  1. I have had nitrogen in my tires on both my 05 and 2010 ES's. It works very well for me and I only need check the tires when I take it in for an oil change. Paul
  2. It does sounds like a good price and going to another lender might get you a better rate. Doesn't cost to check it out. Just a thought to pass on. Over the years I have leased several cars but have never bought out the lease at the end. When looking at the original "Purchase Price" of the vehicle that went into the lease calculations, and figuring the depreciation of the car over the miles alloted, and taking into account the resale value of the car, plus interest and the final buyout price listed on the lease, it just never made good business sense. It always was more expensive to purchase the leased car through a buyout than to turn it in and buy another. However, there is always the factor that you love the car your in and if the payments are right it is simpler to stay with what you know. It's only money and we do like nice cars! Paul
  3. I'm with Jen. I like the new look if in fact it is a new look! It is sleek and contempoary, sophisticated. The "L" does say it all just like the Audi rings or the Mercedes badge. Paul
  4. Based on other common air filter designs, i.e., air conditioner filter (window), furnace filter, I think your right. It makes sense that the air flow would push against the cotton and the reinforced material would hold it in place as the air passes through. Paul
  5. I don't know, call me crazy, but why not just stop and put gas in the tank when the neddle gets low. I never was comfortable playing chicken with a nearly empty tank, wether its 2 gallon or 1.5. Paul
  6. I had the same problem regarding the warning lights and it was the old gas cap trick. When you say filled up and VSC light in the same breath it is almost always a loose gas cap or the cap is screwed on crooked. The gas tank system has to be able to pull a vacuum for it to contain the vapors from entering the atmosphere, i.e. pollution control. I don't know what could be the source of the hesitation. Paul
  7. Thank you for the input. I just got the car back from the dealer with the E-Sport wheels and I am really pleased with the look. I'm glad I spent the extra dollars. (I was able to get the wheels for $999 , down from $1250.) I can see where a soft rag and the foam paint brushes could work. I'll try to post a photo soon. Thanks again fro your help. Paul
  8. Car Audio Tutorials: Here is a web site with some tutorials that might prove interesting. Paul
  9. It's true a speaker can and do go bad, but haveing all six go bad at one time is almost beyond probability. I'm not an expert but my guess is that your problem is in the head unit, the tuner, amplifier, etc. I would take it to a competent car audio repair shop and let them diagnose the problem. Your dealer won't be much help.
  10. What type of improvement are you trying to get? More/deeper bass? Smoother bass? Louder, more pronounced mid-range? More intense treble or smoother highs? More punch? Kindey punch volume? What model/year Lexus do you have? My experience has been with the standard premium system from the factory is that the amp is under powered compared to a custom installation of a 20 year old but not bad for an old geezer like me. The weak link in the Lexus sound is the door speakers and the sub. I have a seperate sub in the trunk running of an Alpine amp. This gives me nice surrounding, smooth bass that fills out the bottom of any music. I am trading my 05 ES for a 2010 ES tommorow and will move the sub and amp to that car and am putting two new 6x9 coaxial speakers in the front doors. I feel the tweeters in the dash are quite good. Paul Hi Paul, thank you for your response. The reason I want to see if there will be improvement is that my stock am has been idle since I bought the Sony head unit and the Alpine F250 amp. Now the front door speakers and the sub are being powered by the Alpine F250 amp. The rear speakers are being powered by the Sony head unit direct. That is why I am thinking if powering the rear door speakers by the stock amp will be better than powering direct by the Sony head unit. I have already changed the door speakers to Polk Audio speakers. I think I understand, but I'm not sure I can answer your question. When you say "better", is that better sound quality or better use of the amps you have to maximize the most power? If it is the later, I don't have the knowledge to answer that question. If it's the former, I would wonder what type (if any) of crossover settings the original unit has and if they will match the speaker output you want. Have you installed an equalizer to help ballance all the different systems and speaker types your running? When you say Better, you are the best and only judge of that. Your ears are what matters and a good local professional installer helps me get that. Good Listening, Paul
  11. Ah yes, the $200 Garmin from Walmart vs the $5000 Lexus Navi System from Hell. See my post on page 5 dated April 4, 2010 for more differences. Is this Inflation? On April 4, The Lexus Nav was $2500, the Walmart Garmin was $150!
  12. I call her lexi baby! *BLEEP*es my wife off be use I always tell he'd that lexi baby gives me good directions Given the lack of success I've had so far I might call "Lucy...you got some s'plainin to do!"
  13. Thank you Django44!! I think they look really nice, in fact I'm having them put on today. I went ahead on blind faith since your picture is the first time I have seen them ON an ES!! (Call me crazy). S.W. brings up a good point. What do you use to clean them, and in fact are they difficult to keep clean? Paul
  14. In wadding through the dictionary size stack of manuals for my new love, I found this reference on pg. 38 of the 2010 ES "Owners Manual", not the navigation manual. Button 3 (unlock button on the wireless remote) "opens the windows and standard moonroof; push and hold" "(*this setting must be customized at your Lexus dealer)". If you miss that teeny-tiny asterick after the "Opens the window...." your in for a disapointment. It is easy to see why we're all a little confused. I take my car in tommorow for a remote start install and I will see how hard it is for the tech to turn-on this feature. Paul
  15. Yea Paul but she is a hottie! I know you would think that you could change the voice. :) Thanks for the quick info. I guess Miss Lexie and I will have to develop a "relationship"!?
  16. I just got a 2010 ES with Nav. My Garmin offered a variety of voices to choose from such as a London english accent or an Australian accent etc., as well as different female voices or males voices. It looks like the Lexus Nav. only has the one female voice. Is that correct?
  17. OGUITAR: Have you had enough yet? Hope all works out. Paul
  18. S.W. I'm trying to upload some photos of my new ES Black Sapphire Pearl, but it says that even one photo is too big (over 2mgb) and so I can not up load even one picture. Does this forum require a special format or compression type of file? Thanks for your help as usual. How is your new baby doing? I read where you tiped over 2k on the odometer. That came fast! Paul
  19. The XM station number for traffic & weather in the D.C. area is #214. You can go to XMRadio.com for a complete list of all channels including traffic, sports, music, talk, etc. We don't have Nav/traffic here, we just rely on neighbors letting us know if someones cow gets out on the road. I'm wading through the navigation owners manual for my new 10' ES 350. So far I don't find it very intuitive compared to my Garmin. Any tips? Paul
  20. Hi Hush, I have not had a similar experience but there have been similar post before, asking the same type of questions. For those like you who like precision and exactness, your not going to be able to find it when rying to pin down what it says in the readout verus what goes in your tank. The same is true when trying to reconcile avg. miles per gal. with the computer readout vs. gallons you put in your tank. However, showing "6 miles remaining" on the miles left range read out when the low fuel light comes on is a new one. Did you think about filling up before it said 6 miles remaining or did the gas gauge show a 1/4 tank or more?
  21. I don't mean to but in, but very quickly, unfourtunately, something went wrong after you finished snuging up your connections. The system is designed to retain power to the accesories such as windows, radio, etc, for several seconds after the ingnition key is removed so you can have the accessories available as you get ready to leave the car. If you no longer have this retained/timed out power, then something is, well, not good? Paul really? hmm guess i'll look into it. because when it comes to other cars i notice that once they're off you can't use anything. guess i'll look into it. thanks. Whoops!! Got that wrong. Guess I was thinking of the Bahamas! The power remains on to the accesoeies after you turn the key off as long as the key is in the ignition and has been turned only one click to the accesories position and not beyond. You can open the doors, etc. and the power to the radio and windows should still be there. My reference re: time out is about my Volvo with push button start. Sorry. Paul

  23. To Steve W: You mentioned adjusting the smog sensor sensitivity on your new 350, and the sensitivity of the panel backlighting. Can you explain those two items for me please? I have a whooping 28 miles on my new 2010 350!! Paul
