Nice job kcpth! I used to use a low speed buffer to get the haze off plastic shields on some equipment I used in my business on automatic film processors. You have to go into "My Controls", than, on the left hand bottom of this page, under "options", click "Board Settings", and under "Time Zone", you uncheck, "is daylight savings time in effect". :)

I doubt it.....most all of these "attacks" are directed at PC's. :)

You definitely need a relay in this type of system, because the air compressor for the horn draws too much current and the horn switch will burn out otherwise. I'm sorry that I don't have the proper wiring schematic anymore, but I did this modification on my Acura Integra years ago with no problems.

Was the 20K mile service done at a Lexus dealer? Regardless, if there was any engine damage done....although I doubt it......your car is covered by the warranty. It's most likely a defective oil level sensor. <_<

Yup, it's great to be retired. The last leg of this trip I drove about 750 miles and I was not tired in the least! I was going to stop by SW03ES's house in Maryland to have him detail my car and get off all the bugs from the front bumper.

I had the same thing happen on my '03ES. I checked the oil and it was right up to the top on the dip stick. That has happened just that once, because when I turned off the ignition and restarted the engine everything was fine. I think this was just a fluke, but if it happens continually, I would bring it into the dealer and have it checked out.

I just got home from this 1800 mile trip from New York City to South Carolina and I recorded some interesting facts. The car has approximately 12k miles and was carrying, 1 driver, 1 passenger, plus luggage. Tires - Factory Equipped Bridgestone Tires inflated to 31psi. Fuel - 87 octane from various manufacturers. Climate Control - 90% off. Fuel Economy - 1st. tankful from NYC, mostly highway driving(65 to 75mph), averaged 29.8mpg. 2nd. tankful, both city & highway, averaged 27.2mpg. 3rd. tankful, mostly highway(70 to 75 mph), averaged 30.6mpg. I was being as accurate as possible determining the mpg figures, and I was very pleased. I figured that if I didn't drive as fast on the road, I could have increased the mpg's at least 2 mpg more. On a previous trip from New York City to Minneapolis, MN., I used 91 octane fuel throughout, and the best mpg figures I got was 29.5mpg, but in this case the Climate Control was on about 40% of the time. I determined that using the Climate Control cut my economy by about 1 to 2 mpg. All in all, the car performed flawlessly in all respects, including the transmission shifting, and the tires were quiet and extremely smooth at all speeds. The HID lights were terrific, both on the highway and also the back roads. The radio sensitivity was adequate, but not great.....I might be looking to get a satellite radio hookup soon. This '03 ES is fast becoming one of the best Lexus's I've owned....so far. :)

Webby's about 2½ years old. I know that it was my son in laws & daughters responsibility to have him trained, but they're both too "busy"! Now they're in a panic because they're having new floors put down in the house and they're concerned about pee pee spots all over the new floor. heehee :)

I disagee! NGK makes 2 grades of spark plug wires. I was talking about their "Racing Grade" of wires, not the "Premium Grade". A set of the "Racing Grade" wires costs about $167.00, whereas the "Premium Grade" costs about $86.00. You probably haven't seen the "Racing Grade" wires because most automobile supply companies don't stock them due to the cost. <_<

You can ask Lexus service if it's necessary to remove this shield. It doesn't seem like this has to be done just to drain the coolant.

Definitely a good idea to change these components, especially if they were never changed before. NGK is a reliable name in Japanese ignition products, so I would say yes. Check what your local dealer sells these parts for and then check on the internet. Most likely they'll be cheaper on the internet, but then you have to consider shipping charges.

I think that dt888 is talking about the shield that covers the lower part of the engine, not the engine cover.
