  1. I agree, it is hard to ubderstand, but some of my store bought CD's are only one year old and nada data!
  2. It probably signals Toyota to put out another recall. LOL Happy New Year!
  3. Hi Simon and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. Congratulations on your new toy! Hope you have lots of enjoyment.
  4. Hi Abul, I'll look into your profile as soon as I can, probably Monday, and get back to you. Paul
  5. Kinda know how you feel, (except for all that Republican crap), but remember the old adage; "Be carefull what you wish for". May 2012 be the year we all get along, find a cure for cancer, help mom and dad's stop being embarrased about there babies crying in resturants, Lexus finaly admits the VR dosen't work and gives us all rebates, and Castro introduces a truly fine nickel cigar. Happy New Year to All Paul
  6. After what you've been through and because of what you do, I'd say you deserve it! (Does your wife know you bought all this stuff?) Have a safe and Happy New Year!
  7. Hi David. Welcome to the LOC. Hope you continue to use your membership here. Try this string from our search engine. It's got several threads on this topic. For more info go to the top of the page. At the top right side there is a small white bar with faint writing. Enter your search string, then choose Google search, then go. You also might try Metraonline.com for parts. Paul http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=43146
  8. Our LOC forums regularly debate questions about gasoline, 87 or 91 octane. Prices, why up & down. diesel, dirty? After reading these 5 myths, do you think the answers are on the money or way off? http://autos.aol.com/photos/five-gas-myths/?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl7%7Csec3_lnk1%26pLid%3D123924
  9. "akme", I was wondering if a c-spine collar has helped in the past to absorb some of the road vibrations. It's obvious from the avalanche of information to your posting, that there is no shortage of contradicting opinions on what tire/wheel configuration will work best. I agree with you that taking your time and carefully sorting through your options will save you disappointment and money. Lexus is well known in the industry for having the smoothest and quietest ride. Hopefully, your search will complete the package. Happy New Year to everybody!
  10. Hi Jim, I read the Wiki article and understand the problem better. My burner does put down the text info using "Rhapsody" as it's media source. Still, why would the commercial CD vendors not put the text bytes on the tracks. According to the Wiki article it costs them nearly zero to do it. I know, if this is the biggest problem in my life I must be pretty hard up! But, it just bugs me. I'll send anyone the gas cap off of Jim's 1990 LS400 if you can answer this problem. LOL
  11. Same with me Steve. I use thumb drives and a mp3 player and all information is shown with no problem. I know that the Lexus sound system was designed with the Ipod in mind, but that shouldn't make any difference. The Ipod does work well with the system with the exception of a couple of quirks. My basic Sansa Fuze mp3 plays fine but has little interface function such as pulling up playlist, and it shuts off the whole head unit when you start the car up. You have to push the power on button on the radio to turn back on the mp3. Weird!
  12. For the third year in a row, Toyota leads the pack in most recalls for the year. Does anybody recall a "Recall" (sorry, I couldn't help it) on their Lexus this year?? If so, for what and what model. Paul http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/29/toyota-tops-recall-list-again-in-2011-overall-number-of-u-s-re/?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl10%7Csec3_lnk3%26pLid%3D123721
  13. Hi Edward, Apparently you have everyone stumped. I don't have any help, but hang in there any hopefully after the holidays somebody will chime in with some ideas.
  14. I read your thread last night and at first I wasn't sure how it struck me, so I thought about it for a while. If I were driving down the street and passed a ES350 like I drive and it was painted and marked up as a police car I would probably think "well, I thought this was a luxury car that people work hard for in order to afford one...and now the city can buy them and run them up to 150,000 miles (beat to hell) and so much for the old prestige factor." However, the attraction of the Crown Victoria and the Chevy Caprice did not go down during their life cycle run. Also, my son-in-law is a Deputy Sheriff and there is no way in hell he or his department could ever do there job in a Lexus, unless, it was a LX that had room for drunks throwing up, felons spitting on the officers in the front and the 200 pounds of tactical equipment they carry in the trunk of those current Crown Vic's. Prestige is shallow, and Luxury is subjective. But we all carry these traits about our cars and thats OK. On the other hand, utility is measurable, and the IS-F just doesn't meet that test. Happy New Year y'all!
  15. I think this topic has come up only once before, but I searched and can't find it. Why, when you play some CD's the Navigation screen will show "No Data" in all lines instead of showing the Song title, Album, and Artist. It does this on some original, store purchased CD's, but not all. On some home burned disk and on some new and old disk. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. One theory I thought about is their compressing rate is so high that they have striped/eliminated those bits to allow for more room to squeeze in more signal. Just a wild guess. Any body know the REAL answer?
  16. Welcome K to the Lexus Owners Club. I did some research on your question and here is what I found: First of all, would you write back and verify the mileage on the GS300? Is it really only 12,400 miles?....or is it 124,000 miles. Obviously it makes a whooping amount of difference in the price. That car with 12,400 mile in excellent condition is currently marked at $15,509. That is according to Kelley Blue Book values. (KBB.com) In good condition, the value is $14,809. - In fair condition it's valued at $13,634. If the miles are actually 124,000 the value drops below $10,000. The price the dealer is quoting you is far below even the value of the car if it is in only fair condition....again, assuming the mile are correct. Doesn't sound quite right...the puzzle pieces don't quite fit which makes one wonder about the condition of the car. Have you asked for a CarFax report? GET ONE! Come back re; the mileage. Also go online and look at Kelley Blue Book and also Edmund's for car value information. Paul
  17. Welcome to the LOC Raymond. Thank you for the excellent information and keep on posting in the future. One other thing about finding good pricing on tires. My Lexus dealer offers a price match guarantee for any advertised tire price whether local or online from say "Tire Rack" or out of town vendor. I have bought all my tires this way for all my Lexus and Volvo and never spent a nickel more than Costco or anyone else and it is a lot more convenient to have it done while I wait in the "comfy" lounge. Check with your dealer. Paul
  18. I have run the Michelin MXV4's for three years now and I agree that they have been the smoothest and quietest tire I've used by far. Maximum pressure is a rating of the most inflation the tire can safely handle without breaking the bead. As said, it would also ride like a lumber wagon at 40psi, not to mention the extreme tire wear. Just use proper recommended inflation, the right tire and you should be set.
  19. Or wrecker yard......And Welcome to the Lexus owners club.
  20. That's a good one! You are absolutely right. You cannot search for 3-letter words but you could put "engine oil" (in quotes) and that would work. This a volatile subject but in a nutshell, yes, the Valvoline is just fine. Go for it as it sounds like a good deal. You do NOT need Mobile 1 (coming from a guy who runs Mobile 1 in my Lexus B) ). One additional way you can search for 3 letter words is to use the LOC/Google search in the upper right top of the page. It is a small horizontal white bar with very faint print. Just enter oil, no quotes, next click on Google search, then click go. It will do a search of the entire LOC data base but list it in Google format. I use it almost all the time now. Let me know what you think.
  21. I'm posting a link that may answer all you questions about specific non-ML speaker replacement. But, you still need to come up with what you want to accomplish in the end. As a side note; I would NOT recommend placing a separate amp down stream from the head unit. Your asking for major problems that the head unit can not handle. The factory H.U. is about 100 watts output. Not enough to drive nails through your ears, but should be sufficient for normal use. The amp in the trunk (I have the same in my 2010 ES) does a great job of punching out the bass. In my opinion, the biggest problem with the standard system is it's lack of a 5/6 band equalizer. Let us know how this thread works out. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/es350/450555-speaker-upgrade-recommendation-for-standard-2007-es350-non-ml.html
  22. Hi Elisha, I was going through the forum and found your post as one that no one apparently had an answer for. I wanted to apologize for no one at least welcoming you to the Lexus Owners Club and for not acknowledging that someone here had read your post. Once in awhile a question will come along such as yours that covers a topic that no one has ever experienced before. Members get baffled and therefore don't say anything. The answer to your problem is "don't Know", but the obvious solution is your warranty and your dealer which you have already done. Did it get fixed? Paul
  23. Hi Sean, What one would suggest can only be based on what you want to accomplish. You want to do a speaker upgrade. For what purpose. Crisper highs? Smother or more present midrange? You've got a sub and box baffle,( is that about an 8"?). Do you need less "thump/thud" in the bass line or are you looking for the rap bass that shakes the rust off the brake calipers? Before anyone can suggest they will need to know some of these things. Now, for a disclaimer. Lexus uses a network of matched crossovers. Their speakers are usually 8 ohm instead of the usual 4 ohm found in most car stereos. As for the speaker size, I don't know in the LS460. They may share some sameness with the ES350 but I don't know. Try using the large data base on this web site and search for the information on speaker size. Get back to us and let's see what you want to do.
  24. Congratulations!! Welcome from a fellow Volvo owner. We have a 2007, S80 with 3.2 - white exterior with Sandstone interior. Sport package which includes the selectable suspension, 18" rims and nav. and headlight washers. My wife drives it and I and she both feel better knowing she's in that Volvo. With the extra wide tires, in snow, it goes like a tank. Nice to have another Volvo owner on the site. Oh, We bought it as a CPO and the reliability has been excellent. Service and follow-up excellent.
  25. Hi Michelle and Welcome as well to the Lexus Owners Club, Owning a new 2012 ES would be a pretty cool gift for the new year. I just wanted to echo Steve's words regarding purchasing from a Lexus dealer vs. say a domestic brand such as Ford, Buick, etc. I bought my 2010 ES350 about a 14 months ago. The MSRP or sticker price was $42,500. Instead of asking for the car at invoice price, I took a suggestion from others on this forum and said I wanted 10% off the sticker. They didn't even blink. As I had figured in advance the 10% brought it down to exactly invoice. I then asked for a value of my car on a trade. They said &12,500, the book (Edmund's)said 14,500 and we finally agreed at the $14,500 figure. At the same time, Lexus was giving their dealers $1,000 certificates to use as they saw fit to help close a deal. (This is the time of year they usually give the $1,000 off so ask when your looking around.) I felt it was a good deal for me and they were happy as well. It's my belief that if you feel your dealer is out to screw you and you have to try and beat them out of every penny you can, then you are at the wrong dealer or you can't afford the car your buying. Let us know how you come out. Paul
