  1. Sorry, I didn't understand exactly what you wanted. It is common for forum software to be configured to turn on "follow" by default whenever you post. If you don't want to follow a thread after you post, then immediately turn off following after posting. I assume that this is a forum software configuration setting that could be changed by a forum administrator but many people prefer to automatically follow a thread after posting.

  3. I just upgraded to Project Mu SS lines on all 4s to help with the brake feeling and stopping power but it still leaves me a nagging feeling. salvage yard sold the calipers to another person. I will go with ebay again. with regards to brembo and other AfM bbk, I like the notion but for practical application its an overkill, I only use the car during summer season here in Finland so the BBK upgrades I am left with is to stick with either LS calipers and GS calipers that can be bolt on/custom brackets.

  4. 1990BlackLS Totally agree! You have to also consider that all the rotating components have all done the same amount of work (e.g. rotating at engine speed) so you should always replace every component including tensioners and idler pulleys

  5. Sorry I'm a bit late to the party chaps! Mike, Jim is correct, as its normal practice to see what responses you get from posting in different threads. You can opt to turn off the responses like Jim has stated by toggling the switch, but it is a global change to default to switch it off as it will affect all members

  8. Water pumps always weep a small amount around the main pump bearing weep hole as they get older and unless you are visibly low on coolant AND smell coolant after running it at highway speeds (where a leaking water pump would mist the exhaust from the passing high speed air) you are not at risk. Also bad water pumps will make squealing noises months before they fail. What bothers me more is that they are mentioning doing the water pump without mentioning replacing the timing belt and pulleys (timing belt service kit). You need to remove the timing belt to get to the water pump. No competent person would change out one without doing the other (both) at the same service. Look up timing belt kits on Amazon for your car. They include the belt and a new water pump.

  9. LOC the Explorer is the XLT version so it's not fully packed with comforts like higher end versions yet the 290hp engine and 6 speed tranny do the job. It's got big ole Michelin touring tires that really run quietly. It does not have that shot from a slingshot feet when I smash the gas pedal going say, 35 but need to go 60 in a hurry yet you do reach your desired speed quickly much like my 225 hp GS 300. So even the "work truck" version of the Explorer is pretty comfy. Now the work truck version of the F-150 the XL rides and sounds like a work truck. But you can strap it to a building and turn that sucker into a leaning tower of Pisa. It's pretty quiet considering the stiff suspension we had put under it. My neighbor has the Lariet version and says it was pretty comfy until he jacked it up and put glass packs under it. My old 95 Ranger is suprisingly comfy with it's air shocks and Michelin rubber. I used to comute for work and man I'd get so drowsy driving that one. As it has aged it has some squeaks and rattles but still not bad for a compact pickup truck. My GS 300 has Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires, which are not a quiet, touring comfy tire but in my experience the Tiger Paw tire generally stays round, and roll smooth mile after mile. So I was glad to see those on it. I just put a set on Mrs Fixer's Escape and so far so good after about 1000 miles.

  10. I drive a company vehicle. The giant company made a deal with Ford so they get huge discounts on the F-150 and Explorers. The client requires full size 4wd vehicles made by one of the big 3. I put in somewhere between 125 and 200 miles each day and while sitting next to the interstate requires an array of flashing lights so it idles a lot as well. Today I watched a few gasoline tanker trucks wizz past heading for Metropolis. Sadly it wasn't uncommon to see cars and trucks go past loaded down with gasoline tanks. Later in the day I opened an email that appeared to be from Microsoft today. It was a scam and had I clicked on the link my company might have been hacked. It was pretty freakin' authentic looking.
