as he swings open his door. Besides, if you really want them, you can get them for a much better price then Lexus is quoting you, and this also holds true on the remote starter & Lo Jack. I would call up a few reputable Auto Alarm companies to compare prices. Most Lexus dealers work with these installers anyway and they send your car out to them. All they do is mark up the prices.....so go to the source, you'll save a bundle. ;)
  7. Explanation of RDS: Your audio system is equipped with Radio Data Systems (RDS). RDS mode provides you to receive text messages from radio stations that utilize RDS transmitters. When RDS is on, the radio can —only select stations of a particular program type, —display messages from radio stations, —search for a stronger signal station, —search for local stations broadcasting the same network as the vehicle travels, —receive announcements concerning local and national emergencies (even if RDS function is turned off). RDS features are available for the use only on FM stations which broadcast RDS information.
  8. Yes they do, and here's the package: SPORTDESIGN $4,700.00(Can) AM/FM Stereo Cassette, Compact Disc Autochanger, Mark Levinson Audio, Rear Window Sunshade, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Special Edition Badging, Unique Special Edition Floor Mats, High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlamps, Wood and Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel, Unique Alloy Wheels
  9. I'm going to send you a picture later, if I can find it......about this procedure.
  10. Are there any spark plugs that are made with aluminum threaded bases? I was just wondering 'cause I've never seen any.
  11. The bottom line is, do you or don't you notice any difference in your cars performance? If you don't, then save your pennies. ;)
  12. Just loosen the alternator mounting bolts and the adjustment screw on the top, then move the alternator all the way in. Then replace the belt and move the alternator out so the belt is tight, then tighten the adjusting screw and the mounting bolts. The tightness is measured between the pulleys about ½ way and the deflection should be about ½ inch.
  13. There is a bypass switch inside the glove compartment. If that is turned off then the trunk release button won't activate the trunk release.
  14. I tell them I'm amf1932 and if I don't get a loaner, I'll spread the word all over LOC's website. At this point they tell me to go into the customer waiting room and have a bagel & coffee.
  15. I bought a '94 ES in July 1994, and I was never told or saw a Platinum or Anniverary Edition sold by my dealer. If that model was sold in the NYC area there probably were very few of them.
  16. I never saw aluminum threaded spark plugs?? I always thought the threaded portion of a plug was made out of steel.
  17. OK, OK.......Sorry, but I thought it a strange request to disconnect a warning light that was put there for your safety, not as an annoyance!
  18. In any case......I like that bumper......but where are you going to get it? I think that's imported from a Japanese manufacturer. Costs mucho $$$. Do you mean you don't have the lamp housings mounted on your bumper. If not are there big holes where they belonged?
  19. Probably when they changed to the custom bumper they decided they weren't needed........or they didn't have the proper mounting for them. Personally, you don't really need them since they didn't really light up the road.....even in foggy conditions.
  20. Sure, your brakes will work fine without the ABS working, but I'm wondering whether you're trying to sell the car and mislead some poor unsuspecting buyer as to the fact that the ABS is broken?? Why then do you wish to disconnect the warning light?
