  1. Hi Saul, welcome to the forum. A couple of things re; your question. There are several post and threads in our data base refering to Mark Levinson and sub woofers. I'm unable to give you any search results due to a software problem with my computer and the new site program. But, I think the sub is located in the side of one of the rear panels. If there is no sound at all coming from the sub, it dosen't necessarily mean it's "blown". A output channel in one of the amps could be out or another component like a peak overload circuit could be out. A word about fixing your problem. Whether it is the speaker or another component, Lexus is not liscened by Mark Levinson to repair any of their equipment. That is why your Lexus dealer will diagnose the problem, but can't repair the bad component. They have to replace the whole unit only. With a ML system, that is expensive. But I would strongly urge you to replace your bad parts with OEM, ML parts to maintain the sound quality and balance of the original design. Paul Your Lexus dealer, through no fault of their own, do not have any ability to repair ML systems. They can only replace whole components. They can diagnose and tell you what is wrong ( most of the time).
  2. We Volvo owners like to call those gauge faces extinguished..aahhI I mean DIStinguished !!!! Sorry for the slip.
  3. Welcome to your Lexus Owners Club! The tire pressure monitoring uses (for lack of a better term) a valve stem system that contains a small transmitter. This sends a signal to a processor with monitors the tire pressure. The spare tire has one of these "valve stem" units as well, unless your car does not have a full size spare. When my TPMS came on one time, and I pulled into my dealer and they were the ones who thought to check the spare tire. Paul
  4. Hi Ken, and welcome to your LOC. I'm assuming from your posting that you have tried asking about these wheels before. As a point of clarification, at least for me, are these wheels OEM to the SC430? If so I imagine you've checked with Lexus parts like Sewellparts.com to see if their still available. Let us know. Thanks, Paul
  5. Hi Carlos, There are several post/threads in the data base about this subject. I looked under "1997 SC300 Swap" and pulled up several results. Some refining of your search string might find more results. Others will chime in here. Keep us informed! Paul
  6. Hey John...Welcome to the LOC. Sounds like your really going to enjoy your GS. When you get around to making some changes to your sound system, You will get the best results if you start by replacing the amp at the head unit with a new one that is balanced to your new speakers resonance and crossovers. Don't try to use the old stuff. Again welcome. Paul
  7. Hi and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. Feel free to post any questions you might have and look around the site for more info on your new baby! Paul
  8. Only the military could put together a flight plan like yours!!!. Your wife could have driven over and back in "Big Blue" by now and you'd be home!. LOL By the way, I'm working on a beach in my backyard. Could you bring me a jar of Kuwait sand?? :) Be Safe, Paul
  9. Hi Richard and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. You didn't give us the model of the 2008 car your working on. You need to write back with that info. Also, you'll want to go back into your "Profile" information you filled out when you signed up, and put the model of your car into the "Model" line in place of 2008. Look forward to talking with you. Paul
  10. Here is a configurator for the 2012 BMW 3 Series. In my short life, :), I have never run across a car that started at around $36,000, and could go up to $70 grand! (Must have a heck of a spare tire option.) So for your illumination, read on, tear it apart. Tell us what's better than us, what's worse than us. Then which Lexus is the best choice over the 3 series. Be honest, be nice. http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/19/2012-bmw-3-series-configurator-powers-up/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+weblogsinc%2Fautoblog+%28Autoblog%29
  11. Just read today in AutoBlog that due to last years devastating earthquake in Japan, Toyota Corp, lost 1,000,000 cars from production. Now you know why your dealers inventorys were thin, and you had to wait so long for that new car delivery. Paul
  12. Hello John and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. I found this thread while doing a search of our data base re; your problem. I have no idea if this is the reason your having this issue, but to me at least it does sound like a tire issue. I don't know of any current vibration service bulletins for late model LS460, and there were no mentions in the database. Let us know what you finaly come up with. "Michelin Primacy is an excellent choice for the ES350. Surprisingly enough, The B/S Turanza EL400 is the tire we use on the LS460 because of it's extremely low Road Force Variation. The 460's smooth suspension will detect anything above 10lb.s of RFV and become a slight vibration at highway speeds similar to a wheel balance concern. Go figure. Everyone's different, I guess." "Oh God, my Dad had a 98 LS400 and an 04 LS430, you are totally right...the slightest little but out of balance and you could definitely feel it. He had a set of Dunlops on the 400 one time he had to have rebalanced once a month. The ES is picky too, but not as bad."... (search under LS460-vibration) Paul
  13. Hi Cali. I just wanted to welcome you to the Lexus Owners Club and hope you'll enjoy many more miles of smooth driving. Lenore gives good advice. I'm not a big believer in extended warranties, but in some cases they make sense. In your situation with your concern for future trouble and exspense, the warranty might offer peace of mind. Paul
  14. Hi Sam and welcome to the LOC! Glad to have another Brit in the club. Our administrator, Steve, is also in the UK. Feel free to browse and post any questions or comments you might have. Paul
  15. Hi Becca and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club! You've got a problem!! Since you don't know a lot about cars, and your "do-it-your self" attempts have so far been less than succesful, my recomendation is simple. Take your IS to your dealer or, to a good body shop that repairs cars that have been in collisons. The dealer can quickly fix the overall problem and get your phone out. They may even do that for nothing as "Good will". But the repair from them, and the part(s) if they can get them, will be costly. Dealer labor charges are high. Option B; the body shop people should also be able to quickly retrieve your phone and usualy, their rates are lower than the dealer. As far as replacing the broken part(s), they should be able to order them the same as the Lexus dealer. Others here may suggest that you tackle trying to take apart the console yourself. If your mechanicaly inclined and have experience with tools feel free to follow there lead. If you just want to get your phone back in a hurry, chose whats behind curtain A, or Curtain B. LOL Good luck and write back and let us know how things turn out. Paul
  16. You didn't mention you had a nav installed.. I really don't know how the 2003 is set up. but in my 2010 you can select either the driver side speaker or the center dash speaker for the Nav voice to play. My best guess is you have more than a speaker problem.

  18. Hi Duc and again, welcome to the Lexus Owners Club.
  19. Thank you for clarifying that LexBob2....as I did my search, and from what I recalled from memory, apparently the information got mixed up. I was sure the 350 had the direct injection. Again, Thanks! Paul
  20. News to me....my dealer still uses a blend, same price as dino.
  21. Hello Roland and welcome to your Lexus Owners Club. I too have a ES350 with the parchment interior and have the same trouble with jeans dye transfer. I also had a 2005 ES330 with a cashmere colored interior that did the same thing. However it is not the fault of Lexus. It happens with every car, from every brand with quality leather seats in a light color. It is not fatal. Over time as you wear over the leather and keep it clean, you'll find it transfers less. When I have my car washed they just wipe a rag with some cleaner over the spots and it looks like new. So don't blame the dealer or Lexus, I guess we can blame the cow? LOL Paul
  22. Hi Doug. Welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. From what you describe it could be several things. Yes, a bad speaker in the door, a loose connection, a bad output channel in the amplifier, etc. You say the dash speaker "fades" in and out. Do you mean it gets loud then soft, then loud again, or does it cut in and out; sound one minute - no sound the next and so on. Please clarify. Obviously, the car isn't covered by some warranty plan. Then I would not have the dealer work on it. Lexus dealers don't repair their audio equipment. They just swap out parts. I would suggest you take it to a well known Car audio shop and have them do the diagnostics on your system. A lot cheaper and more accurate. If it turns out to be a component and not the speaker, they may be able to repair it. Write back and let us know what's up. Paul
  23. Hi Tracy. Welcome to the LOC. My experience has been with my former 05' ES330, which had SAT radio, CD, and Cassette. If your head unit has the SAT button in the row of button that show AM/FM - CD- etc, then your unit can be retrfited for SAT radio. But, by now, very exspensive to do. There is no aux jack kit from Lexus. Other than the cassette adapter (which I had to use), I don't know of any other way to use your mp3. I am with you in wanting to keep the factory appearance, but there are some nice after market stuff out there that other members have had luck with fitting in and looking good. Do a search of our data base and read up on what others have tried or done to solve some of these issues. Let us know what you come up with. Paul
  24. Hi Joel and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. In answer to your question, yes, the ticking sound you hear was an infrequent, but annoying problem with the earlier ES350's. As your dealer said, the sound is caused by the use of the DIRECT fuel injection method, versus the former type of fuel injection. It was worse upon a cold start, and went away after about ten minutes or so after the engine had warmed up. In doing some research through our data base, I can't tell whther a "fix" was ever brought out or not. I can tell you my own 2010 is as quiet as a mouse when it starts up in the morning. So somebody got their act together. Let us know if you have other questions and someone out of our 134,000 members will surely know the answer.
