  1. I also love that color, but as with any dark color the car has to be really clean to appreciate it fully. My 'Millenium Silver' colored ES might not be as dramatic as the 'Black Garnet'..but it always looks clean even though it's not. I guess I'm just too lazy to constantly work on the cars finish. :)
  2. That's news to me......I've never heard of having to reboot a CD changer.
  3. This movie has made me appreciate Michael Moore with a new fervor. Not because of his political views, but because he knows how to make an interesting film. This film loses focus 10 minutes in to the film and jumps around from there on. About half of the movie is irrelevant to the rest of the movie. I enjoy documentaries and wasn't expecting as much comedy as one of Moore's, but I expected some interesting points to be made. There weren't. There was nothing that jumps out at you, or any revelations to be made. This movie would have been more effective as a 10 page report. The points made to discredit Moore have no effect at all. There's an entire segment on the fact that he changed the format of a newspaper article that flashes by the screen, that no one would read. Most of the movie isn't even about discrediting Moore, as most would lead you to believe. It's about saying how great of a leader President Bush is. Not in conjuction with disproving Michael Moore's statements, but getting off the point completely. Which would be great if that's how it was advertised. I'm all for positive campaigning instead of just discrediting the other guy. But stay focused. Michael Moore didn't say how great any of the democrats were in Fahrenheit, because it would take away from making his points about Bush. Basically, the movie was made to discredit Michael Moore. This, like most attacks on a movie, just add to the money the movie makes. Don't watch this movie unless you feel the need to sit through an hour and a half of bad film-making. The reason why Moore's films are so popular is because they entertain, not just the political aspects. I seriously hope that the conservatives can get someone who can actually make a good film while making a point next time.
  4. SW03ES- I don't think you'd be happy purchasing used OEM chrome wheels from ebay. You're a very particular guy, and if the wheels were scratched, it would drive you crazy. :cries: Remember, "new is new". :)
  5. It could be a bad cartridge, or misalignment in the changer when trying to feed the CD.......but if you know somebody that uses the same type of cartridge, I would try that first, before investing in a new one. Did you by any chance try to feed a homemade CD with a paper label? These CD's can also screw up the mechanism.

    X3

    It's a decent car, but the X5 is much better....all around. :)
  7. Look at my above post......I added about going to Sears. You have to have proof of purchase to get a replacement, and they won't replace it unless it has a bad cell. They have a machine which does a complete test on the battery.:)
  8. It's not such a difficult job to remove the battery and bring it to someone that has a charger. Just loosen the battery cable ends, and then loosen the holddown clamp and voila, lift out the battery. Like I said before, charge the battery before you get all bent out of shape trying everything else. Your battery is close to DEAD! :whistles: P.S. You mentioned that it was a Diehard battery, so you could go over to Sears and get it charged, or most Service Stations can do it. You don't have to get the car towed!
  9. Before I would do anything, I'd have the battery charged. Strange things can happen with the cars electronics if the battery is very low. After the battery is charged you can once again determine what caused the battery to be in such a low charged state, like inadvertently leaving on the dome light, or something else.
  10. I think my trip computer acts the same as yours(about 300mi after a fill up). I found it's almost impossible to get accurate readings using the trip computer. I measured the gas mileage by filling up the tank, then on the next fill up I divided the mileage I went, by the amount of fuel used. I was being as careful as possible to get exact readings.[i keep a little electronic calculator in my glove compartment]. I'm sure that your car will give you the same type of mileage that I got, assuming that all other parameters were equal. ;)
  11. Steve- If you followed my thread about my trip to Myrtle Beach, you'll see that my mileage was a lot better then 25mpg. As I mentioned, I was very accurate in determining these figures. The link is on my above post. Please re-read and tell me why there is this variation.:whistles:
  12. From what I've heard, J-B WELD doesn't work too well on exhaust systems. This might be because of the wide heat range that these exhaust components have to work in. Besides, your resonator might be too rusted out to salvage.
  13. I didn't know that. Do they have that kit @ Autozone? I don't think i have a head gasket blown... but i would like to find out just in case since most of my cars are still OLD OEM part's @ 176k. N plus i like to learn these things n it's fun picking my car apart now B) ← From your description, it certainly sounds like a blown head gasket. :cries:
  14. There shouldn't much of a mileage difference between an '03ES300 and a '05ES330. This is a thread that I started a couple of weeks ago> http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=14921
  15. Don't knock yourself out..........change the motor! B)
  16. I used to have the same problem on my '94ES. I found that with two people I could once again make the antenna work properly, from full up to full down position. You have nothing to lose by trying this: 1- Squirt WD-40 onto the shaft and let it roll down the shaft. 2- Have somebody in the car turn on the radio while you help pull the antenna shaft upward. 3- Turn off the radio and help push the antenna shaft down. 4- Do this operation a few times and check to see if this corrects your problem.
  17. From this quote, I think that when the engine is cold, the transmission computer delays the shifting pattern until it's warmed up a bit. This delay could make it slam into the next higher gear. It still could be worn motor mounts though.
  18. Check this out> http://www.carcarecouncil.org/Electrical/power_seats.shtml
  19. I doubt if it's a broken wire, since he said, "It makes noise when you push the button, but that's it." If the wire was broken it wouldn't make any sound at all.
  20. I also believe that the smell is caused by the fuel. The sulfur content seems to change even though you get it from the same supplier. I get the smell occasionally, but I learned to live with it. Also, I never had this odor problems years ago, before they used catalytic convertors.
  21. There generally is a mark on the spline and also a mark on the steering wheel that has to line up to get it centralized. I haven't done this on a Lexus, so I'm really not 100% certain.
  22. Since using 87 octane fuel from any manufactuerr, my exhaust smells like roses. Do you think that I could change that to the aroma of lilacs. :D
  23. I think the only '98s that had that feature was Canadian cars, since that is the law there.
