  1. I have the same problem with my LG cellphone when I try to use the voice recognition feature.......if there's any background noise, it doesn't understand my command. This is probably the same problem with the NAV's voice control.
  2. I put down 3-4 years, but that might change depending on the Lexus Corporation's ability to fix the transmission/electronic throttle response to the drivers input. Yes, I can control it, but it's really been a pain to do so under certain conditions. Also, it depends on how well the stock market and the economy in general fares in the next few years. I'm beyond the age where I feel like doing my own mechanical work on a car as I have done in the past. The manufacturers warranty is very important to me.

    New Job

92Lex- I think you made a very wise decision. :)
  4. It could be caused by the tire tread(s), or looseness in your front end parts.
  5. Do you lose reception on AM or FM or both? The rear window built in antenna reception(sensitivity), was never as great as the older ES's that used an antenna staff, so there is the possibility that the electrical flow from the rear defogger is causing some sort of conflict with the radio signal. When I get a chance I'll try testing this out on my '03ES to see if I get the same results. Very interesting.
  6. There is the possibility that the NAV antenna was moved to the front windshield on the '04-'05 models, because the NAV computer was shifted to the radio area, as opposed to being in the trunk as on the '02-'03 ES's.
  7. So what would you consider certain model Lexus's, 'cause some are built in Japan and also Canada and the USA......domestic or imported??
  8. Very impressive specs. I wonder if this'll be Lexus's next generation engine? I'd like to run down to my Toyota dealer and drive it.......I want to see if it has the hesitation when shifting since they have an all new type of electronic throttle. I bet this new Avalon is going to take it's toll on prospective Lexus owners....280HP!!!! :whistles:
  9. Except for the Lexus ES's, which are built and assembled all over the world. I have 'Consumers Reports' dating back to the first ES road tests and not one test was so shabby as the 300 or the 300C. As far as I'm concerned the only thing that this new model has going for it is the Hemi engine. IMO. :)
  10. The January issue of 'Consumers Reports' gave the Chrysler 300C a pretty sad review. Such as, poor visibility due to their chopped top, suspension noise, poor ride, poor fuel economy, unimpressive halogen headlights, etc. This car might look hot, but I'm going to keep my ES300, :whistles:

    Shoes...

So.......now you have to take some pictures and post them. We'd love to see your taste. :D
  12. Yes. All you do is remove the screw carefully so you don't lose it, then take out the old battery and replace it with a new one. Radio Shack has replacements. I'm sorry, but I don't have the battery number, but they can tell by the old battery the proper one to use.
  13. Yes, you can drive the car with the PCV valve removed, but there is the possibility of some oil splashing around the engine compartment.
  14. Also, you will need to change the rubber gasket that holds the PCV valve in the valve cover.......it's dried up, and that's why you're having trouble removing the old PCV.
  15. The emergency brake cables probably needs to be changed. They can bind due to not using this brake. I had the same problem on a Honda Prelude I owned, and when I replaced these cables everything was back to normal. P.S. The indicator light indicates low brake fluid level, and also has a switched link which is activated mechanically by the emergency brake lever.

    Shoes...

Is this more like it? This is a Hugo Boss design.
  17. I worked in the Lithographic printing business almost my whole life, so I'm interested in finding out what kind of paper(manufacturer), that was used for this publication. My company did the finest printing for the top advertising agencies around the USA, Europe, and Asia. :)
  18. I think I'll take my chances because: 1- I'll probably trade in this car way before the CC craps out. 2- I prefer that they don't play around with my exhaust 'cause there's always the possibility of an exhaust leak. I've seen it happen before. My '94 ES exhaust system was perfectly fine after 9 years of use.....and that includes driving thru salted New York City roads in the winter! And finally, 3- If it ain't broke don't fix it. :)
  19. SW- Do you think it's worth the bother to have them change the catalytic converter, since the sulfur smell on my '03 is no worse then any of the previous cars I've owned with catalytic converters??
  20. Moderator.....Please delete. Thank you. :)

  22. It's as simple as putting a CD/DVD into a player. 1- Turn on your ignition to accessory position. 2-Open your trunk. 3- Pull the NAV cover towards you. Pull equally on both sides of the cover. It's held in with clips. 4- Press the eject button, and when the drawer opens remove the old disc and replace it with the new disc. 5- Close the drawer. It should automatically update your NAV system. 6- Leave your ignition on until the upgrade is completed.
